Losing weight as fast as possible

@notmcas Just keep your carbohydrate and protein intake where it normally is, and drop about 200-300 calories from dietary fats. Even though you're in a deficit, the protein and carbs will keep your metabolic rate where it should be. Get vitamin D and eat plenty of calcium. Make sure you salt your food. Very often one can drop a couple hundred calories in a given day by just making a simple switch from whole milk to 1% milk. If you're not a milk drinker then find somewhere else to make that cut. Instead of eating 85% lean hamburger eat 93% lean hamburger. Skim the fat off your broths or soups, eat dry toast instead of buttered toast, etc.

“Protein sparing modified fast” if you don’t care about long term health.
If you do, you’re gonna have to dedicated 2-4hrs of walking a day while going as low fat as possible. Sprinkle in some resistance training and you’re on your way.

@CO3 You're in Luck, thank Brad for making Peatbot. This is one of them (there's more, he's said this multiple times across many different interviews), start at the 57:00 mark.
Are you stupid?
-
@CO3 What part of that is confusing for you?
-
@Mulloch94 FOR ME? You think Ray was advocating for calorie restriction based on him saying whole milk is not optimal and you're asking me what's confusing to ME? Waste of breath this conversation.
-

Lets think back for a second, I know that requires brain power, so bare with me. But why was it Ray said whole milk wasn't optimal for some people again? The "why" and the "some" being key to unlocking this mystery here. Whole milk being not ideal for sedentary people (the some) because the excess calories could make them fat (the why).
You asked for it, I supplied it, and now you can't accept it? I suppose that's par for the course with modern day internet discourse. I must admit to a certain level of blame here myself. I, too, should've had the wherewithal to see this conversation was a waste. For a variety of reasons, not the least of which I already knew Ray's views on the subject matter. But more importantly, I should've realized internet keyboard warriors can never admit when they're wrong, and even when presented with facts as strong as gravity itself, they'll dig their heels in and remain whiny little bitches about it.

Excess calories can make people fat but that does not imply that calorie deficit makes people lose weight.
-
@Mulloch94 Lol he was talking about whole milk though and not cherimoyas? You have to look at the whole context, not just hear one word you wanted to hear and jump up and down like 'teacher teacher he said the word look i'm right'

Yes it does.

@Crypt-Keeper If you're dumb and just reduce calories your metoblism will drop and your calorie "deficit" will be your new maintenance level.

True, and then one is no longer in a deficit. But nevertheless, a deficit is needed to lose bodyfat. Hence the very real-world difficulty that people encounter when trying to lose weight, or when getting very lean for a contest.
You can do tricks to try to keep your metabolism up, but at the end of the day you still need to be in a deficit lose bodyfat. It's just the laws of energy.

Funny, you talking about context. You missed the entire point. It wasn't about milk. It's about less active people needing less calories. Not sure how you aren't comprehending this...lmao.

Exactly. Ray's views on metabolism have never been in conflict with CICO...despite some people's wishes to the contrary. These gatekeepers sound more like Gary Taubes than Ray Peat

@notmcas I've had good success with an anabology-inspired diet.
Unlimited (yes unlimited) sugary drinks and coffee with sugar during the day (no protein or fat). Then one big meal with moderate protein and fat in the evening. Walk as much as your schedule allows. Lift 3x a week.
Conversely, you could probably lose 30lbs in 3-4 weeks running DNP but DYOR on that.

You're never in a true deficit then because the lower your calories go the worse your metabolism gets.

"Conservation of energy" argument is the most idiotic argument for CICO as proved by your "then it's no longer a deficit" take.

The metabolism doesn't adapt that fast and the largest part of your BMR is determined by your body mass anyway. Have you ever lost weight before? Tell us how you can lose bodyfat without being in a deficit then. The whole world would love to know. The entire fitness and bodybuilding community would love to have this answer.
I guarantee you're going to tell me something that manipulates one or the other side of the CICO equation.

The entire world knows about CICO that's why everyone is skinny and fit, right?
The essence of Peatism is that you need to fix your metabolism first. If you have poisoned thyroid no amount of calorie will put you in "muh, deficit".
-
Provided you aren't hypothyroid, the best way to increase your basal metabolism so you can eat more calories is to gain lean muscle. The more muscle you have the more fat you burn at rest, also the more glycogen you can hold.
