It definitely helps . But I switched to using Apple juice because, it has sugar as well and because of the polyphenol content. Actually I dissolved a full capsule of swansons apple polyphenols in a bit of juice and applied it to my scalp . It really made a difference , but it was such a mess to apply that I stopped.

So, I suppose, D-ribose may increase inducible NO (iNOS) by way of triggering NF-kappaB, which is a primary inflammatory response (see, e.g., pubmed here)
Personally, i will avoid supplementing with D-ribose due to a possible NF-kappaB trigger, even not being a diabetic.

@LetTheRedeemed The nitric oxide thing might explain why it works--NO is said to be what makes minoxidil work.

Ray was a proponent of even putting sugar on the scalp, so my thought is that any step closer may provide additional benefits.

Wild idea here, but building on the topical sugar idea, any thoughts on mixing a target sugar with DMSO for topical use? I ask due to DMSO's penetrative boosting capability

@OliverCloasov I thought of that too, but I read that sugar dissolved in water is so easily absorbed by the skin that I just haven't messed with dmso yet. let us know if you try it.
I'm applying multiple times throughout the day across the whole scalp (to promote metabolism where blood flow is still good, thinking that must help), and about once or twice a day, I'm also applying t3, niacinamide, and haiduts oxidal, which contains methyline blue, niacinamide, and aspirin.
I apply a heaping amount of the d-ribose water immediately after applying the other substances, to avoid "starving" the scalp.
