      @risingfire

      The problem is an overactive adrenal gland mostly

      I think it is too much DHEA-S but testosterone is normal

        @wester130 I generally view that as a sign of balding. Too much prolactin

          even if it is cortisol, wouldn't estrogen be a factor?
          Older guys often get lots of nose/ear/back hair but testosterone is lower. What is the relation of cortisol to estrogen?

            @Corngold I honestly don't know.

            Many people get good results with finasteride, and things like nettle root, spearmint and vitex.

            I think it's an imbalance of hormones, not the amount

              @Corngold the stress hormones beget one another. Increased estrogen can lead to increased prolactin which can increase adrenaline. Nose/ear may have nothing to do with androgens

                "it’s bcus of insulin spikes. Insulin spikes = hyper insulinemia = low SHBG = hyperandrogenism = excess nose, ear, hair growth."

                        @wester130 as I stated before, I don't think male pcos is characterized by high androgens including "excess dht." I've seen females with pcos. They tend to have high estrogen, blood sugar and cortisol. Most likely similar with males.

                          it's neither

                          it's SHBG we want to investigate

                            @wester130 I thought Ray said SHBG should be higher. Don't quote me on that. Are you under the impression that it's lower and it's causing a greater concentration of nose and ear hair?

                              I am under the impression something is causing hyperandrogenism, and it's likely related to SHBG

                                  @risingfire they won't test for things like FSH, LH, T and DHT and shbg

                                        @wester130 In the US you can take a lot of these tests without doctors approval. Not sure about UK

                                          do you think the pituitary is the problem?
