How to gain 5kg/11lbs in one month in a peaty way as an ectomorph?
-
Looking for a foolproof and peaty diet to gain a minimum of 5kg/11lbs in one month as an ectomorph. No problem if it's all fat, I need to greatly increase my bf % anyways. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

@Peater0921 2 pints of Haagen Dazs a day will do that.
-
@Kilgore unfortunately I can't afford 2 pints of haagen dazs daily, but also I wouldn't be able to eat 2 pints a day cause I'm not that big of a fan of their ice cream (at least the limited flavors I have available in my area)
-
@Kilgore ironically the more icecream I eat the leaner I get. Not that I’m loosing weight weekly like it’s a weight loss plan on its own… but when Kroger stopped carrying turkeyhill I stopped eating icecream to the tune of like 3 pints, and then I gained 5 lbs lol. When I reintroduced icecream I dropped it.

To gain weight, eat more balanced meals with increased palatability — you’ll be surprised at how much you can eat when you really enjoy something.
Think meat and potatoes dishes with dairy.
-
No drinking water, all liquids should be full fat raw milk or orange juice, do that on top of a regular diet and you’ll be packing on pounds like crazy.
-
whole milk + dates will do that to you fast

I was always very thin no matter how much I ate. It wasn’t until I incorporated weight training that I gained anything that would stay on.
I went from 163 lb to 210, still lean, over the course of about 2 years on the SAD diet. I haven’t trained going on 8 years now and eat what you would expect from someone who posts here, and I’m still at 190 and lean.So my suggestion would be to use moderate resistance training while eating a high calorie diet that fits both your needs, as well as the parameters of a “peaty diet” (I dislike using that term since RP said himself that there is no such thing.)
It’s not going to be 11 lb/month (I don’t think that goal is realistic as an endomorph to be honest) but there’s a good chance that what weight is put on will stick around long term. -
@RawGoatMilk88 that’ll only work when you’re hypothyroid.
-
High carb, high protein, moderate fat. And weight lifting.

In roughly 3 months, and without any strength training due to my spine collapsing and having to relearn how to walk, I went from 30 kg (67 lb) and unable to gain weight to 43 kg (95 lb) of predominantly muscle with an ancestral diet of mostly Peaty foods. The majority of my calories came from full-fat dairy (4 L of raw cow’s milk and/or goat yogurt and upwards of half a kilo of raw cheese) and the rest was mainly eggs, homemade bone broth, meat (scallops, crab and ground beef), fruit (red peppers, tomatoes, avocados and coconuts), tender baby greens and raw honey.
-
No it will work for literally anyone lol. You can easily add thousands of calories to your day that way.
-
@RawGoatMilk88 It will add calories, yes.
Maybe OP needs to clarify if he's trying to describe pathologically underweight, or just wants to put on muscle.
Ray was under-weight no matter how much he was consuming -- it took thyroid supplementation to lower the adrenaline in the liver to slow down uncoupling and energy wasting.

@yeyo12 @RawGoatMilk88 the thing is, i've been drinking raw milk regularly for a while now, it's keeping me as lean as always, but i remember Peat saying that whole milk will fatten up in general, I'm starting to think I'm diabetic or something but my blood tests always check out fine...

@LetTheRedeemed This is definitely true, focusing my meals on things I actually enjoy and that are also calorically & nutrient-dense has been a big help
-
@LetTheRedeemed I heard about that too, so I started supplementing thyroid, but it didn't do anything either. But to be fair, it wasn't accurately dosed thyroid but NDT, so who knows if it would have been different

It’s wild, I can consume a gelatin rich tasty meal around both lunch time and dinner, but if I don’t have time to cook and just take gelatin in OJ, it doesn’t give me the same sleep benefits.
Ray talked about the importance of making tasty food for the improved digestive enzymes — and its impact on health.Yea, I tried NDT for a while, and its problems are real (I even tried a liquid thyroid from a vendor we all know and love lol — I still use him for other things but no longer the thyroid).
I finally did a consultation with Danny Roddy and using cynoplus/cynomel has made a real difference after a year.
Now, I think healthy people should FREELY include NDT, like was done in traditional diets the world over.

I'm also ectomorph, 24M, and this summer I almost replaced my water consumption by milk and drinking 0,5/1L of raw goat milk (I mix it with strawberry syrup it is delicious) daily, I've gained 2kg easily just adding that. I'm also doing weight lifting 2-3 times a week. I can also advise you to eat 1 spoon of raw honey at the end of each meal to spike your insulin and activate your "weight stock".
Btw, I think Ray Peat was also in the same situation but when he began to take thyroid he could gain weight or not losing weight while eating less. I thought I was in the same situation but I checked my temperature waking up with a mercure thermometer this whole summer and was always at 97,7 degrees Fahrenheit
-
@edouard Thank you for sharing! I will definitely integrate honey or some form of sugars at the end of meals to spike insulin and promote fat storage (not sure how I didn't think about that before lol).
Yes, about Ray's situation, I think it had to do something with holding magnesium in cells and how thyroid is allowing that and otherwise without sufficient thyroid the body becomes inefficient at holding magnesium and requires abnormally high calories just to maintain.
Maybe all I really need is some cynoplus/cynomel...
