Goat milk fat is 30-35% MCTs

Cows milk fat is 15-20% MCTs

Goat milk fat also has about 14.5% higher cholesterol content than cows milk fat. It is also 100% A2 protein making it easier to digest. Is goat milk a better choice than cow's?

@Sugarnotsnow Do you know it's sugar content? So far, I think human and donkey's milks are toward the top in sugar content.

@Sugarnotsnow no problem, that's a new saying I learned from a podcast so I guess it's not saturated culture yet 😛

Goatmilk seems to be better than cow's milk when it comes to vitamins and minerals.

I own and milk my own goats, I certainly feel better on goat milk than I do cows milk for what it’s worth.

For me, A2/A2 cow’s milk is a better choice. I have to add sweetener to goat’s milk to get the same pro-metabolic effect as cow’s milk, and I enjoy the flavor of cow’s milk more. I find the musky flavor of goat’s milk when heated up for hot cocoa to be off-putting, and when given choice minerals with kelp, I can taste the kelp in their milk—it tastes fishy. I’ve had cow’s milk from many different breeds and farms and it has never tasted fishy.

@Jennifer I too peefer the taste and creaminess of cow's milk. Raw goat's milk does not have that same off-putting taste that heated goat's milk does. When raw I think it tastes fine but would still prefer cow's.

@Sugarnotsnow, not when raw, well, some raw goat’s milk I’ve had has tasted musky but it’s rare, however, I always taste musk when I heat up the raw goat’s milk for hot cocoa, and I drink a lot of hot white chocolate in the winter.

The nutritional comparison between goat milk and cow milk highlights some interesting points! It’s true that goat milk has higher levels of MCTs and can be easier on digestion due to its unique protein structure and lower lactose levels. These properties make it a great choice for many looking for a digestible and nutritious alternative.

At Courtyard Farms, we’ve prioritized maintaining these natural benefits in our goat milk, ensuring that our products not only support your health but also provide a pleasant taste experience. It’s great to see this discussion and the sharing of knowledge here!

Nutrition wise propably yes. But the financial stress of buying goat milk would make it anti metabolic for me. Goat milk is 3 times more expensive than cow milk from what i've seen. 🙁

@Ray-Peat-Fanboy on the flip side I’ve gotten close to buying a milk goat. 200 usd for a non thoroughbred.

How do you keep them disease free? There's 2 things that keep me from keeping goats. I hear they are super susceptible to disease and the cougar population in my area.

@happyhanneke idk if this reply was for me, but when I was a kid our goats were fine. My dad's nanny goat did fine, except that constant mating attempts by the billy goat caused an udder injury that led to mastitis. Check out rotational grazer's experience with sheep -- it's led to drastic reductions in infections and parasites. But yes, due to them eating strait to the root, they are more likely to get parasites and bacteria -- rotational grazing mitigates this by keeping them in clean pasture away from their poop
