Twitter is for sound bites. Many in this sphere need more than sound bites. Which is why many subscribed to Peat's newsletters (to provide sound bites Peat was gracious enough to answer the simple questions from the old lady at the Herbal Doctor's program then).
There are short 6-month courses for technicians. And there are PhDs that take 7 years for the breadth and depth needed to be able to develop the insight into matters to synthesize from prior breakthroughs in the field to move forward on discoveries.
-
Ironically I think the twitter crossover ran off some sweet and wonderful people who had been around Peat forever.
Jay Feldman, Danny Roddy, and Kyle Mamounis make some deep videos on YouTube.

For sure. The pros or pro wannabes can leverage the use of social media to promote their stature and their services. They can write books, make podcasts and vlogs, and they can gain a following and some income opportunities and make it their career/vocation.
Many who don't have time nor interest in learning more deeply Peatology but want someone familiar with it to hold their hands in improving their health would want to go to their feeds.
But I personally feel that finding a balance between the demands of being an enabler of the spread of useful information risks not having enough time anymore to peek into unexplored and obscure crevices that lead to discoveries. What happens is they go into recursive patterns of affirmation that may exalt them but not necessarily make them on the leading and cutting edge of the field. This is the classic dilemma of being a conventional doctor, who has long stopped learning new tricks, as old dogs do, but are more popular than ever given that their patients don't know any better than recommend the familiar to their friends and colleagues.
You might ask why Peat chose the relative obscurity of writing newsletters instead of other more lucrative sources of income. He could have chosen for be a $400/hr health coach. Speaking of high fee coaches, do they really give value for the services they give, when looking at them they don't exactly exude an aura of health, and when they do, d?o they really project that aura without going to body shops to have fillers and a makeover? Just goes to show there is a lot of unknown we are dealing with, and no doctor or coach can help more than what one can on himself by being on that journey of discovery himself.

Yeah, well said. This is the Think part to Perceive and Act.
People on Twitter/X seem to have decent knowledge, but they seem to forget that learning is social and is in many aspects forged in creative dialogue...
Ray mentioned many times that one of his aims in publishing newsletters was also a way to get creative/constructive critique/feedback.BTW I miss creative discussions with Haidut on the old forum or podcasts - it looks like he temporarily withdrew from online activity...
-
I am definitely in a deficiency of Haidut rabbit holes. Does seem like BE output is low online lately. Seems like consciousness is kind of low in general in my neck of the woods. Winter? What ever happened to Tim Burzins? I loved his YouTube vids. Mike Fave is crushing it in youtube. I definitely recommend him for dialing in the basics. Anabology seems rad but only one vid. T3 uncoupled is the best writer in my book. On Substack. Danny is great but seems burnt out? Idk! Love that guy but he has a love hate relationship with being a content creator.
I’ve also heard that 75~85% of the internet is just bots and ai talkings to itself…
I would love to meet human beings for coffee and cheese and high level discussion of how to end digital culture and demilitarize society.
And how to grow more fruit trees. I got a few people in my real world to bounce off ideas with thank god. But I need a Peat Gang. Pronto. Si? -
@dapose
A lot is happening now geopolitically, or maybe it's just winter...
Or are people waiting for RFK Jr. to step in?
Or maybe it is a kind of hard time after Ray's death - some of his ideas are spreading in the wild but not always in ways Ray would like... The old forum collapsed badly, and maybe some of the enthusiasm has died down...
Also, the beef between Danny and Haidut was pretty destructive...Moreover, digital culture and the military-industrial complex are pushing hard to prevail.
I’ve also heard that 75~85% of the internet is just bots and ai talkings to itself…
For sure, but probably the percentage is a bit lower (I hope)

Since we are probably spread geographically all over the world... -

Also, the beef between Danny and Haidut was pretty destructive...That whole collapse of a partnership situation did not feel organic to me. I still listen to most old GE podcast all the time, as I’ve come to learn more and more I hear things in them that I didn’t understand the first time. I truly think somehow that was orchestrated to separate those two minds and crash the podcast. I wish them both well and good health.

Since we are probably spread geographically all over the world...I appreciate everything you wrote. Thanks for engaging with this! I think somehow we all need to start meeting up in our dreams. Like the aboriginals did in Australia!! They use to have Dreamtime where they all hung out in their dreams together! 🥱

Si?I'm just assuming I'm not talking to a computer / AI, but yes, you're right. Dead internet is apparent. This new great admin I think is pulling some wool over the algos' eyes.
On fruit trees - have you seen The Wicker Man? An island in Scotland founded by a radical scientist who revives paganism and - hint - fruit trees. Sounds eerily reminiscent of the Soviet citrus program in Georgia. When the crop inevitably fails their folk ideology requires human sacrifice. All these off-grid ideas seemingly lead to variations of The Lottery / Girard-ian Scapegoating / Wicker Man / Lord of the Flies situations. One of the most disturbing things about the movie is that both systems are at peace: the pagan village has a worthy sacrifice, and the truly devout Christian becomes a martyr.

@Kvirion why do Danny and haidut have beef?

Haidut was on Mercola's podcast and Mercola badmouthed Dr. Peat's Progest-E product. Danny took it personally and cut ties with haidut. That's the short version. Maybe there's more to it.
It was a good podcast [Edit: Generative Energy, not the Mercola one]. Too bad it ended because of such bs.

This is a pretty nice forum from what I’ve seen. Couple a goof balls here and there that could probably use a few hours more sunlight a day truth be told.

Sounds juicy! I will check it out! Thanks!
Fruit trees planted in my yard include two cherry trees one red delicious apple an edible crab apple two plum trees, some paw paw trees, goji berries goose berries strawberry ground covers and lots of native wildflowers!
Peace! -
@dapose awesome. And for whatever reason I meant the national / us admin not this forum

this seems far more promising:

Longevity, biohacking, transhumanism, life extension, cryonics. This does look entertaining, thanks.

also very active, but more narrow:

https://www.actualized.org/forum/not so active anymore, but still many gems in it:

Yeah, me too.
I hope Haidut will be a more frequent guest on the Strong SItas podcast.
Yep, I would also like such kind of native/indigenous animism (like Aboriginals in Australia) to become a thing again...
BTW
Danny and Haidut's beef ended a year ago with a declaration of peace, but it seems that some bad blood stayed... -
@Milchbubi Nah, biohackers are usually still reductionist in mind...

I think this forum has fairly good activity considering it's only been open for what, a year? It doesn't have the name Ray Peat on it, which is why the other forum was able to grow so so much over a lot more years. People just need to spread the word. I wouldn't have found this if I hadn't seen someone tweet about it. I do think platforms like X have kinda taken a lot of the people who would have come here. They have communities you can join on X now, and Ray Peat is one community I joined. It's like being on a forum.

Been away from the forum for a while, came back to see what’s happening. I haven’t been on the forum because it is really bad for my mental health. My social life and life in general takes a backseat to health.
Health is like a wild goose chase sometimes and because of that it in my opinion it can actually be healthier to take a look at your life and its direction than fix a problem that needs not be fixed. I think a lot of people delude themselves into a lack of Health and vitality (although not all).
Pursuing avenues that you want to explore in a creative way is much more healthy than “trying” to fix a problem related to your health sometimes and I think activated learned helplessness especially when trying solutions that don’t seem to work.
Taking the avenue that nothing needs to be fixed within your body is the first step and Ray spoke of this when taking about cancer treatment and how doctors feel the need to hack away at the body to remove the cancer.
Recently I’ve been thinking of Danny and Ray talk about people who have a purpose and direction in life through meaningful work. Danny points out that Ray (and himself I’m assuming) always seem to note that these people have the most vitality, look the youngest and have that youthful energy. I myself have noticed this.
Ray also said that when people tend to forget (or stop obsessing) about health they tend to be a lot healthier at that point.
The stress of obsessing over health (I emphasise the obsessing part) is probably worse than living life eating similarly to others who are not.
Another point is the point of the conscious mind. Ray said that he likes to take days (it might have been a week) where he doesn’t like to do much speaking or reading or writing, only focussing on the visual and I think this is related to activating the conscious mind. When you’re constantly being bombarded by language and information on forums your concious mind is also being activated, leaving little room for the subconscious to do the processing, I’ve noticed that some days I might take a break from talking or listening to music so much and all of a sudden I’m more fluent in both instruments and language. (This may be related to serotonin systems)
Brute de force speaks of the subconscious a lot if you know of him.
I wear glasses, I’ve noticed when taking them off and focusing on what I see for extended periods of time my vision gets better, slowly but surely. I’m more direct in my speech, I want to progress my life.
This is all to say that these forums may be a place meant for infrequent use and not to be checked daily. If you are serious about cultivating knowledge you’ll abandon the wild goose chase and allow the subconscious to do its processing, let the conscious mind rest while you recharge for the next conquest.
And this may be a step in the right direction showing that people are living and not ruminating.
Thanks for reading my monologue, as I say I don’t check the forum much anymore but be sure to leave your thoughts if you think I’m talking absolute rubbish or not I’d love to hear it.
