Study: T3 and psychosis
-
I came across this interesting study comparing the medical standard T4 monotherapy against T3+T4 combination therapy in hypothyroid people. They found the combination therapy was more effective at lowering TSH with no adverse side effects, except an increase in the use of antipsychotic medications, compared to the T4-only group.
My immediate suspicion when I read this was that maybe the inclusion of T3 improved their cognition so much, it had a "redpilling" effect. @haidut has spoken before about how depression (to some extent) is a rational response to the declining state of the environment these days (the study was done from 1997-2014 I believe). Maybe in some cases improved thyroid function could sensitize a person to this. It would be ideal to research healthy bioenergetic coping mechanisms for such cases, rather than having to rely on pharma antipsychotics.

That's a really unique viewpoint. It seems possible. Maybe some of them were nearly in a coma until they got the t3.
I would have just assumed it's because t3 is harder to dose and so it can sometimes cause sleep disruptions or anxiety.
RP would talk about nibbling on a t3 tablet trying to keep levels even.

Interesting.
I think people aren't aware of how difficult it can be to correctly dose T3 ,let alone T4. -
Would you still recommend a mix of t4+t3, or simply trying to find a good t3 only dose?
-
@PrinceTrebata I'd say long term T3/T4 ,but getting T3 dosage right is a lot easier.
Even a little T3 can go a long way. -
@Mauritio Appreciate it. That was the conclusion I had arrived to as well but I have heard some people do t3 only. If you don't mind sharing what dose t3/t4 did you find works for you?
