Water consumption
-
I believe I read on here people should not be consuming large amounts of water or try to limit it. Did Peat speak on this?
If what I read is true why , you can clearly see the difference in appearance from when consuming more water became much more popular. Compare a college student from the 80s to one now and it is night and day. -
I don't know of he ever spoke on this. If so, probably in an interview. I couldn't find anything in his articles.
Although there is no "Ray Peat Diet", a typical diet inspired by bis work is usually pretty heavy on liquids: milk, orange juice, coffee. Peat himself must have consumed 4-5 liters of liquids without any water. If your diet is heavy on liquid and you drink large amounts of water on top of that, you probably never stop urinating.
Another possible concern is that both tap water and mineral water can have fluoride.
What do you mean with college students now vs. the 80s?

Ray talked about the water a lot... https://bioenergetic.life/?q=water

@Luke I mean the way that they look, 20 year old from the 80s looks like a 35 year old today.

Just listen to your body. If you think too much then you are stressed and the cause can be something else.
-
@b1 Too much water causes increased prolactin secretion. Can be hard to tolerate for a hypothyroid person. Causing frequent urination.

@Serotoninskeptic
When I increased my temps with extra layers I started peeing more and also during the night
I was eliminating unnecessary water
So increasing metabolism can also mean peeing more in the beginning -

@b1 when someone drinks it for the sake of drinking it tips the balance away from salt & adrenaline goes up (i stayed up all night just by drinking water at night with hypothyroidism), also you consume more DNA toxic things from the detergents added, more microplastics,
benefit i know of is fixing dehydration and the coldness (might) stimulate thermogenesis for 30 mins to warm back up - but results on that arent reliable, e.g this found it didnt have an impact on metabolism or thermogenesis https://www.nature.com/articles/nutd201541 and that vasoconstriction preventing body heat loss after drinking water can make up for the temperature change (which fits with it causing higher adrenaline) . idk where the "x glasses a day" comes from. In that article peat said the old test for epilepsy was to give people a big glass of water and it would induce seizures. only need a little for hydration unless sweating buckets or overloading salt
