I've had acne for the past 3 years. Each time I've gone on a course of lymecycline, it has gone away but upon completion of the course, it slowly returns. I am now getting a prescription for doxycycline, to try and eliminate this once and for all. I plan on eating bamboo, mushrooms and carrots everyday, alongside vinegar and occasional charcoal, in the hopes of nuking whatever pernicious and malicious microbes are stubbornly residing in my gut. Is there anything I could do in addition, to enhance the gut genocide? I am sick and tired of acne and it's almost certainly my gut which is responsible.

What probiotics are safe to take after I complete the antibiotics, to fill the vacuum left, and prevent any other problematic things from proliferating?

@Nabokov I generally like to have a bit of kefir every day to culture my gut. The "mother" in apple cider vinegar is also a relatively benign culture. Lactobacillus and acetobacter I believe are the primary benign bacteria you should culture. Lactobacillus is gram negative and acetobacter oxidizes lactic acid and turns it into pro-metabolic CO2 and water. Acetobacter has the added benefit of being able to metabolize and excrete glyphosate.

@brad very interesting to know about acetobacter action on glyphosate, but I thought lactobacillus was considered harmful/net-negative by Peat because of the lactic acid produced? Maybe sufficient acetobacter could negate this.. I'm only thinking back to him being quoted on rpf so I could be wrong but apparently he preferred s. boulardii? However I have no info regarding this claim

@Nabokov That is definitely the downside of lactobacillus. I like it because it doesn't produce endotoxin and cultures relatively well. In my experience it helps me digest dairy better. I don't know about S. boulardii.

@Nabokov look into pantothenic acid (b5). It pretty much cured mine. If i remember correctly i was taking 1g twice daily.

A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study of a Novel Pantothenic Acid-Based Dietary Supplement in Subjects with Mild to Moderate Facial Acne
“ The dosage of the study agent or the placebo administered was two tablets taken orally, twice a day with food for 12 weeks. Each four-tablet dose of the study agent contained 2.2 g of pantothenic acid. ”

You have to be careful when introducing probiotics all at once because if you have gut problems then you almost certainly have some form of "gut damage"/leaky gut that needs to be regenerated as well. So adding little by little is good and watch for any symptoms.

When I was having these problems, I greatly increased my consumption of collagen/gelatin/glycine along with a little more vitamin C, as it's important for regenerating the gut lining.
