@Sunniva It might be problematic, but I only use milk powder a couple times per week at most. I only concern myself with avoiding the usual suspects (PUFA, fortified iron, phosphates, carrageenan, gums, & citric acid). You do that and you've already eliminated the vast majority of issues that most people don't even know about (except for the PUFA thing which has gained popularity in the past 10 years.)

RE: Assorted news
I've never understood why someone would have "pride" in their sexual identity. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fascist, but I find it weird someone would wrap their entire existence into the people they have sex with. You don't see the vast majority of heterosexuals acting like this.
Pride is something you have in great personal accomplishments, not things inherent to one's identity. I'm no more prideful of my heterosexuality as I am of my green eyes or brown hair, lol.

RPF now gets this page info:Storms Rock The Dallas Texas area and Knocks out RayPeatForum.com Servers
raypeatforum17 on May 30, 2024Early Sunday morning the 26th of May storms rocked the Dallas Texas area and took out the Ray Peat Forum servers. The hosting company declared a force majeure the damage was so extensive. We are in the process now of rebuilding the server and bringing the forum back online. At this time we do not have an ETA but soon as I get more info I will post it here. We have a backup of the forum right before the server went down. We are just waiting for the server to be fully brought back online to upload it. Soon as I have more info I will post here.

Well this is something at least. Whether or not he's telling the truth about why it's down, he's announcing it will return...at some undisclosed point. And there is the fact Dallas was hit pretty hard with some brutal weather recently. So he's probably telling the truth.

@Mulloch94 Well, I just want to take a break from using supplements to be honest. I don't want to depend on them and am curious how I'll feel if I don't use anything at all. I might return to ndt, if I notice some negative effects. Mike Fave did a great job explaining that your body will be better at making thyroid once you're healthier. It might take a little time to get back, but I don't feel like I really need ndt anymore. I've always been healthy, prior to my college years where I gained some weight. I've almost lost all that gained weight and I'm just curious what will happen to be honest. I've been using a lower dose for a few weeks now and have not noticed any negative effects. What I really find strange is that I feel like I'm losing weight faster with the lower dosage, but that could be because I'm not forcing myself to eat when I'm not that hungry anymore. I have found a place where I'm eating whenever I'm hungry and on days with more stress I eat some extra fruit and salt. Point being that I don't know how effective my NDT was in the first place, because it's just a supplement from a company in the Netherlands (where I live), just freeze dried beef thyroid with some beef liver. They said it has thyroid hormones in it, but I don't know if it's the same amount every time. So that could be the reason why I feel like I can try without it.

Yeah freeze dried glandulars are rarely consistent in potency. I have heard some good things about Lowe's Thyro-Gold glandular product, but as long as Tyromix and Cynoplus exist I don't see the need of venturing out into the unknown much.
Did you hear the interview Ray gave about traditional cultures all over thew world eating parts of the animal that include thyroid? Like chicken necks and fish heads. If you consider this into the equation, I'm not even sure you should consider thyroid as a supplement. It's more like a nutritional element. At least in dosages of 1/4-1/2 grain. When you start getting into the 1 grain area and higher it's more like replacement therapy.

RE: Skim Milk Powder Recipes
@Solrig I don't know anything about his presence on Reddit. I went to the r/raypeat section one time simply to ask about any RPF alternatives (it paid off, because they gave me this place). I try and stay off Reddit, it's basically "woke capital" of the internet.
But don't get butthurt simply because someone called you a pussy. It's the most generic lame ass insult anyone can give. And it speaks more about their mental and metabolic health than yours.
I don't think I've had a single pleasurable interaction with that CO3 dude, but it doesn't bother me the slightest. What's that saying..."Don't stop at every barking dog along the way, or you'll never get to your destination." Something like that, I probably butchered it but you get the point, lol.

RE: High salt intake
@Ruben Why cycle off ndt if you've finally got your dosage tuned right? Might be a bitch to get back on once you're depleted again. No joke took me roughly 3 years to master my response to thyroid. Which is why I think people's number one failure with thyroid is simply giving up too quickly.
Part of the reason why sodium is so thermogenic is that it's synergizing with T3, magnesium, and calcium. If you can't retain those minerals once you're off you might lose your heat too.

RE: what are the most dopaminergic things you tried?
@Ecstatic_Hamster said in what are the most dopaminergic things you tried?:
@Verdad it isn’t really non orgasmic, it is waves of orgasms that last an hour or more, twice daily, with my partner. I should have written “non ejaculatory”.
Are you doing some sort of trantric sex or something? I've never had an orgasm where I didn't also ejaculate.
-
RE: what are the most dopaminergic things you tried?
@Verdad I would assume it's due to the pituitary action (primarily prolactin, but also endorphins and oxytocin) that happens during and right-after orgasm. Although I'm not sure why you'd want to avoid this, in healthy people the response is very brief. Low thyroid or low testosterone men might have more difficulty bouncing back.
The evolutionary purpose of sex is suppose to be quick. Because if you're fucking all day then you're not gathering food, water, or defending against possible predators...this is actually counter intuitive to survival and reproduction.
Now I'm not suggesting every dude needs to be a premature ejaculator, lol. But if you have to try really really hard to cum then that might be suggestive of some sort of sexual dysfunction. The only "cheat" a healthy male can do to bypass this is to edge themselves during sex.

RE: High salt intake
Baking soda is a little easier for me to manage. I can dump 1/2 teaspoon of soda in a small glass of water and down it no problem. So I can use that as a supplement of sorts. But normal table salt? That's a rough challenge for me.
-
RE: High salt intake
@Ruben That's nice, if it works for you that easily then don't change it. You know what they say..."don't fix what isn't broken." Unfortunately I can't rely on my craving for salt because my "craving" for salt is very low. And since I also have hypothyroidism that's a dangerous combination. I usually end up forcing extra salt on foods and having to deal with the rough flavor. It's a little easier to manage once you get your thyroid dosage reeled in properly though, at least it is for me.

@VehmicJuryman The Archive works fine for me, you just need to search by username. I don't know who made the archive or how they've set it up. But there's certain hosting companies won't respect copyright because they're in the "copyleft movement." There's several VPS groups out here in protected jurisdictions overseas that will allow you to host whatever you want (provided it's not CSAM or some other dark shit), including copyrighted materials, lol. Doubt Charles can do anything about that, but you can always download the archive just to be safe.

RE: How much Gelatin should you eat everyday?
@female87 I don't think Ray would've recommended it, but you could always try BCAA's as an alternative to gelatin. No arginine in BCAA powders. BCAA has the ability to block tryptophan.

The only times I ever feel horny are when I drink booze or at certain times when I wake up in the middle of the night. In the past I would wake up horny as fuck and i would have to crank one out just to sleep. Now i wake up and I feel horny like the old days, maybe with a boner, but only for a few seconds, then it's gone.
To me this whole process seems like it's driven by the catecholamines. Mostly epinephrine and norepinephrine. Peaters typically have the misfortune of demonizing adrenaline as the "bad guy" in pretty much everything, which is sorta true. But the issue is when it's overproduced due to low thyroid, you become insensitive to it so you produce more and more. I think progesterone & cortisol partially "rescues" the dysfunctional metaboslim from adrenaline's toxic effects, bringing the blood glucose back up, especially when we're younger (People under 20 probably don't even realize they have low thyroid because steroidogenesis is still high). But as we age, even as early as mid 20s, the thyroid is still low and now the cholesterol begins to creep up, less hormones are being made so there's less pregnenolone, progesterone, cortisol, and DHEA. What we desire is high sensitivity to small amounts of epinephrine.

@shivaflow Send my condolences. Quick stress relievers I'd recommend Progest-E on the gums and/or some water with 1/2 tsp teaspoon of baking soda and 2 aspirin dissolved in it.

She has been a customer of the LGS as well as RPF one time subscription membership
And fraudulent charges were only labeled from or through the forum
I have no more information at this time
I never like assuming the worst, but it looks pretty bad.
On the other hand, it could be Paypal's fault. I've never liked PP, when I've been forced to use them on occasion, I always added money to my PP account when needed, instead of letting my card information and PP wallet stay continuously supplied.
It's a hassle, but well worth it, letting my card information be available 24/7 to an entity that's been known to pull shenanigans like this in the past is not worth it. Besides, I try to avoid PP at every opportunity I can anyways. So I don't use it much.
That’s helpful advice
She did confirm with me that it was through the one time charge - through the one time subscription charge- on the Ray Peat Forum
And
PayPal seems to be giving her quite the runaround
As she wants to absolve all her data there
After an HOUR waiting to speak with someone
She suddenly was disconnectedHate this for her
Oh yeah, I've been down that road before. I feel for her. PP's "customer support" is whatever the opposite of support is, lol. At least that was my experience with them. I would give them a message, and they'd wait like 4 hours before replying. Oh, and at like 5PM est they go home for the day. So with the delay time between message, you only have time to say like 2 maybe 3 messages.

So take iron supplements or consume more iron to counteract this?I personally wouldn't. Iron supplements are dangerous, and it can be a potent oxidizer. Almost as bad as PUFA.
Unless you've got cancer, there's never really a reason to take more than 1,000mg a day. Even less in most cases will work. 500mg is enough to lower stress and free fatty acids.

That's troubling to think he's charging people's accounts. Suggestive of him cutting and running with everyone's money. I've known darkweb administrates running drug markets with more ethical principles than this dude.
