Bryan Johnson cooling himself for longevity? Waking temp of 93.4. Seems like a bad idea
-
His goal is different , he is aiming at longevity . I guess he wants to bring himself to a reptile like temperature/metabolism so he can live to 200 or 300 yo and then even longer and passively (low stress) observe how humanity develops. He can afford low stress life.

@Gardner how is lowering his metabolic rate going to help with longevity? What happens when he gets sick or injured?
-
who? never heard of him

It'll be interesting to compare how this dude looked compared to someone like SolBrah, when SolBrah reaches the same age.
Bryan Johnson doesn't look like he de-aged. He looks like a very unnatural 47 year old. There are 50-55+ year olds that look younger and more healthy. Chuando Tan for example. Heck, even someone like Hideo Kojima, well into his 50's he looked like he was 30 years old, and still looks better than most 35 year olds.

He would be already sick and injured because he's been pursuing this quite a while. He probably knows more than what we think of him. He definitely won't share all his secrets. There will be more peope like him and they don't want everyone to live to 300 yo. He may even fake his death at some point so everybody says...see , even Bryan couldn't make it.
Low metabolic creatures live long ...whales (2 to 37 heart beats per minute (bpm)), crocodiles (24–40 bpm) , turtles (25 bpm) . They are very resistant to cancer and at the same time high persentage of highly unsaturated fatty acids (HUFA) in tissue .

Interesting follow up, posted an exhaustive list of biomarkers and physical tests.
A lot of these seem really good tbh.

the world unfolds for a person based on their expectations and beliefs . the only problem I see with what he is doing is he advertised it so much that it has created a lot of excess potential, i.e. here we are discussing it , and people can say that he is doing it wrong, but then again maybe he is the personality who thrives off opposition and being in the spotlight. it is a dangerous game but having a ton of money insulates against some of it. I bet you someone with a high metabolic rate can also achieve the same things as him with a lowered one because they both have their world view.
I took 2.5mg melatonin and had one of the best sleeps I've ever had since I started peating, something I'd only randomly get and inconsistently. but melatonin is.... le bad!!!!! different strokes for different folks people

I am wondering if his low body temperature is contributing to his blue finger nails as shown in the photo below (source = https://healthyceleb.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/Bryan-Johnson-as-seen-in-an-Instagram-Post-in-September-2022.jpg ).
I initially thought it was just his preferred nail polish colour. but then I read this: https://www.slashdotblog.com/blue-nails/

I think you're right about this sneedster. But what good is an energy surplus if the person running it doesn't set their 'world view' in motion.

How is he not feeling awful at such low temps? I get that he’s on Levothyroxine and other drugs, but I’d still expect him to not feel great.
-
@GreekDemiGod did you ever see his videos where he shows how he lives? He is vegan, living largely on powders, takes roids, does finasteride and more, fasting and extreme exercise. He must feel like absolute shit 24/7.
-
@natureman there’s no temporary high like feeling like you’re in control of life

-
@Kvirion wow, I wonder if bone repair is even possible with such a low temp

bone repair
By my understanding low temp makes it much harder:
"A high level of respiratory energy production that characterizes young life is needed for tissue renewal."

+
"Thyroid and progesterone, unlike estrogen, stimulate bone-building, and are associated with a decreased risk of cancer. It seems sensible to use thyroid and progesterone for their general anti-degenerative effects, protecting the bones, joints, brain, immune system, heart, blood vessels, breasts, etc."

@Kvirion thanks for the share

Low temps makes my bones harder you say?
LOL! Good one! You know what I meant
Sometimes grammar isn't my friend...

@Kvirion no the joke being people will hear what they want to hear. you were clear
