@Peatful
how long vegan? 1 1/2 Years
what was peating for you? Avoiding Pufa, Low Starch, High Calc:Phosphate. Milk, OJ, Eggs, Butter, Cheese, Fruit, Coffee, Red Light etc.
did you track your temps? Yes, they increased from as low as 95 to now averaging over 99 degrees farrenheit
why switch diets? What was the reason for the change? The main issue with veganism at first was the hard digestion. Gas, bloating, etc. Than my health continued to decline with low libido, brittle hair, acne, hypothyroidism. So i knew i had to make the Change.
age? 20
why supplement? How much mcg of thyroid? Are you still supplementing? My pulse and temps were so low that i couldnt raise them with diet alone. I am still supplementing but i plan to get off eventually as an experiment. Currently 72 mcg T4, 36 mcg T3.
lastly: what was your kilocalories being a vegan versus your Kcal with your current diet? Same calories. Around 3500 to 4000
Wanted to share the drastic improvements in many markers of health I experiences switching from a vegan diet to peating. I will include some examples of blood tests that improved below. I was supplementing vitamin D3 and Thyroid as well. The time in between these tests was a little less than one year.
[Vegan]
TSH: 2.96 mU/ml
T3: 1.82 pmol/L
Testosterone: 327 ng/dL
Ferritin: 975 ng/mL
[Peat]
TSH: <0.005 mU/ml
T3: 6.71 pmol/L
Testosterone: 675 ng/dL
Ferritin: 86 ng/mL
This one's really simple and a delicious way to get in some gelatin and balance aminos.
Ingredients:
3 Tbsp Gelatin Powder
1 ¼ Cup Fruit Juice of Choice
Place the juice into a pot on the stove. Put the heat on low and slowly pour in the gelatin powder while stirring often. The powder should dissolve with the juice. Once its dissolved let it cool in the fridge for a couple hours until solid.
A delicious way to enjoy pancakes minus the starch! These always turn out great and you would never be able to tell theres no flour.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup milk powder
1/8 cup of milk
1 egg
Salt to taste
Whisk ingredients in a bowl. Turn on low heat, add butter or coconut oil to a pan.
Pour mixture in the pan. Flip as soon as they start to brown.
Wanted to share my nourishing raw ice cream recipe. It's only 5 ingredients and super easy to make.
Note: You will need some sort of ice cream maker to do this. I use the KitchenAid Ice Cream attatchment
Ingredients:
1 Quart Raw Cream
4 Raw Egg Yolks
1/2 Cup Raw Honey
1/4 Tsp Vanilla
Salt
Whisk the ingredients together. Let the mix cool in the fridge a bit. Prep your freezer bowl. Pour the mix in the bowl and let it churn for about 30 minutes!
@Lothric Im glad that worked out for you! I find that i have much more consistent energy doing it that way too.
@cs3000 The effect on temps was more immediate. I wasn't able to increase my pulse until almost doubling my original dose though.
@GreekDemiGod Well one grain is about 36 mcg t4 and 18 mcg t3. Or 6 drops tyromix.
@Drak3 I take it orally. Also spread throughout the day in 12 seperate drops
@wester130 Yea I saw Danny Roddy's post on that. I do agree that it can be hard to accurately dose but I feel like that's true for any sort of thyroid supplementation. It takes trial and error.
Earlier this year I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and fatty liver. I discovered ray peat and began having Milk, Cheese, OJ, Eggs, Fruits, Gelatin, Coffee etc. while limiting pufa. I was able to reverse my fatty liver and increase thyroid production doing this but i was still hypo. I began supplementing tyromix starting at 1/2 Grain and slowly increasing. Im now taking 2 full Grains and i feel like a new person. Temps around 99 and pulse around 100 bpm. My TSH suppressed below <0.01. Really hot and energetic all the time. Just wanted to let you guys know this is really powerful stuff and works incredibly well.
