Title. Curious if any of you have had this issue and overcome it. I think it might be a result of methane-heavy digestion?

From what I've heard antibiotics are more useful for diarrhea than constipation but I'm interested in them. Already using carrot salad and mushrooms to minimal effect. Any resources appreciated

@mycenaefive0 ok nvm yeah you're right it doesn't matter how much FAT is in the thing you're likely consuming over a LITER of a day. that's a stupid question. It must be a magic property in the milk!

@CO3 hahaha. I'm def not drinking a liter of milk a day. Even one cup causes me issues.
I'm pretty new to Ray Peat in general and want to learn, so if there's a particular article I should read w.r.t this issue then I'd appreciate a link!

@mycenaefive0 Oh! Yeah read his books! The book 'How to heal your metabolism' is a good more practical intro too. As well as the podcasts. Search 'Gary null ray peat' in youtube. In general fat will cause some problems. Skim milk is the way to go!

@mycenaefive0 when I started taking thyroid I was drinking only milk 3-4 l a day and I had 3 bowel movements a day. When run out of thyroid I started getting constipated with one small bowel movement a day.
Now I don't take thyroid but I bought some, it's on the way, and Right now digestion is fine only if I eat also some good dark chocolate with milk.
Maybe your issue is thyroid and temperature. Wear heavier clothes, it makes a huge difference. If I have cold hands all day I become constipated too.

@Samyo I don't either. You don't need them for those.

I couldn't tell you these metrics myself, but then again I'm not the one claiming to not be hypo while literally having constipation.

unhomogenized goat milk was the most agreeable but i could never get dairy digestion to the level i wanted it and i suspect the connection between thyroid and dairy intolerance being the cause for myself. this was after trying whole milk, skim, a2, "lactose free" a2, unhomogenized goat milk, etc

the protein in goat milk tends to be more agreeable (doesn't produce β-casomorphin-7) which can have an impact on digestion, but this doesn't really matter that much as you can just drink a2 cow milk. some posit that goat milk having smaller sized fat globules makes for easier digestion.

for myself, trying every milk variation looking for the solution was a bit of cope when the fundamental issue is thyroid it seems. if you address that and dairy digestion becomes agreeable, you can't go wrong with rays recommendation of skim or low fat milk, anything without fortified vitamins or other nasties should work nicely.

my own TSH has been trending upwards for some years now (the top end of the reference range for normal limits is comically high). ray i believe said for a healthy person TSH should be below 1 and anything above that is a sign there could be impaired metabolic health. pulse is important in this context as well because there are other factors that can suppress TSH so you need to check other markers to get a good picture here of your metabolism.
