      Experiencing pleasant effects from 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda dissolved in water before bed. Waking up is easier and coffee doesn't irritate my gut as much. Thanks @anabology and @robertlasagna1 for recommending.

        @Warren I have been experimenting with a similar ammount dissolved in some sparkling water as pre workout for the past few weeks,it has made me feel stronger and energetic.

            Had a little less than 1/2 tsp in some water a couple of nights ago. It didn't put me to sleep but it was one of the better and more restful sleeps i've had recently, and yes i woke up gently/easy. I do wonder if there's any connection.

            Have also been using baking soda in other ways for quite a while, just a bit in my coffees and juices, etc.

              Betain HCL is required to optimize digestion of proteins. once a day.

              => Repolarization of Macrophages M1 <> M2 (Bicarbonate makes it possible to repolarize the cells).

              The cells are excited. They need reframing. Balance to seek between excitement and appeasement.

                When this adaptation occurs, cell boundary layer loses its its barrier property in its structure, allowing more calcium to enter the cell than is optimal. The calcium gradient is diminished, and this degrades the muscles ability to contract and relax efficiently.

                This is why the heart rate increases to tachycardia levels, because the heart is a muscle, and as it becomes more inefficient as a pump, has to pump more as the heart rate increases.

                    I actually look at the opposing actions of M1 and M2 macrophages with a grain of salt. The use of M1 and M2 macrophages to explain away the harm in using PUFAs by the notion of omega-6 being contributory to the M1 inflammatory response, and omega-3 being conducive to an anti-inflammatory response, thus bringing about a healthy balancing of the immune response- is downright mendacity by medical researchers.

                    Thanks to Ray Peat we don't buy that medical narrative. I hope tou understand how much I question their once again. using M1 and M2 to explain the benefits of baking soda in treating the inflammatory response involved in arthritis.

                    Add: Pre-Peat I took omega-3 to balance inflammatory effects of omega-6, which together formed the heart healthy core of the AHA, which was very influential in causing their factotum CSPI to lead a heart-healthy crusade against beef tallow as used then by McDonald's to deepfry French fries.
                    Back then, Udo Erasmus was very popular with his book "Fats that Heal, Fats that Kill." That book led in establishing the mainstream discourse that PUFAd are good because of the anti and pro-inflammatory tandem duality or omega 3 together with omega 6.
