    @TopicalsOnBalls

    I eat a bunch of starch.

    Brown rice and bread are my staples. Always paired with some animal fat and protein.

    I find that no-starch ruins my hormones, and I lose the depth of power in my voice.

    I notice that people who restrict starch tend to have weak voices. Peat, Shawn Baker, Paul Saladino are notable examples.

    You can eat all the meat in the world and have nice big muscles to show for it, but when a man opens his mouth and speaks, I’ll know exactly how masculine he is.

    I believe Peat was able to get away with no starch because he didn’t have to do any physical work in the world. He could just sit around and drink milk and coffee and let his brain fire at hyper speed diving into metabolic science.

    Humans evolved though having to traverse the physical realm, hunting and digging for food. This level of energy output requires very functional muscles in tandem with in tack cognitive functioning. Caloric density on top of high quality nourishment drove our evolution.

            @oldchem I think the fruit heavy recommendation only really works in warmer climates. You do get fruit in colder countries of course, but the ones you do get are unripe and fibrous, doing more harm than good. More meat and more starch is the natural conclusion to that difference in food availability.

              I still sporadically (1-2 times a month) eat nuts. I sometimes get a craving for a particular kind (like Brazilian or pistachio); I believe there must be some nutrients in them I'm benefiting from despite the PUFA content.

                  once every couple years I get an unbelievable urge to smash a few lbs of pistachio. Pistachio is high in copper, brazil nuts selenium & manganese.

                      Why do I eat starch?

                      Because my body needs carbohydrates, and I find that getting it all from fruit does not nourish me in the same capacity as eating starch in addition with fruit.

                      I may be erroring though in choosing bread and brown rice. Potatoes and other tubers may be the best way to go.

                              @Runenight201 But yeah, starch is good stuff sometimes, I love taters and I can eat them without heartburn if fried or boiled for a very long time.

                                @User69

                                Ive been at this bioenergétics game for a couple years now and I definitely am beginning to form conclusions that my problem has been an inability to efficiently extract energy from starch.

                                When digestion and metabolism is sluggish all the food I would eat was degenerating me as my body wasnt extracting the energy properly.

                                Getting out of this state is very difficult, but in my opinion it involves engaging the body properly (mechanotransduction) so that the body demands glucose and any starch that is consumed gets put right into the furnace and turns to energy.

                                      chorizo. specifically this extraordinary one i get that's made in Belgium of all places, made from %50 Duroc pork.

                                      unbelievably good. tastes a lot more saturated than most chorizos. it's tastier when I don't refry it in coconut oil, so that's pretty non-peaty.

                                          Has anybody done or doing cold water plunges or showers? I'm asking here on non-Peaty thread, because I believe he actually spoke negatively about cold thermogenesis somewhere.

                                          I realize it can raise adrenaline and probably not good for people with sluggish thyroids. But I've also read extensive literature about the anti-inflammatory effects.

                                          I tried it a couple times when I was doing the low-carb thing many many years ago. I was already cold then, so doing cold plunges on top of that was probably just about one of the worst things I could do lmao. But I'm thinking about trying it again.
