Thanks I agree with you about the adrenal hormones. I used to take a supplement called Seriphos for lowering cortisol. Have you heard of it? Last night I remembered that I had some so I took two capsules and I had a great night's sleep.

Do my results show high or low prolactin? Because the results say low, but some people on the RP FB group were saying that it was high. My sex drive disappeared in the last year which is very unusual for me. I heard this is a sign of low prolactin.

@SummerPeach hi an idea going by this, the high estrogen is supposed to increase prolactin, estrogen or androgens can reduce fsh for that to be low end, & androgens can block the prolactin increase by estrogen, maybe suggests you have high enough androgen signalling outweighing the estrogen https://academic.oup.com/biolreprod/article/40/6/1201/2763870

androgens can help with getting pregnant though, directly , some level is essential ,
        https://joe.bioscientifica.com/view/journals/joe/222/3/R141.xml
but if the balnce tips excessively high amounts become counter productive https://academic.oup.com/endo/article-abstract/95/3/722/2618745

(so maybe needs balancing with some progesterone?, timed well though in the luteal phase of your cycle so its not acting as a contraceptive when youre trying to get pregnant, but gives support in preparing your uterus for pregnancy in the last 10 days of your cycle so the egg can implant and nourishes it

        if regular cycles: 7586b819-af60-4492-8363-f4a2085348cb-image.png

(something extra peat said during pregnancy its a good idea to keep salt intake high to help keep nausea and pre-eclampsia at bay)

@cs3000 Thank you! I did take progest-e at a very high dose but got terrible side effects like weight gain and massive amounts of bleeding between periods which scared me.
I read that Vit C increases progesterone. I am likely deficient in Vit C as I am a smoker. Do you think it'd be worth taking a C supp or increasing fruit with high C?

“Taking things” I found doesn’t change - a woman in your position-her metabolic or hormonal profile towards health
Ex: You saw this with progesterone first hand

            Some may abate symptoms
            But not true healing ime

            Food and diet does.

Food is a powerful “chemical” messenger.

This is one reason Ray would speak of nutrient dense foods like oysters, liver etc
Or therapeutic foods such as the carrot salad

The further society drifts from the truth the more it will hate those who speak it.

              Seriphos

I haven't but reading about it, it's not surprising since it has a bunch of serine. I tend to agree with Peatful about using good food as your first step. I made sure my wife was eating three meals a day and otherwise getting enough nutrition for several weeks, then when that wasn't wholly sufficient did I have her try a small amount of thyroid or progesterone.

Understood. Thanks. Back on track now. 🙂

@NotShanalotte Did your wife take progesterone occasionally or frequently?

@SummerPeach She reacted the same as you until her calories/food were in order. Then she started with a popcorn kernel size for several weeks. At first she took it full time but stopped the week before she thought she'd have her period.

yeh i would 2 oranges or 1-2 cups OJ should help protect from the toxins in cigarettes to some extent, not sure how significant the effects are for hormones tho

another relevant thing http://haidut.me/?p=1905 (female smokers had 40% higher chance of quitting smoking during the week of high progesterone compared to any period throughout the study - "When a woman’s progesterone level was increasing from a low level, she smoked fewer cigarettes per day without even knowing it or trying to. But that effect on smoking behavior eventually levels off. When progesterone peaks in a woman’s cycle, it’s very high. The benefits plateau.” He noted that the biggest finding is that quitting success comes from the low to high increase"

so going from low to high progesterone helps quit smoking - so if are low then might benefit, but a supporting lift can be from just getting low milligrams extra & more isnt necessarily better (maybe pushed it too much, or didnt get along with the vit E? or maybe just didnt need it altogether), if arent low (or estrogen signalling already low) then might not benefit)
