Peat did not believe in the androgenic man?

@ThinPicking said in Peat did not believe in the androgenic man?:
I said cop out
is it a cop out to recommend progesterone?
how about thyroid?
-
Ha-Ha. You got me. The goblin world order is just me projecting my goblin brain onto reality! Partly true.

More fundmanetal. Further upstream. So no, I don't think so.
But I also haven't taken them, possibly yet. I just understand why he might have considered them holistically therapeutic.

lol not you corngold. Not noticeably anyway. But it's a pathology. I have been and probably will be again, goblin afflicted.

Thyroid is farther downstream than testosterone in the sense that it's the final active form (afik).
He does recommend downstream hormones but avoids suggesting testosterone and imo that reflects his mindset as the poster suggested.

It's entirely possible our views are inverted.
@ThinPicking said in Peat did not believe in the androgenic man?:
What if your condition has a reference range, and what if indication is all around and behind you.
@Dedeluded said in Peat did not believe in the androgenic man?:

The poster asked a question. He's on a journey or something.

t4 converts to t3. That would be downstream no?
Wester130 makes the case that Ray Peat wasn't into manly stuff in his post just below the question.

I'm a little confused. But that's ok.

Apparently he doesn't know what a "man" is.
@Dedeluded said in Peat did not believe in the androgenic man?:
Being cryptic doesn't help anyone in any way.
Welcome to earth. If you know the way we're all ears.

Don't be confused
t3 is downstream of t4
Pregnenolone is not downstream bc it's the first
Testosterone continues converting but is downstream of pregnenolone.
On earth you work with actual information to reach rational conclusions. We should all aspire to get there

I would make the case for therapy. No sarcasm. You asked

Ok but you asked if thyroid and preg are cop outs in comparison to testosterone. I described them further upstream and more fundamental. You're free to differ.

I'll stick with my original answer to OPs question. But thank you for your thoughts on testosterone recommendations and what constitutes manly things.
-
I would make the case for a sense of humour. Definite sarcasm as you didn't ask.

Thyroid hormone is not "upstream" of testosterone. It has it's own stream as either t4 or t3. It doesn't share a stream with testosterone. Testosterone is downstream of some hormones and upstream of others just like progesterone and they share a stream.
I'm nitpicking thinpicking but whatever
-
I'm not talking about synthesis. Only that if you're not cooking ATP then the golden goose isn't much use. There is crosstalk between those systems, but still. If you're metabolically well, eating plenty of sat lipids and the other goods, testosterone ought to be where it needs to be.
-
@ThinPicking But then it's like your saying anything that effects hormones like testosterone is upstream.
So exercise increases hormones and therefore exercise is upstream because it effects a stream.
I know what you meant though. Fine fine
-
This is what people usually mean by upstream or downstream
I'm sorry I wrecked the thread.
-
This is also a stream

arguing on message boards about whether a dead biochemist was androgenic is super manly
