I suspected the load of posts lately was spam. The writing seemed familiar like it was an automated copy and post robot at work.
Having good moderators is so important. I once got embroiled in a nasty exchange with a gang of very PC woke identity-brainwashed women who were coarser than hoodlums in their manners and I gave the moderator a chance to adjudicate. The moderator took the side of this gang. I thanked the other members, the silent majority, for keeping their peace, and left that forum. Later, on true moderator (like a brad) write me to see if I wanted to rejoin the chat. He had relieved the other moderator for her partiality. I didn't go back though as I felt there was a lot of bad blood and going back there I wouldn't be the same anymore. Even though the gang members were banned.
I thanked healthysoul, the chief moderator, for it.

@yerrag All of the spam posts were evidently written by ChatGPT, but I'm pretty sure they were being manually posted by an actual person.

To the members and the feds. I really don't want this permission. But non-human spam is a genuine annoyance. I'll be dealing with that.
Outlying cases of malice are best reasoned with or berated for sport. I'm really not fond of pressing buttons, ignoring people, or deciding they should be ignored. It's lame.

I nominate Charlie for a mod should have no life.

Might as well post as a reminder to other users reading this topic: I'll be responding to reports, as in you must click the Report button. Once I get the alert I'll handle it according to what Brad said here. I'll be proactive about spam, but the point is that slap-fighting is not the same as reporting. This place is really laid-back and I don't foresee any issues but I figure I might as well say this up front.

The spam is something to deal with. Mobs can easily form that insult, call names and harrass where individuals in concert with each other embolden each to escalate what I would appropriately call bullying in a world already divided along manufactured ideologies meant to distract people from identifying the real sources of malice and division and nip them at the bud.
This forum really is meant to help us dispel falsehoods that the world outside this forum is designed to propagate. It is a safe harbor for critical thinking and thoughtful discussions to improve the human condition. To a reasonable extent in which we find common ground (it is implicit and us felt as a cool breeze that refreshes than suffocates), we minimize censorship and we exchange ideas and viewpoints, in order to increase understanding. I think we welcome being called out, and we may find it hard, but also can be called out.
But there are anal minds among us, at one time or another, which draw the line between being convinced of a suasion, and of being stubborn and proud. Yes, there is a way to deal with that. Ideally, moderators are less involved when we use the ignore button. And if someone here gets ignored many times over my members, he can hopefully get the message and become aware of his presence being a distraction to our goal here and just be more thoughtful with his replies.
Let's make life for our moderators a breeze and make it a cakewalk for them. If only for appreciation of their efforts to maintain a workable civility as we continue toblesrn from each other in this forum.

@yerrag said in Call for Moderators:
But there are anal minds among us
This probably applies to me. But not without a lol.
I read and understand the rest though Mr Yerrag. Don't sweat it. Report the mob!

@brad I have removed @NotShanalotte for overstepping the guidelines I posted here. Please send me a message on here or on X if another moderator attempts to add a bunch of random rules that I never specified.

I edited to remove a slur from Norway un to another user because it made me weep. But that was a compulsion not a rule.
I will accept the consequences.
