I've seen it mentioned a lot around here, what are the benefits of it? Post your recommended recipes as well

Benefits are it clears out your gut. Excess bacteria, some of which produce endotoxin, can wreak havoc on your body, particularly if you have a semi-leaky gut (which many people do). The carrot, coconut oil, and vinegar are all anti-microbial, so it is like taking a very mild antibiotic. Also improves gut motility and gently scrapes against your intestinal lining to stimulate repair.

Recipe: Shave carrots lengthwise using a vegetable peeler. Dress with (melted) coconut oil, white vinegar, and salt.

I've been doing the carrot salad with cascara sagrada. Not sure if it helps push the cascara sagrada to the right place but bowel movements are good from doing this.

My gut feels more bloated and noisy whenever I eat the carrot salad. is this a detox reaction or something like that or am I just responding poorly to it?

@bruh Not sure, you should be having regular and well formed bowel movements after eating it. You might have bacterial overgrowth.

necro'ing, but I used to have bad reactions to the "salad", but I think it's because of one thing:
                        The word "salad",
try to think of it more of like a sugared apple (sugared carrot) type situation, and make it a treat.
If I don't do it I get nasty bowel movements.

@pittybitty Ray said it's as hard on the bacteria as it is on your gut. especially raw. Raw is insane.

As someone who has a very sensitive gut, I find that when all else fails just a raw, skinned carrot taken along with salt, dissolved in soda or juice, creates the lest disturbance, and usually results in helping digestion and promotes elimination. The oils (coconut or olive) and vinegar can be a gamble, in terms of gut distress. I don't doubt that they're doing their job, they just can create too much trouble.
