apparently actual RDA for copper should be like 8mg

very few foods have a neutral copper / zinc ratio

eating liver often can get boring

squid has almost 1:1 zinc copper, and approximately 210g raw weight squid meat will give approximately 4mg copper

rest of diet can supply about 4mg copper
can have squid 3x a week I think, it is relatively low mercury and the species sold for calamari are small so they don't accumulate a lot of stuff I don't think . I think they have 1/5th the mercury of most tunas.

Yes, this is why I like squid. It's also low PUFA and high in cholesterol.

@sushi_is_cringe Where do you buy? I usually get it from whole foods, Tubes and Tentacles, Town Dock brand. Says its wild caught.

If the "flesh meat" of the squid has that much copper, imagine a squid liver xD

I'm also interested in the heart and brain of it. Idk why but I wanna eat it 🙂

@jamezb46 the loblaws brand of stores in Canada carries the widest variety of foods, especially seafood, and they have a few squid products:

-whole frozen squids from California. these need to be thawed and processed (squeeze out the guts and remove the cartilage and cut and trim. its not actually too bad to do this)

              -cut tops (rings) frozen

              -the whole tops frozen

              -tentacles

              -breaded calamari rings

idk the origins of the other ones and some of them have sodium pyrophosphate or salt added

the organs of the squid is just a gooey lumpy mess. idk how it would be good to eat. maybe you're thinking of a larger squid tho. these are the tiny guys. everything inside of one of them could fit on a normal spoon.

I cleaned 2.2lb frozen squid and ended up with approximately 600g meat. Some of the larger squids had this gelatinous and almost scrumptious looking innards... I admit to not trying it. The skin is recommended to peel off the purple skin and I did, some pieces had a bit left on and it turns chewy after cooking. Next time I will probably leave that on.

I ate approximately 200g of squid with some jasmine white rice and coconut oil and salt and a 1/4 of a pineapple after. Afterwards, I went into a euphoria sitting on a chair where I drifted off to a half-waking dream. Intense and pleasurable.

After coming to, I watched a somewhat cringe and idiotic movie after and skipped all the relationship / love parts and watched the action parts. It was a dumb and gay film with an unhappy ending, I think the writer thought it was epic and cool and introspective, but it just seemed like they were trying too hard.

I had another 200g of squid today. In total by mid-day I have had at least 4mg of copper. I am going to aim for this as a minimum for a daily intake for awhile as I think the regular 300g of beef I have been having a day has given too much zinc in relation to copper for optimal well-being. I will continue with the beef as well, just the addition the squid to adjust the ratio of zinc:copper
