Weight gaining

@Chud I second this. I had a milkshake everyday while bulking, and gained like 40 pounds in 6 months. You will gain fat though.
Cutting has been easy on high carb, low fat with T3, b-vits etc.
Next bulk I'm going high carb, moderate to lowish fat.

@cris how is your appetite ? Your stress levels ?
Off the top of my head and expanding on some useful answers already posted...
Carve some "vital space" for yourself. Dedicate some time each day to do what you feel like doing. Be a little bit egoistic.
Get a girlfriend if you don't have one. If you have one, terminate your relationship if you feel/know it's not right for you.
Speak with sincerity. Don't bottle things up in your day to day.
Put yourself in situations where it's easy for you to belly laugh, be it with friends, family, toddlers...
Strike up casual conversations in your neighborhood/classes/general vicinity.
Make someone a little present, no matter how trifle. The gist is to lean into a feeling of security that brings about self-expression. Or the other way round.
Think of a (good) king of old in his throne: benevolent, regal, prolific and round. A lover of the arts but also a protector of the people. Self-assured.
Maybe you tap into this energy as inspiration, you just have to recognise it in your daily life. Hope it helps.

Count your calories. That's huge. Be patient. Don't get fat. Figure out your BMR then increase your calories by around 500. Do low-impact cardiovascular activity, either walking or stationary bike with a slightly elevated heart rate.
However, bulking foods that are "peaty" would mostly be milk and ice cream without additives. Ray Peat usually drank skim milk, but if you can tolerate fat well I'd suggest full-fat milk.
I don't know where you are, but there's this new ice cream on the market called "Ice Cream for Bears." It's pretty much skim milk and raw honey. It tastes pretty good.Personally, as a bodybuilder myself, I do have rice and oatmeal. The oatmeal is soaked and the rice is regular white rice. This isn't the most "peaty" but most people who follow Peat's ideas down to a T aren't bodybuilders and are dealing with serious metabolic issues. I'm blessed to not have such issues.
Train hard, sleep lots, trust the process. May your biceps cover the sun.

@onliest Can you please let me know what type of milkshake were you drinking for your bulk?
-
@zeebee the more expensive vanilla ice cream from Aldi without the gums, scoop of vanilla whey (not peaty), whole milk/water, ice
very tasty
-
@onliest yes those are my shit
-
@cokefiend I'm not touching whey anymore. I think brotein up to 1g/lb is a meme. Had much more success upping my carbs.
-
@onliest same, whey fucked my stomach up years ago. 1g/lb is a big protein psyop to sell all these nasty ass products w gums & emulsifiers in them. In the mean time, I'll be milk and ice cream maxxing
-
@cokefiend Yah the high protein fad needs to die. A doc I work with was eating protein chips the other day lol. I do well with dairy, beef and gelatin and around 100-120g total protein.
-
@onliest I honestly don't even track, I'm guessing I'm probably around 100g/day. But I'm pretty underweight rn 170 @ 6'3 trying to get to 180/190 it's been a struggle. I'm eating anything I can get my hands on
-
@cokefiend avoiding pufa obvi
-
@cokefiend That's funny I'm 6'3" 210 prolly 16-18% bf trying to cut down to like 190-195 now. I was in your shoes a little over a year ago.
If I was trying to gain weight I'd eat a lot of starches, pastries, sugar, ice cream, and 2%-full fat dairy. Just be careful eating too much fat because an excess will make you fat. I'd aim for less than 75g. I took the bulk too far up to around 230lbs and my mom called me fat.
-
@onliest Hahahaha when mom is calling you fat you probably took it a little too far.
I'm consuming all of those things probably just not enough. I get a good amount of fat from dairy and can tell it directly translate's to fat on the body but I feel like it's a healthy fat.
My workout's are also pretty intensive I love sprinting, jumping, and basketball so those burn a ton of cal's.

Second this! Eating over 200g of protein a day was wrecking my digestion and making me feel fat / full all the time. Been doing high carb low fat med protein lately and I feel like a superhuman. Ample protein is needed to put on some size but it’s not the end all be all
