    @Corngold

I'm just assuming I'm not talking to a computer / AI, but yes, you're right. Dead internet is apparent. This new great admin I think is pulling some wool over the algos' eyes.

This is a pretty nice forum from what I’ve seen. Couple a goof balls here and there that could probably use a few hours more sunlight a day truth be told. 🌞

On fruit trees - have you seen The Wicker Man? An island in Scotland founded by a radical scientist who revives paganism and - hint - fruit trees. Sounds eerily reminiscent of the Soviet citrus program in Georgia. When the crop inevitably fails their folk ideology requires human sacrifice. All these off-grid ideas seemingly lead to variations of The Lottery / Girard-ian Scapegoating / Wicker Man / Lord of the Flies situations. One of the most disturbing things about the movie is that both systems are at peace: the pagan village has a worthy sacrifice, and the truly devout Christian becomes a martyr.

Sounds juicy! I will check it out! Thanks!
Fruit trees planted in my yard include two cherry trees one red delicious apple an edible crab apple two plum trees, some paw paw trees, goji berries goose berries strawberry ground covers and lots of native wildflowers!
    Peace!

I still listen to most old GE podcast all the time

                Yeah, me too.

I hope Haidut will be a more frequent guest on the Strong SItas podcast.

Yep, I would also like such kind of native/indigenous animism (like Aboriginals in Australia) to become a thing again...

                BTW
Danny and Haidut's beef ended a year ago with a declaration of peace, but it seems that some bad blood stayed...

I think this forum has fairly good activity considering it's only been open for what, a year? It doesn't have the name Ray Peat on it, which is why the other forum was able to grow so so much over a lot more years. People just need to spread the word. I wouldn't have found this if I hadn't seen someone tweet about it. I do think platforms like X have kinda taken a lot of the people who would have come here. They have communities you can join on X now, and Ray Peat is one community I joined. It's like being on a forum.

Been away from the forum for a while, came back to see what’s happening. I haven’t been on the forum because it is really bad for my mental health. My social life and life in general takes a backseat to health.

Health is like a wild goose chase sometimes and because of that it in my opinion it can actually be healthier to take a look at your life and its direction than fix a problem that needs not be fixed. I think a lot of people delude themselves into a lack of Health and vitality (although not all).

Pursuing avenues that you want to explore in a creative way is much more healthy than “trying” to fix a problem related to your health sometimes and I think activated learned helplessness especially when trying solutions that don’t seem to work.

Taking the avenue that nothing needs to be fixed within your body is the first step and Ray spoke of this when taking about cancer treatment and how doctors feel the need to hack away at the body to remove the cancer.

Recently I’ve been thinking of Danny and Ray talk about people who have a purpose and direction in life through meaningful work. Danny points out that Ray (and himself I’m assuming) always seem to note that these people have the most vitality, look the youngest and have that youthful energy. I myself have noticed this.

Ray also said that when people tend to forget (or stop obsessing) about health they tend to be a lot healthier at that point.

The stress of obsessing over health (I emphasise the obsessing part) is probably worse than living life eating similarly to others who are not.

Another point is the point of the conscious mind. Ray said that he likes to take days (it might have been a week) where he doesn’t like to do much speaking or reading or writing, only focussing on the visual and I think this is related to activating the conscious mind. When you’re constantly being bombarded by language and information on forums your concious mind is also being activated, leaving little room for the subconscious to do the processing, I’ve noticed that some days I might take a break from talking or listening to music so much and all of a sudden I’m more fluent in both instruments and language. (This may be related to serotonin systems)

Brute de force speaks of the subconscious a lot if you know of him.

I wear glasses, I’ve noticed when taking them off and focusing on what I see for extended periods of time my vision gets better, slowly but surely. I’m more direct in my speech, I want to progress my life.

This is all to say that these forums may be a place meant for infrequent use and not to be checked daily. If you are serious about cultivating knowledge you’ll abandon the wild goose chase and allow the subconscious to do its processing, let the conscious mind rest while you recharge for the next conquest.

And this may be a step in the right direction showing that people are living and not ruminating.

Thanks for reading my monologue, as I say I don’t check the forum much anymore but be sure to leave your thoughts if you think I’m talking absolute rubbish or not I’d love to hear it.

I agree with you, here. If it ain't broke don't fix it. I think fixing the problem may create a biofeedback loop where one gets used to always fixing a problem, which seems like what you're saying about a wild goose chase.

But, at some level I think starting at some of these minor things may help us unlearn unhelpful habits and learn or re-learn good habits. The paradox may be paying less attention to health in order to truly be well: fair enough.

I think most people get into Peat to solve certain health issues. For me it is mostly low energy, depression, muscle pain/lethargy. I had slow or bad digestion, no concern or understanding for pufa/fast food, reliance on tobacco and alcohol.

The bioenergetic sphere remains relevant because it encourages experimentation and deeper understanding. I don't dogmatically avoid salads, but, when I realized every time I eat salad I get stomach pain and bad digestion, and understood some of the raw veggies/greens consumption through the Peat lenses, I could constructively drop the salad idea without a sense of guilt about not eating "healthy."

Of course, most people encouraging healthier physique and digestion promote spinach, kale, blah blah. It helps to hear alternative opinions and test them out. And of course it turns out that "alternative" often something almost like 1950s standard home-cooked meals, not to be cliche and cringe. A lot of people were healthier in general back then and it obviously was not due only to food. I think we're all totally misled about "good" and "bad" food, good and bad health indicators, etc., and generally this moral confusion in most aspects of modern life.

Maybe some people are better off not thinking about their food intake and habits. But I think we both know examples of people who never thought twice about chain-smoking, drinking, drugs, McD's or whatever else, and probably suffered for it. Now, their suffering may not have been what we think; we suffer regardless. If we aren't suffering poor digestion it will be something else: true.

I think the goal is to consolidate or break down the body-mind-spirit suffering to be able to work with it better. Some people drown physical or mental problems with drugs. Some people use food to compensate for drug problems. And, some people turn to exercise, sex or fighting as physical releases to deal with drug, food, and psychological problems. They're all related so I don't think it's fair to say bioenergetic research is "stressful" or obsessive or only about supplements or what some of the figure-heads think. I don't think I've supplemented anything beyond aspirin, which I took before reading Peat, and generally just changing my foods and upping carb intake.

The stress of obsessing over health

I think you make a good point about trying to look at one's life. The catch is that when you're depressed, probably hypothyroid, probably low in Vit D, eating poorly, having bad work experiences and low pay, etc., all of these things accumulate and suffocate the mind as well as the body. I think it's a slow climb.

be sure to leave your thoughts if you think I’m talking absolute rubbish or not I’d love to hear it.

Like I said, in general, agree with your ideas. I'm still trying to listen through Peat's radio interviews here and there. But yeah, there's definitely a threshold of useful : not useful information. Generative Energy is closer to pure entertainment. I have the view that Peat was closer to a genuine intellectual who happened to be interested in nutrition and biology. He wasn't approaching it as a paycheck or a medical career. This matters somewhat because the medical industry is very "complex" and not "transparent."

As many others have said elsewhere, Peaty eating usually clears up the mind, gives the body more energy. Not an end in itself but a process.

I can already picture Danny and Georgi riding through Venice in a gondola and toasting their renewed friendship with a glass of orange juice while violins play in the background, and a choir of angels sings: “F*** you, Mercola!”

Just saw that Haidut was on a podcast with Danny in October:

I read somewhere - probably on this forum or on X that the podcast was recorded before the beef...

Oh. Then they really took their time.

I've never been a big party attender, but I never went to a party where I didn't probably offend most of the people there by talking about what I was interested in. (Ray Peat)
