@Uroš from personal experience, sugar can definitely be harmful to dental health, and in a low metabolic state, it definitely is.

RE: Thyroid Log
2 weeks on T4 + T3. Morning temps at a constant 36.4 - 36.5 C, pulse at 70bpm. Daytime temps go up to 37.0 C.
I currently take:12.5 mcg T4 + 6mcg T3 first thing in the morning 2-3 doses of 4-6 mcg T3 spread through the day. 12.5 mcg T4 + 6mcg T3 first thing in the evening/ at night.
I definitely feel better and less fatigued that before.
Yesterday, I had the urge to do physical activity, I did a sprinting session.
I believe I could benefit from an increase in dose, but I’m wary of doing it, in the past I’ve experienced high rT3 from increasing T4 too much. -

@banquos-ghost Look up what Ray had to say about iodine supplementation. Don't worry about supplementing it. If for some reason you want to, you can use iodized salt, but again, that has thyroid suppressive effects. The idea of using iodine to cure thyroid dysfunction is a woefully archaic thing, from when people in mountainous areas would develop goiters due to never getting any amount in their diet.
Good luck!
What Iodine sources do you have in your diet?
I stopped using iodised salt for years, resumed using it again after reading about its role in thyroid health.
We don’t need much iodine, but iodine deficiency can exist -
RE: What's your body temperature?
@scamp 36.4 in the evening is super low. If it’s a warm season where you live right now, it’s brutally low.

RE: Thyroid Log
Day 4
Wake-up: 36.5 C, 65 bpm
I’m glad I started using thyroid (again). I really needed it, I was miserable without it. Things are slowly getting better, I feel more alive, more able to engage in my day to day activities.
Temp-wise, I reached 37.0 C at some point, but after that the measurements were more erratic.
I know it takes a couple of weeks for T4 to accumulate and stabilise in the tissue. So we’ll see how it goes.
I will talk to my endo about prescribing me thyroid, but most likely she won’t agree, she will say that my TSH of 3.4 is normal. And if she will agree, she will likely prescribe Levothyroxine only, the standard treatment.

@CO3 it’s a Reddit community for people with hypothyroidism.

Perhaps by taking only T4, which has a long half-life, you need to maximize absorption in those cases where the person's absorption is probably already very impaired. Most of the time, after a while, T4 alone makes things worse with rT3.
I don't remember the context but I think Ray was talking about T3+T4 together with food to somehow "mimic the natural release of T3". Too much hormone at once activates mechanisms to return to balance (such as conversion to rT3, excretion, etc...).
I believe absorption is the same in everyone, given the exact same conditions the meds are taken in. So if you want to maximise absorption, you take it on an empty stomach 4 hours before meal. Calcium and Iron especially interfere with absorption.
So if you take it with food, you’re not really getting your intended dose. -

How were you feeling at 90-100? How is your thyroid status?

RE: Thyroid Log
Day 3
wake-up: 36.4 C, 70 BPM.
I've been reading about Iodine deficiency and its role for thyroid health. I realized that I stopped consuming iodized salt about 6 years ago, that's when my health started going downhill.
I will start consuming iodized salt again.
Cronometer says I consume 120 micrograms of Iodine/ day (80% of RDA) -
RE: Thyroid Log
Day 2
Generally, I've felt better, temps fluctuating between 36.4 - 36.8 C.
Still felt lazy to do my job.
Some palpitation episodes here and there.
Reached 37.0 C (98.6) after my workout at the gym. -
RE: Thyroid Log
@banquos-ghost AFAIK, only T4 can be converted into rT3.
I'll see how it goes for 2 week.2nd dose (evening-night). Same effect as the 1st dose.
Not sure if I should call it a crash. It just feels like my cortisol is being massively lowered. Perhaps, revealing my true state of metabolism.3rd dose (morning):
wake-up Temp: 36.4 C
wake-up Pulse: 65 bpmWoke up feeling better than usual, my usual morning headache is reduced. Slightly better energy levels.
That low cortisol, no anxiety feeling persists. I'll take it as a good sign.@TexugoDoMel Interesting. Do all thyroid pills dissolve in water?
@Master I want to avoid taking T3 by itself. -
RE: Thyroid Log
1st dose (mid-day): 12.5 mcg T4 + 12.5 mcg T3. Increase in temp for 1-2 hours, followed by a crash in the following hours.

Thyroid Log
So I started using exogenous thyroid again. Some of you may know my history from RPF. Basically, the reason I decided to try thyroid again is the following.
- I continue to struggle with low energy levels, low vitality. My most recent TSH result was 3.4 uUI/ml. It usually hovers between 2.5 and 3.5. When my sleep, rest and nutrition are on point , it drops below 2.
I want to get my TSH dow to 1 or even lower. - Latest blood tests show high LDL, indicating poor conversion into steroid hormones. This is a sign that I could benefit from thyroid.
- I have low Test, hopefully getting the thyroid dose right will raise my vitality, and also my steroid hormones.
- I have low SHBG levels 16nmol/L. I read that thyroid can raise it.
4th April 2024
Starting dose: 25 mcg T4 + 25mcg T3 daily split into 2 doses.
So 2 x 12.5 mcg T4 + 2 x 12.5 mcg T3.Current Temperature:
- morning temp: 36.1 to 36.4 C (96.9 to 97.5 F)
- daytime temp: 36.5 - 36.8 C
Pulse is in the 60s, so quite low.
I'd like to improve TSH, raise temps and pulse in the ideal range. - I continue to struggle with low energy levels, low vitality. My most recent TSH result was 3.4 uUI/ml. It usually hovers between 2.5 and 3.5. When my sleep, rest and nutrition are on point , it drops below 2.

RE: Unpleasant experience on thyroid
I may be wrong here, but you're probably taking too small of a dose. You're giving your body exogenous thyroid hormones, natural production downregulates, but you're not giving it nearly enough to take over.
Also, try to stay on a dose for at least 2 weeks, before switching, or increasing. -

RE: Personal Log - Digestion, energy, vitality
@TexugoDoMel During.
I made the mistake of switching my doses way too often.
I should have stayed on a dose for a minimum of 2 weeks, ideally 4-6 weeks.This time, 'm going to try 50mcg T4 + 25/ 50 mcg T3 for a month.

Thyroid on empty stomach or with food?
Ray recommended taking thyroid with food.
However, on r/hypothyroidism, they are stressing the importance of taking it without food, 4 hours before first meal of the day, they're saying that food/ Calcium massively inhibits its absorption and render it ineffective.
Everyone on Reddit is taking Levothyroxine (T4) in the morning, 2-4 hours before eating, for maximum absorption. When I was taking up to 75 mcg of T4 first thing in the morning, I felt severely hypothyroid.

RE: Best Idealabs combo/ stack to raise androgens?
@cremes That is applicable to topical DHEA, I believe. I'm taking oral DHEA 15mg, not sure how it would translate in oral dose.

RE: Personal Log - Digestion, energy, vitality
Latest blood test came out bad.
- High LDL (154 mg/dL)
- Low DHEA-S
- High-ish Prolactin (336 uUI/mL)
- Low Test 300 ng/dL
- High TSH 3.4 uUI/mL
I only slept 5 hours that night before the blood test, so that might have had an influence. But it's still bad.
Thinking of trying exogenous thyroid again, but on all the combinations I've tried in the past I've felt worse on a long-term basis.
