@Kilgore Seconding as a deodorant. It's INCREDIBLE. I haven't used toxic deodorants in over 5 years when I realized how bad they were. I had some kind of terrible reaction to them a few times, stopped using them, never used again. Discovered baking soda as a solution to the occasional odor after working out/sweating, but in general I don't get as smelly anymore. I think it's in large part to ceasing putting toxins on my skin in all forms. Lotions, sunscreen, deodorants, etc. That plus showering often enough and you really don't need it.
Another amazing use for baking soda is occasional heartburn. Didn't want to put all the ingredients in those antacids in me, don't know what they do, I assume they're toxic. Aluminum hydroxide doesn't sound good to put in the body. A teaspoon or so of baking soda knocks any heartburn right out.

@Hearthfire I started Baking Soda for deodorant, best for smells, but caused huge boils under my arms. Sad.
-
@User69 You only need a tiny, TINY amount, and you should leave it for a few minutes and then rub/wipe it off.
-
Great as pre-workout, pre-sleep, all sorts of pre-stress cases.
CO2 and sodium I find make my muscles work better.
I have had times when I took too much before sleep and wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I just swallowed sand. -
@PissBoy Some brands are waay finer than others. Arm and Hammer is really nice and fine for example. Better for swallowing with a bit of water, or brushing teeth (less abrasive). I use the non-foodgrade stuff for dishes, since one time i had a bad experience where it tasted a bit soapy (maybe they use the same vats as for soap)
-
@CO3 The extremely cheap stuff I got wholesale tastes like piss and is generally uncomfortable to use. I've tried arm and hammer and it's extremely smooth.
I like dropping a tablespoon in my mouth and swishing a bit of coke with it before swallowing. -
Soothe bug bite irritation by mixing with water until paste-like. Leave for a few minutes then wipe off.
Soothe (sun)burns while protecting skin from microbes by soaking in the tub.
Always good to have an easily accessible, opened box of baking soda nearby anywhere you might have a small grease fire.
-
@PissBoy Funny, I was using it for heartburn, and a few times I took a good amount before a workout and noticed how much better I felt. Energized, less fatigue, felt amazing. Only later learned about how it could enhance performance.
Baking soda truly is a top tier natural substance.

1/2 teaspoon of baking soda before working out will reduce lactic acid and thus help you build muscle.

@Kilgore and @Hearthfire thanks so much! I've tried so many natural deoderants and none of them have worked. Baking soda does indeed work perfectly. I've been using it since the thread started. I often rub a little coconut oil on top just for nice feel.
-
@annis Good to hear, glad its working. I'll have to try the coconut oil.
-
@annis Great! It works for me as well, but there is now an off-color on both my armpits like the skin is darker.
-
@Kilgore Mine are still the same color.
