RE: Question for Charlie at Ray Peat Forum on his insults against Milk and Fructose (Honey)
@CO3 @dan-saintdominic Do either of you have views on the apocrypha like the Gospel of St. Thomas or other texts rejected at the Council of Nicaea?

RE: Welcome!
@Truth Understandable. It's basically a miscellaneous board with threads of questionable quality. I think it's akin to a junkyard where there is some good and some bad depending on how much you like to dig. If you have another proposal for a name let me know.

RE: Welcome!
@CO3 That's a wonderful idea. If anyone is willing to develop a plugin I will install and enable it.

RE: Ray Peat Forum Posts Archived and Searchable
@S-Holmes I'll pass that suggestion along to the creator.

RE: Welcome!
@Not_James_Bond Thanks for joining. Right now, I'm trying to take a light touch moderation policy. No violent threats are permitted and I try to quarantine lower quality threads and posts to "The Junkyard" but beyond that I hope people self-moderate and it becomes more of a cultural more to act with poise and mutual respect. So far, the trend has been positive and that kind of behavior has been reduced. I hope that it continues that way without explicit intervention. I'm open to revisiting this policy based upon what happens in the future and feedback from forum members.

@dan-saintdominic Thanks! I think the end of your answer got cut off but I appreciate it.

RE: Airport Security Radiation Mitigation
@buckminster It's like $80 for 5 years, so it does cost more but not incredibly cost prohibitive if you're someone who flies regularly.

RE: Is schizophrenia a symptom of vitamin A detox?
@normiegene That is what it's saying...maybe not in all cases but in a few. I'm sorry to hear you're feeling discouraged. I believe in you. Bioenergetic.forum believes in you.

RE: Airport Security Radiation Mitigation
@buckminster The vibe in airports is off, but if you must travel I would recommend getting TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry. You only have to go through the metal detector most of the time. If I get randomly screened for the full-body scanner I try to opt for the pat-down.

Ray Peat Forum Posts Archived and Searchable
Someone reached out to me on Twitter about creating a backup for RPF post search in case the forum gets locked down to the public again. He's spun up this website where you can search posts: https://peatarchive.com
It's still quite new and may have issues but it does work. I'm in touch with the creator, feel free to write suggestions or feedback in this thread and I'll send it his way.

@S-Holmes How has the Wolff-Chaikoff effect been debunked?

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@AltarandThrone Someone (not me) bought https://toxicbileforum.com/ and redirected it...

@normiegene Erm....I think you may have misread what I posted.....

RE: Is schizophrenia a symptom of vitamin A detox?
@normiegene
Disruption of retinoid signaling is associated with schizophrenia:
Wołoszynowska-Fraser MU, Kouchmeshky A, McCaffery P. Vitamin A and Retinoic Acid in Cognition and Cognitive Disease. Annu Rev Nutr. 2020 Sep 23;40:247-272. doi: 10.1146/annurev-nutr-122319-034227. PMID: 32966186.
They used genome-wide association studies of the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium to determine that common variants associated with schizophrenia were aggregated with retinoid genes
Reay WR, Atkins JR, Quidé Y, Carr VJ, Green MJ, Cairns MJ. 2018. Polygenic disruption of retinoid signalling in schizophrenia and a severe cognitive deficit subtype. Mol. Psychiatry 25(4):719–31The second part of the retinoid dysregulation hypothesis arises from the neurodevelopmental hypothesis of schizophrenia and the finding that abnormal fetal development results in fragile brain function that, together with disruption to the CNS later in life, leads to schizophrenia (109). In particular, dysregulation of the striatal dopaminergic pathway is common to many of the risk factors linked to schizophrenia (109). RA has a key role in embryonic and postnatal forebrain development (84). Dysregulation in neuronal circuitry and function in the forebrain is associated with cognitive impairment in schizophrenia
Low retinol in pregnant mothers is associated with schizophrenia in their offspring.
Bao Y, Ibram G, Blaner WS, Quesenberry CP, Shen L, McKeague IW, Schaefer CA, Susser ES, Brown AS. Low maternal retinol as a risk factor for schizophrenia in adult offspring. Schizophr Res. 2012 May;137(1-3):159-65. doi: 10.1016/j.schres.2012.02.004. Epub 2012 Feb 29. PMID: 22381190; PMCID: PMC3520602.
Results: For the second trimester, low maternal vitamin A, defined as values in the lowest tertile of the distribution among controls, was associated with a greater than threefold increased risk of [schizophrenia], adjusting for maternal education and age (OR=3.04, 95% CI=1.06, 8.79, p=.039). No association between third trimester maternal vitamin A and SSD was observed.

RE: Question for Charlie at Ray Peat Forum on his insults against Milk and Fructose (Honey)
@dan-saintdominic Thanks for your post, Dan. How would you recommend someone learn about historic Christianity in a less distorted way?

RE: A list of members banned from the Ray Peat Forum
@S-Holmes I'm not planning on moderating on that level, apologies, because then those replies would be orphaned in another thread without context.

RE: A list of members banned from the Ray Peat Forum
@S-Holmes Can you be more specific with your request?
