Aspirin use besides orally
-
have you tried dissolving in baking soda and hot water
and also taking some vitamin C and collagen peptides throughout the day at other times
-
@sneedful @Brunus
Yes I’m one of those super sensitive to a lot of supps types. Celiac and stomach ulcer history. I can’t tolerate collagen peptides but fine and helped by home made ox tail gelatin broth.Gut super sensitive is probably from still high levels of cortisol and persistent helico. Improving but job stress doesn’t help. Famotidine helps.
Orange juice also irritates my gut.
I can semi handle one aspirin if I take it with bicarb and broth (and yep fully dissolved) for one day but still notice my gut is irritated slightly and could not do a second day .
Hence looking for other ways to get the benefits of aspirin!

Goodys aspirin is a powder you dissolve in water. I think it also has acetaminophen and caffeine though.
Bufferin contains calcium carbonate and a few antacids intended to ease stomach pain.
I've taken Bufferin a bit, but it seems weaker. I prefer the cheap off-brand aspirin that has additives Peaters hate, though I think it's insignificant. BC aspirin also contains some caffeine and a few additives but is dissolvable.I was always worried about getting stomach pain but I've so far had zero issues taking aspirin. It's definitely been a life saver even before finding Peat. I don't think you want to get too creative with application... of course, you could always find a willow tree and chew on the bark.

@LucyJ aspirin can makentbe gut kore resilient after developing tolerance, maybe you could taper up slowly with the powder

@LucyJ You might wish to experiment with Mineral Salicylate compounds. One OTS is Doan's pills / magnesium salicylate, another is Copper Salicylate if you can find it or make it.
In addition, you may find the use of phosphatidyl choline to be protective per this study:
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3572323/
"With this information in hand, we reasoned that this ability of aspirin and other NSAIDs to topically injure the mucosa may be prevented if the drug was chemically pre-associated with synthetic or organic (soybean) PC. Accordingly, preclinical studies on experimental animals50-55 and clinical studies11,12 have demonstrated a remarkable reduction in the ability of a number of NSAIDs to induce GI ulceration and bleeding when the NSAIDs were chemically associated with PC before intragastric administration."

@sneedful I keep reading this and perhaps I’ve gone too fast but the anxiety I get (physiological ) when my upper gi is irritated has made this hard. Perhaps I should try baby aspirin once a week and see how that goes, thank you
-
@Corngold thanks for this info. I just had a look, seems hard to get bufferin where I am and a few nasty ingredient but figure I could make my own version with quick eze and small dose aspirin and see if that helps
-
@LucyJ thats fair enough, maybe it isnt for you at this time. what i can say is that i dont think ive ever noticed doses of up to 1.2g at a time dissolved in baking soda and hot water give me gut problems. i tapered up from much smaller doses. there is a paper showing aspirin tolerance changes composition of amino acids in gut mucus

@LucyJ Ray wrote about putting it your bath water. I’ve soaked my feet in aspirin water. I would think the high er concentration would allow more to be absorbed.
-
have you combined it with K2?
-
@jens I have taken em together or back to back topically and orally but not as a soak. The K would be wasted in water coz it needs to be in oil or pure alcohol to be absorbed.

I had a terrible colitis flare up from aspirin. Then someone advised me to buy the powdered form and put it into a smoothie. That's what I do now, and I have no more symptoms.

Haidut makes a topic spray that has aspirin in it and caffeine and maybe niacinamide I believe. Ok I looked it up. Idealabs
Called Solban.
Niacinamide / Nicotinamide - 40 mg
Caffeine - 10 mg
Salicylic acid - 10 mg
Succinic acid - 10 mgIt’s in like a mist spray bottle.
