      Ok so I had histamine allergy issues for over a year. Never before in my life did I blow threw boxes of Kleenex like I did is 2024. I took Benadryl or Cyproheptadine or both every night. Which absolutely helped. I read every damn thing I could on allergies… gut health etc… found all kinds of interesting things that “helped” the problem. But the thing that solved cured stopped my allergies 98% was my wife refusing to let me put collagen powder in our morning coffee. She said that shit bothers me I don’t like it! I said what the hell are you talking about? We need it! I finally listened to her and cut it for a three day experiment. Good god people. What in the hell? Completely helped sinuses itchy eyes sneezing throughout the day. A month later I still am just mad about taking collagen peptides everyday. It was the one thing I never tried eliminating. I have not needed Cyproheptadine or Benadryl since.

        In my experience, collagen powder (Vital proteins, Sprouts grocery store generic) causes sharp stomach pain when used in smoothies and milder but still present stomach pain when used in hot beverages.

        I don't have this problem with home made or commercial bone (skin) broth.

          Bone broth or collagen powder is classified L2 (set free) for histamine. Not advised in crisis. Need DAO enzyme min. 1 ooo units to help.
          Not advised L2 or 3 , nor H2 or 3 when overloaded.

            Great story. I dissolve collagen into my morning coffee as well. I would not have considered collagen to be one of the usual suspects.

            As the image below shows, collagen is a good source of glycine.

            Glycine is a healthy amino acid. I bookend my day with a source of glycine in the evening as well. I generally just dissolve glycine in water before bed.

              Thanks for the feedback everyone. Yeah I totally subscribe to the idea of more collagen more glycine more better. Definitely why it was the last thing in my elimination experiments. I thought well I won’t die if I skip CP for a few days. And after day one I was clearer. Day 30+ I’m convinced that powder in coffee or tea is bad to the bone. Only other thing that I know gets me sneezing and itchy eyed is if I go ape shit on a bag of dried mangos. A handful is fine but 5 handfuls…

              I’m sticking with ground beef for whatever amount of glycine is in that. Makes me feel great. I also do good with magnesium glycinate!

                  Well that’s interesting. The thing is, I can eat abunch of foods that are high histamine and have no problems. I really believe there is some manufacturing element to collagen powder that is extremely irritating. Haven’t fully investigated this so I’m not exactly sure.
                  Once and awhile I eat a dinner that is a can of oysters drained and add Umboshi vinegar. Parmesan cheese, popcorn popped in ghee with salt. And Genoa meat slices with sweet pickles. All super high histamine foods. This meal is delicious and I thought for sure it was a problem but it never has been… I tested it last week.
                  Ground beef is all good with me too. Idk.
                  Something about collagen irritated the gut. Whenever I have spilled collagen coffee or got some powder on my fingers it is extremely sticky. It could be used for glue. My guess is that it sticks to the gut lining and just irritates the hell out of that thin tissue.

                    Yeah, most collagen powders have heavy metals unfortunately. was getting really bad NO symptoms until i swapped the powder food real soups.

                      @dapose idk but I think most if not all supplements are useless... eat gelatinous meats and garlic, onions, ginger.

                        Do you suggest garlic, onions and ginger for a specific reason?

                          @random idk I just always breathe and feel better after these foods. I think citrus and some herbs also support the immune system. I've never had much histamine problem except seasonal allergies and wine. Wine is a big problem so I avoid it.

                              From what food/environnemental sources do you think people are prone to accumulating mercury? I don't know if you're referring to people in general or people who are influenced by "bioenergetic" ideas

                                NB: No more than one fish predator once a week.
                                Selenium must be higher than mercury.

                                  We should have less Hg (mercury) than Se. Maximum ratio 1.
                                  I’d avoid fish predator as Haddock, sea bream, halibut and specifically tuna. Never more than once a week when eating a predator.
                                  Tuna ratio is 331/36. It depends on the species too. Therefore, it's highly toxic. Expressed in ppm per 100g of fish, this gives a ratio of 9.2. But in canned fish, this ratio is closer to 2/1 or 1/1 (extracted oil), I think.
