      @Mauritio

      " 3α-DHP has also been found to inhibit the secretion offollicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the rat pituitary gland, demonstrating possible antigonadotropic effects "

      "opioid antagonists, like naltrexone, have progonadotropic effects, and can increase luteinizing hormone and testosterone levels."

      so are gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone bad for you?

      should they be high or low?

        In general, Ray warned against metabolites and downstream hormones.

          @bio3nergetic yeah he wasn't the biggest fan of 5aDHP either. Which is understandable if you see the cancer studies. And Ray was pretty cautious when it comes to supplements in general.

          Dare to think.

            @wester130 well Ray wasn't fond of pituitary hormones so there's that

            And androgens like DHT would also suppress them so I wouldn't say that's necessarily a bad thing.
            Interestingly it only suppresses FSH and not LH.

            Dare to think.

                @Verdad you aren't worried about lowering gonadotropins, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone?

                    @wester130 Is this true? That would mean one's test would tank right?

                        @bio3nergetic might shock you to find this out but Ray took testosterone at the end of his life. He didn't necessarily warn against but rather cautioned people taking downstream hormones.

                          @risingfire No, not a shock. I was aware of the testosterone, but with his use at around a few mg max, with his fairly solid understanding that with something like testosterone, at a low dose, it was not only basically safe but also helpful, he never truly equated the downstream metabolite types to it. For the downstream metabolites, he clearly stated he thought they were unpredictable and not safe to take.

                            @bio3nergetic not sure where you're getting your information but testosterone is a downstream hormone

                              @risingfire There are far more downstream metabolite types from more primary downstream hormones than testosterone. That is what Ray meant, and that's what I am referring to.

                                @bio3nergetic you should have just said metabolites. I think Ray would have experimented with DHT at some point had he still been alive

                                    Only tried it once.
                                    It feels pretty strongly anti-cortisol.
                                    Also the next day my libido was a little higher and my muscles looked pretty full.

                                    Thats all , I'm trying Melanon and lanosterol now so might be some time until I get back to 3aDHP.

                                    Dare to think.

                                      @risingfire ,
                                      Did he really take testosterone ?

                                      Ray, "I told her about progesterone's general protective effects, its antagonism to testosterone, and its prevention of atrophy in various tissues. She decided to ask her doctor to try progesterone for her husband. Later, I learned that her husband had gone into a very rapid decline immediately after the injection, and died within a week; the physician had given him testosterone, since, he said, "testosterone and progesterone are both male hormones." Besides making me more aware of the problems patients have in communicating with physicians, this tended to reinforce my feeling that a hormone imbalance is involved in ALS. Although I haven't written much about testosterone's toxicity, Marian Diamond's work showed that prenatal testosterone is similar to prenatal estrogen, in causing decreased thickness of the cortex of the brain; both of those hormones oppose progesterone's brain-protecting and brain-promoting actions."

                                        @Goodman you need to look into the context. Too much testosterone can convert into estrogen. Plus there's a difference between prenatal vs a grown man in his 80's taking 1mg a day.
