Canker Sores

How to get rid of canker sores? I think the cause is too much pineapple to be frank. I will cut it out of diet, but what is an immediate solution to canker sores? Should I use baking soda to maybe increase mouth pH?

@highseabasch [I have found putting aspirin powder onto the sore helps ease the pain for a while. Holding sugar on it is also interesting.
I'll often make a beverage with:
some cascara
1/16 tsp baking soda
1/16 tsp aspirin crystals
50mg lidocaine powder
maybe some B3
maybe some B1
2 tbs sugar
hot water
this helps ease the pain and make me feel good during a stupid ass canker sore time] -
@FOR-THE-POTATO Thank you!

Canker sores are so annoying. I used to get multiple every week. It's been months since I got one, so I'll share my knowledge with you.
Canker sores can have multiple causes: Low immunity, bacteria, viruses, lesions and irritation.
First of all, make sure you follow a proper oral hygiene routine to prevent bacteria from proliferating and creating canker sores.
My oral routine before bed is:
- Floss teeth
- Scrape tongue
- Brush teeth
- Brush tongue
- Scrape tongue again
- Mouth rinse
If you use commercial toothpaste, make sure to avoid those with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS); and if you use commercial mouthwash, avoid those with alcohol and peg-40. These will irritate the tissues in your mouth and give you canker sores.
Mouth breathing can dry out the oral tissues, which reduces saliva production. Saliva helps protect the mouth from bacteria and irritation. Do mewing and sleep with mouth tape to fix this.
Acidic foods can also irritate your mouth, but I don't think ditching acidic foods is the answer. Just rinse your mouth with water after eating lots of acidic foods. As long as the acid doesn't remain in your mouth, you should be fine. If you are overly sensitive to acidic foods, you probably have an immunity problem.
Make sure you are not deficient in B vitamins, especially B12 and B9. Get lots of sunlight.
To heal canker sores:
- Rinse your mouth with a warm saline solution for 1 minute multiple times throughout the day.
- Apply alum powder directly on the canker sore. Let it sit for 30 seconds to one minute, then rinse your mouth with water and spit it out. Alum has astringent properties that will promote healing and will dry out the sore. Canker sores will feel numb for 3-4 hours, and the pain will be almost gone in one or two days.
- L-Lysine supplementation heals canker sores if they were caused by viral infections.
That's all as far as healing goes. Alum is a total game changer. Give it a try!

yeah swishing with a little water is a good shout, i do that every time i drink juice or eat a fruit to sort the leftover sugar & acid @highseabasch
if not this riboflavin / iron / copper deficiency can play into it sometimes
holding some coconut oil in mouth for a while and boosting folate intake for a few days might speed up healing

I would not use alum as it contains aluminum and probably is harmful.

@Ecstatic_Hamster That’s a good point. I forgot to say that you should only keep the alum directly on the canker sore for about 30 seconds. I’m not sure how much aluminum might be absorbed in that short time.
