@Mossy what about GHK-cu dissolved in DMSO?

GHK-cu is on my very long list of things to try (again). You may have read I did try copper peptides about 15 years ago, for about a 6 month stint. I do feel that it helped with hair color and maybe even retaining hair, but there is no way for me to tell for sure. But, during that time I also declined into the worst health state of my life. I can't necessarily blame copper peptides, because my life was very stressful at that time as well. I'm more apt to blame the stress than supplements. But, ever since that health decline I've never been the same. I can't take supplements like I used to.

Purely from a cost and convenience perspective, I'm more apt to try Diclofenac than more expensive options, such as GHK-cu. If it weren't for the potential sides I would jump right in.

Treatment of alopecia areata by topical diclofenac sodium gel in comparison to benzoyl peroxide gel. A novel single blind therapeutic clinical trial
        ...
Patients were instructed to apply topical 1% diclofenac sodium gel twice daily for 2 months to all affected patches with gentile massage.
        ...
Few and tolerable adverse effects were observed during the course of the treatment of both topical gels, like erythema and itching, but these was resolved spontaneously during the course of the therapy without interrupting the treatment course
        ...
The present study has proved its effectiveness in the treatment of AA as 21 (65.9%) patches showed complete hair regrowth at the end 4 months of follow up.
        ...
The topical multiple successful therapy lead us to speculate that all of them
work through the same mechanism by irritation of the keratinocyte of the hair follicles, and the epidermis to induce the release of immune mediators. These mediators will regulate the dysregulated immunity, hence, stimulating the arrested growth of hair bulb to regenerate again producing a normal coarse hair, this so called “irritant theory” could be applied to other skin diseases like vitiligo.

There are two types of topical diclofenac, diclofenac diethylamine and diclofenac sodium. Diclofenac sodium was used in the available hair loss studies

not all topical diclofenac formulations are the same

@Mossy DMSO is cheap. 1g of GHK-Cu is like $20. Cheaper to make your own. When you tried copper peptides, how did you take them?

Thanks for the info on the budgeted GHK-Cu. Do you have a link for the specific product? My saved link for GHK-Cu has it at $70 for 50mg. This is a product that a member on RPF used, where he would make a solution from this. I forget the specifics, but I'm sure it could be searched out on that forum.

When I used it, I purchased a pre-made product made to be applied topically to the scalp. I forget the name. It was fairly expensive.

Yes, this is what I'm finding as well. I'm only seeing the sodium variety, everywhere I look.

For example, Voltaren - the best selling and most popular Diclofenac gel - is diethylamine.

@Mossy I was buying powder from a random company online. That's a great price. When I run out I'll try that source out.

There are a lot of brands selling GHK-cu products for huge sums. Trendy peptide rn.

I only know what the links posted on this thread have shown. I am very new to Diclofenac and am learning along with everyone else. So, based on the SMJ study link, it does seem the sodium variation would be the one to try.

It is worth pointing out that the SMJ study linked above is for alopecia areata, not androgenetic alopecia, or male pattern baldness. That's not to say that this won't work for MPB, just pointing this out.

I am not seeing that. On Amazon, I see Votaren as the sodium variety:

"Active Ingredients: Diclofenac sodium (NSAID†) 1% (equivalent to 0.93% diclofenac) - Arthritis pain reliever. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug."

Your pricing of $20 for a gram is much better. Maybe you didn't see the weight, but the link I sent shows $70 for 50mg. Yours is 20 times the amount for less than a third of the cost.

I just received my tube of diclofenac, but got terrible tinnitus after first application to the scalp. Then I found this:

                                            https://www.reddit.com/r/tinnitus/comments/u1hl53/im_an_idiot_i_may_have_just_made_my_tinnitus/

Ototoxicity associated with topical administration of diclofenac
                                            https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28583486/

It might be a coincidence and not caused by the diclofenac, there is no reliable evidence of diclofenac being ototoxic when applied to the scalp. But there is evidence of general ototoxicity and n=2 reddit-post evidence of ototoxicity when applied to the scalp.

I prefer to be bald over being deaf so even if there is 0,01% chance of hearing damage I'm going to err to the side of caution
