advice for gut issues/constipation

ive been struggling with constipation for a while but this post is particularly about what ive been experiencing the past 3 days, i dont know what changed or if it is something i consumed but my colon feels so inflamed and i feel so backed up to the point where i cant even pass gas. Every day I try to trigger a bowel movement (eg. with a coffee which always worked) I sit on the toilet for 30 mins and nothing. I feel like i need to go but cant. I feel like my colon is closed shut and im so uncomfortable. It’s affecting my appetite, sleep, and stress levels and i dont know what to do to bring some relief. Any advice on how to get my colon to relax and let out everything it’s holding on to? something that’s safe… i dont feel comfortable experimenting with something that might make me feel even worse. not sure if anyone’s experienced this before. would really appreciate any advice for both the long term but especially instant relief

@Tarzan17 hi some common recommends are carrot salad , cascara ,
for me some daily bromelain + eating a meal with some organic wholegrain for the fiber worked for the most part after many months of severe constipation (would go a week without any bowel movement). 10 minute walks i think give you a chance in right conditions,
in an emergency you can use magnesium citrate or very high salt in a big glass of water and turn into a human pressure washer for a few rounds -
Enemas. Start with saline. then try coffee, lemon juice, chamomile, or coconut oil. When you're that backed up, I think enemas are the safest option to clear the toxins quickly.

I highly recommend cascara sagrada from a good source (I buy it from Saturee, works better than others). It really works and I had the same issues as you had. I take it 3 X a day. Not aggressive

@happyhanneke i have this. how much do you take at a time? i worry to use it all the time. I took 1/4 tsp today evening hoping it helps by tmrw morning. for some reason… some times it helps… but there are times it hasn’t. Ive tried 1/8 the past 2 days with no luck but that used to help before.

@Tarzan17 Taking it every now and then doesn't work I think. I take it 3X a day. The amount you have to find out for yourself. If I take it consistently I only take maybe 1/4 teaspoon or less.
-
@happyhanneke oh okay. how long have you been doing this? do you ever stop taking it?
-
@Tarzan17
maybe 2 months. I'm not worried about it. Maybe I will stop. For now I really like it and it gives me easy 2 bowel movements a day. No loose stools either.
I used to have colitis and basically am cured but it turned into constipation. I'm not doing well with any other products, it usually turns into a colitis flare up. This does not. -

I like the idea of taking very small amounts. Do you take this between meals?
-
@Tarzan17 have you considered the precurosr to glycine and collagen, Threonine?
-
Usually after my meal but I don't overthink it. Sometimes I forget and just take it in between meals.

Interesting that either way works for you. Thanks for the detail.

@Mossy I think you should try it 3X daily for a while and see if you improve. If it doesn't then up the dosage. That's how I did it and it worked very well. It takes a bit before you get regular.

I think that is a good approach. I will probably start with the 1/8th tsp, as I have the most sensitive and disagreeable system I know.
