I'm seeking help with taking aspirin. My gut is extremely sensitive, and I can't seem to find a method of taking aspirin that does not cause my gut to flare up (pain lasting 2 or 3 days).
I buy pure aspirin from HealthNatura and dissolve it (300mg) in hot water with a pinch of baking soda to dissolve it faster. I''ve tried it without the baking soda as well with the same outcome.
I always take it after meals to make sure my stomach is full.

Has anyone experienced similar sensitivities to aspirin and found a solution?

I'm interested in aspirin to see if it can improve my libido and depression and get my temps up.

      Thanks!

It's never bothered me but I felt a little warm and fast heartbeat when taking over 1g. I think powder or tablet with baking soda in water with a meal is probably the best idea. Some brands like Bufferin add in calcium carbonate to help with sensitivity so I would try that (or use eggshells).

Maybe consider buying generic aspirin and not pure powder. The pure is probably too strong and I think any additives in tablet form is a negligible amount. As for health effects it increases blood flow and reduces headaches and pain so it should have you feeling good and healthy which is the opposite of depression and low libido. But again, even low dose aspirin is like 80 mg which is 1/4 of what you're taking so maybe try lower amounts and become attuned to it.

I used to have the same issue. Now I put it in my morning smoothie. I now use Aniprin. I do still have bleeding gum issues even though I take a good vit K supplement.

@Chud are you saying don’t swallow it? That would prevent the gut flare-up.

                Hi,
                Aspirine is pro-metabolic but ...
I'd rather look at what can lmpact brain / mood (B1 B6) and energy (thyroid).
Do yo eat fish or seafruit? Are you vegan?

@LucH Not vegan. I eat pretty peaty, but I probably need to start restricting my red meat intake (tryptophan, methionine, etc.). I eat liver once a week, I just started taking B1 and just ordered some B6. I also just started taking cynomel, which so far hasn't made a difference in my temps. It just makes me super hungry in the middle of the night lol.

I would try taking it with some glycine. Link to a post from the old forum from Haidut.

The post recommends 2:1 aspirin to glycine ratio. So if you take 1g of aspirin you should take 500 mg of glycine. Tbh, I just take a a few grams of glycine with 650 mg of aspirin whenever I do take it.

Also feel free to drop things that aren't working for you. No advice can replace your experience.

What's your current diet and temps like?

I re-put my question. I suppose the answer is "no".
Do you live near the seaside (50 km)? If the answer is "no" ...
Do you eliminate the halogen sources which could interfere with your thyroid: Br, Fl and Cl? The thyroid is the carburetor of metabolism.
Please, don't tell me your thyroid is OK because TSH is fine when you get 3 problems of the next list:

                      • temp
                      • mood
                      • energy
                      • etc.
                        I can develop if receptive.

Watch out for adrenal fatigue when there is frequent secretion of cortisol (stress).
Glycine and L-theanine could help. But we need a mix with walk, breath, and a relax technique (sophrology or EFT).

When taking 100 mg thiamine (B1) each day, B2 is going to miss.
                        Interaction between B1 B2 B3 B8. Not necessary every day for B2. So, I'd take a B-50 complex (co-enzymed) 2x/wk.
Which kind of B6 ad how much? B6 PLP is the active form.

@LucH I eat oysters and shrimp multiple times a week. Not sure what sea fruit is. I don’t really eat fish outside of that.

My thyroid is definitely not great; temps, energy, and mood are all pretty low. Hence the cynomel and hence the peating in general.

I do not live near the sea. I filter my shower and drinking water with top-tier products but mostly drink mountain valley spring water bottled in glass

Liver once a week is a good choice, especially for retinol (Vit A); not only. If your source is organic beef liver, it's fine. otherwise i'd rather eat chicken livers (young animals; 3 months delay => less environment toxins).
By the way, it makes me think that mercury blocks any possibility of recup (teeth if you're older than 50). Enzyme pathway inefficient.
There is no biotine in beef and chicken liver.

                                Interesting elements in liver:
                                Foie de poulet (chicken liver): Pour 100 gr (+/ 3 x 1 foie) : K/cal. 167 – L6.5/2.1 P24.5 G0.9 (1)
                                ** Thiamine (B1), Zinc, Cuivre and Manganèse (bonnes sources);
*** Protéine, Vitamine A, Vitamine C, Riboflavine (B2), Niacine (B3), Vitamine B6, Folate (B9), Vitamine B12, Acide Pantothénique (B5), Fer, Phosphore, Sélenium et choline (très bonnes sources).
                                Score Acides Aminés: 145 (excellent)
                                Acides gras: AGS / SFA 2.1 AGMI / MUFA 1.4, AGPI / PUFA 2. Omega-6: 749 mg. Cholestérol: 563 mg.
NB: I have a PDF file with the compo of both livers, if interested fir details.

Comment: Once a week could be sufficient if there is no problem in metabolism.
For sure, no more than 1x/wk if the energy level is weak. Awakening must be progressive.

I would pamper the adrenal glands in your case, first of all (cortisol).

OK, fine. You don't lack iodine. Great.
However in USA people are surrounded by bromine (bread, salt, delayed fire carpets and curtains). If so, brome takes the place of iodine on your thyroid.
For other readers: Bringing T3 and / or T4, without iodine from I2 and IK, won't resolve metabolism problems, especially for women (breast).

@Corngold Thanks so much! I'll try that! I actually have some calcium chloride (liquid) on the way, so maybe that can provide the same buffering effect.

yes and as LucH said, maybe don't use aspirin for depression. It's good for pain relief, blood flow, and so many other things. alt text

Aspirin dosage guide...lower doses from 100-300mg can be enough to help metabolism while high dosages into several grams Peat talked about helping with cancer or big issues. I will also just mention that 600mg-1.5g is effective helping bad digestion from pufa and other pufa side effects after holiday meals or when I occasionally eat something like Chinese or fried stuff, not to mention hangovers from rare occasions when I drink.

It took me years to find a way that I could take aspirin and my gut tolerate it.
The only way for me is to mix it into mash potato.

I use the mash as a vessel for aspirin and lots of salt. It makes me feel great and doesn't upset my stomach. Adding some fat- coconutoil or cream to the potato mash also lessens the bacterial proliferation from the starch.

I do wonder if the Aspirin gets soaked up in the starch and taken further down the gut than usual digestion of aspirin dissolved in water.

I also put large doses of vitamin k and coconut oil onto my skin to avoid deffiency.

+1 on the 2:1 aspirin to glycine ratio.

Also, When vit K isn't helping, you likely are way under consuming the K.

Also, I found more than a pinch of baking soda can be necessary for the aspirin. If you use enough baking soda it can actually taste good!
