RPF states the weather in Dallas has knocked down it's site. Dallas is where the datacenter is. Something tells me this isn't the case

@risingfire yeh seems a little odd that it took this long to get a simple update message about what has happened.

      —

      New update just now:

We have decided to move away from our current host. It seems that the damage was quite extensive to the servers and they are overwhelmed. I have been with them for 8 years and they have been really great up till the last year or so. I think the original guys that ran it, sold out to a big corporation and the customer service has dropped off big time. The communication from the hosting company this past week has absolutely abysmal. I understand they had a catastrophic event, but they really dropped the ball.

I have purchased a new server, our long time server guy Matt will start working on it tomorrow and getting it ready to go. He hopes to have everything done in a couple of days, so hopefully by Monday we should be back up and running.

I sincerely appreciate everyone’s patience while we get the forum back online. This is the longest the forum has ever been down if I am remembering correctly. I was hoping our hosting company would be able to pull it together but it just seems like they are not able to so its time to move on.

We will be back and stronger and less toxic then ever. The low “vitamin A” and low toxin lifestyle is without a doubt the way going forward. “vitamin A” is not even a vitamin, reconcile.

Not sure if the last paragraph was necessary, but definitely gives more credence to questioning whether it really was the “storms”.

        Genuine question:

Aside from what he states; is there any other benefit to this?

Let’s say something is awry or off with this explanation….

        What is being accomplished here?

Snap out of it Coleman. Or rebrand under your other domain. What you're doing is dishonourable and discordant with facts. Reconcile.

His explanation is cognitively consistent. Which doesn't look good to people versed in provision of technical service.

He's now breathing oxygen into his crusade by trying to make out that others are as engaged in it (and obviously upset!) as he is.

That he's still obsessed with 'Ray Peat followers' tell us plenty.

Imho one way to help Ray Peat's reputation survive this onslaught is to simply roll him into the greater bioenergetic movement, which he is a major part of. If his name is used in the outside world constantly it provides a vector for attack, whereas the phrase "bioenergetic" sounds more scientific and less fad-like, nebulous and difficult to criticize.

I read a very interesting quote on the ray peat forum in one of the most recent threads:

"Here you go. Garrett Smith prefers sunflower oil , #ggenereux claims that coconut oil is no good because it delivers vit A all around your system and now biochemist Karen Hurd calls it coconut fad . Who would think...

Mitochondria converts saturated fat into unsaturated fat through the beta oxidation cycle , 6 step process, within which you create free-radical damage , that is radical oxidative species which damage your DNA within cells . Now you know why you have aging , gray hair , cancer ...
We alter our DNA because we have these free radicals because we had to turn bad fat (saturated) into a good fat (unsaturated)..."

As far as I know, it's very rare for saturated fat to convert into unsaturated fats. I've only read one study where they needed technology to convert it.

                            https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1369703X23001559

Does anyone with a better understanding of biochemistry know if it's common for this conversion?

I understand what you're saying, but...

                              https://x.com/PeatPill/status/1795642939843969140

The body seems to be very very good at storing enough for long term reduction or total absence. Consistent (to me) with highly variable supply in the absence of "civilisation". And probably because it's so important for us.

Looks like the recent downtime has not stopped him from continued forum suicide.

Still banning everyone under the sun. Anyone have any data on how much the traffic is down on the forum?

I still have my old account but I'm afraid to post anything about any subject because it will either get overwhelmed with Anti-vitamin A detox garbage or it will offend his holiness @Charlie somehow.

The SCD1 enzyme converts saturated into monounsaturated fat.

The Dr. Stephens stuff put the spotlight back on a lot of Ray Peat principles.
