RE: Master Broth™
So let's have less schizo posts and more broth posts.
If at least 50% of the members don't post their experiences with this recipe, Brad told me the whole place is going down!

@Kilgore Yeah I mean you can wash them. Check Asian stores online and IRL for oysters in just water. They're fairly common. They also exist frozen. I have no clue why all the Yanks buy smoked oysters in cheap oils and then even recommend it to other people.

I buy fresh oysters. Put them in the microwave so that they open easily. Pull the oyster out of the shell, cook with a little butter and freeze them individually in an ice cube tray.
I then use them in soups.
Can't stand them uncooked.
What the fuck? At least make a gratin or something. I got PTSD from reading this post.

@Lovesickhs18
If you want to try them fresh, I'd say buy fresh ones in the supermarket if you can get them. A lot cheaper than at a restaurant, and shucking them is fairly easy with an oyster knife!
But buying them at a restaurant is nice too, or at a fancy market or something. I don't know about the varieties you have access too, but I think the best ones to try are ones with soft -not metallic or 'sharp'- flavors. Normandic, Zeelandic, and many other varieties have that flavor profile. At a restaurant I would ask which ones are soft in flavor and get like 4, and more if you like it. Also, don't be afraid to chew them! With good ones IMO it's mandatory,
Currently they're too expensive for me, even at the supermarket - I only buy those around new years or when they're expired, since it's easy to spot spoiled ones- so I buy them in a can from the Asian store and have them in a variety of dishes. Either a soup with my broth, fried up with some zucchinis and worcestershire sauce, or with all the above and some sweet potato noodles (except when I'm in a period of avoiding starches).

RE: Skim Milk Powder Recipes
Very bad pics but I decided to try my hand at some burger type thing using some sausage I had left over. The buns were still too soft in the middle. i skewed the powder - egg ratio a bit too much and the heat on this stove didnt go low enough. But the thickness is amazing. It was delicious anyway.

RE: Impact of Clothing on Health
@Kilgore Almost all secondhand stores have lots and lots of cotton options. I bought a silk shirt and a wool long coat for 3 euros the other day. One of the only perks of living in Northern Europe is you have great secondhand stores with beautiful natural clothing

RE: my meals / recipes
My skim milk powder stuff. No starches involved in any of these pics. See my other thread for details:
Another variation of the Apples plus Meat plus Broth pan sauce swag meal I made. Unfortunate color because I only had zucchini broth soup left to use for the sauce:

RE: Skim Milk Powder Recipes
I've been adapting the recipe a bit, and am getting amazing results.
The trick is to use less eggs. To have one egg per half a cup of powder. NO salt because it dries out. Baking soda doesn't, and it helps it to puff up. So only those three ingredients.
A bit burnt but these were very good apart from that. Important to watch out for burning, I cut off all the slightly black parts because the milk powder is not healthy when burnt:
Then you put it in the pan on low-medium heat, with LOTS of butter/coconut oil/ tallow, like lots and lots. then once the under side hardens just a bit, you put a lid on it, and turn the heat down a bit (this is the hardest part, it depends on the stove. For an induction i go from 5 to 3) and then you wait a minute. You flip it, lid back on, another 45 seconds or so. Then heat goes back up and you get a nice crust. This encloses the moisture in the pancake, making it less dry despite having less eggs than the regular recipe.
bad pic. but it simply sort of tastes like a brioche bun:
Today I ate them with Caprice des Dieux (brie type cheese) and some pickles, with some ketchup. Sounds weird, but it tasted like a cheese burger minus the meat. I wil make a burger soon. Absolutely delicious

RE: High salt intake
I try to go as high as possible tbh. It's important. We all drink quite a lot of liquids, so even moreso. Pickles are a good way.

lol these seem interesting. Don't know how they'd hold up in mud and they're a bit like insane to just wear around the city,

RE: Impact of Clothing on Health
@happyhanneke What do you mean? I specifically mention I am a man in this thread lol. I wear a polyester uniform on a daily basis now and have no way around it. So it's not like I'm not understanding of the fact that it's hard. That's why i asked specifically for female input here

It’s in my best interest to wear steel toe boots because I’m constantly dealing with farm equipment and livestock.
oh yeah ofcourse. you don't want a cow leaning on your toe and pulverizing it lol.
I would look for wide toe box work boots with a minimal drop and relatively flexible soles. I found the terra venom online that fits at least the first two criteria.
I see the brand 'keen' also mentioned. to some extent the heel itself kind of protects your foot, so none of these are truly barefoot. But having used barefoot sandals before these current boots, i can confidently say the super wide toe box isl likely more important than the sole thickness ( which is still important)
