RE: Are zyns Peaty?
@eric said in Are zyns Peaty?:
Georgi went into nicotine in detail in an old GE episode. The summary was that nicotine is a mixed bag and is ultimately not peaty. I'll try to find it.
couldn't find it. I do remember he said something about how if cigs weren't carcinogenic they'd be better for you than pure nicotine because of the other compounds in there (MAOIs maybe?). Personally I use Swedish snus.

RE: Most bioenergetic country to move to
I don't think the Russian climate is ideal but they certainly have a much better medical system and very interesting OTC medications. Also better food.

RE: Waking up at 3AM
@Fructose great, thank you. I've been feeling better every day since I started taking eating seriously, like I said this is the only negative change I've noticed. I'm thinking maybe my metabolism has rapidly sped up and my liver is lagging behind, so I'm just burning through all my glycogen really quickly at night.

RE: Waking up at 3AM
@Donovan @Fructose will try these
summarizing:
- eat more regularly throughout day
- stay hydrated
- don't eat too much protein close to bed
- keep salt intake high
- OJ and cheese with salt before bed instead of ice cream, or start salting ice cream
- or milk with honey before bed

RE: Waking up at 3AM
@skylark I may not be eating enough total. I'm trying to eat more consistently throughout the day but I'm likely failing at this on maybe half of the days of the week. I'll make this adjustment, thank you.
The excessive protein before bed could be a cause as well, I'm usually eating half a pound of ground beef around 8pm.
@GuantanamO-Shea @Donovan I get quite a lot of salt during the day, but I'll try making sure I get some right before bed.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll try all of these and report back.

Waking up at 3AM
I started taking peating seriously about a month ago. The sole negative symptom I have is that I've begun waking up at 3AM feeling relatively relatively energized in a somewhat uncomfortable way (cortisol perhaps?). I also typically feel pretty hot. Could I be running out of glycogen? I've tried eating a lot of ice cream before bed but it's had no effect. Could I just have poor glycogen storage capacity in my liver? Any ideas? I go to sleep around 11.

RE: Mark Sloan, CowsEatGrass, Ray Peat
@brad can you be a bit more specific on what to be careful about with regard to PBM?
