Losing weight as fast as possible
-
It depends. Are you trying to keep the metabolic rate high, and in oxidative phosphorylation, or do you just want to loose the weight?
A five day water fast can drop weight very quickly, but I would not recommend it for health. See what I mean?
A better option might be the rice diet, or potato diet, or methionine restriction, though the results won’t come as quickly, the long term outcome will greatly surpass outright starvation.
Not trying to be cheeky, people have different reasons for dropping weight. It’s important to weigh consequences with benefits.

@evan-hinkle They're desperate to see some change and feel a lot of self hatred because of the extra weight. I suggest slow but I wonder if its better to lose a lot fast just to feel better about their self image
-
@notmcas amputation? it literally fits your criteria PERFECTLY.
...i mean it's a retarded goal to have.
-
@notmcas 500cal deficit + walk 3 hours a day. or 2 on incline.
-
@Kilgore a deficit by definition will lower the metabolism and in the long term likely worsen the condition. Is this another thing you think Ray said?

Read my response for that comment of yours before saying things like this again. https://bioenergetic.forum/post/18822
He asked for losing weight the fastest way possible. So I gave him that. He also said he knows its not healthy.
I personally think the most important part of a healthy diet is consistency. People who get consistent on a diet will see the results. That's why there are so many hardcore advocates for certain diets. They are the ones who stuck with it and now believe its a magic pill. I think a good motivator for consistency is weight checking. She should check her weight at least once a week and write down the results. I think its fun to keep track, see results and be encouraged by them.
Optimize meatbolism, lower fat intake, get your nutrients, get some exercise, stay consistent.

Haidut not too long ago posted about how he lost a lot of weight by eating no fat, just protein and carbs (yet increased total calories eaten), and supplemented vitamin K3.
There's also a lot of studies of people taking thyroid and losing a significant amount of weight quickly. You don't really need to go that far, as long as you increase metabolism you will lose weight.

Just an insane statement. You need to think about what you say before saying that. Lifehack.

What is insane about it. Consistency is key. You cant expect to see results if you slip up all the time.
Should have worded it better tough. Maybe: "Consistency is key to a healthier lifestyle."
-
@Kilgore Consistency is only good if the things being done and consumed are good. Obviously. It's amazing you made me spell it out. I've genuinely had maybe 3 not-horrible interactions on this forum.

Maybe I'm missing something but isn't a deficit necessary to lose body fat?
-
@notmcas How much starch do you eat per day?
-
@Crypt-Keeper how could hypothyroidism be necessary for weight loss? That's ridiculous
i mean it causes weight gain in the short run.... just like amputation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of sarcasm and such. But I think everyone knows that BMR eventually goes down when calorie expenditure outpaces intake. There can be strategies to mitigate that, like calorie cycling or whatever, but at the end of the day there's no other way to lose body fat unless expenditure exceeds intake over a period of time.

Relevant
And this is not about recommending intermittent fasting

Ray consistently stated in interviews inactive people should eat low-fat dairy because the extra calories from whole milk weren't needed. Ray never opposed the idea of people lowering caloric intake to lose weight. He did say hypothyroid women eating a 700 calorie diet or whatever couldn't lose weight based on a trial or study he was referencing. But the connotation he gave seemed to be highlighting the hypothyroidism more so than the caloric deficit.

Cite it then!

@CO3 No, I'm not going through hours of KMUD interviews to find a 20-30 second excerpt. If you're interested in hearing it look through RayPeatClips page. You should know this by now, it was discussed ad nauseam on the RPF for years.

@notmcas Just keep your carbohydrate and protein intake where it normally is, and drop about 200-300 calories from dietary fats. Even though you're in a deficit, the protein and carbs will keep your metabolic rate where it should be. Get vitamin D and eat plenty of calcium. Make sure you salt your food. Very often one can drop a couple hundred calories in a given day by just making a simple switch from whole milk to 1% milk. If you're not a milk drinker then find somewhere else to make that cut. Instead of eating 85% lean hamburger eat 93% lean hamburger. Skim the fat off your broths or soups, eat dry toast instead of buttered toast, etc.
