the rpf admin being an "absentee landlord" in the early days is true. really i don't believe there has been a fundamental change in character, the fella is just experiencing euphoria from having discovered the answer (yet again) and to the detriment of his own board is "participating" a lot more. crazy to think if the fella just stayed as the absentee landlord and spent all his time reading facebook health groups like he always did, there wouldn't have been a downfall.

as for your point about how the early days of the peat-sphere evolved into what the rpf turned into, yeah i don't understand it either. all i can conclude is the truly original posters either got banned or no longer saw value in contributing and it basically just devolved into a bunch of laggards theorizing about how the world will end.

this is typically true for any board, there is always a golden era where you have a handful of personalities providing unique insights, which is why a new board was a good idea even if there wasn't a complete meltdown on the rpf.

@brad it did occur to me upon making that post that 2 out of 2 ray peat inspired forum admins did succumb to what would appear to be some form of psychosis. despite the 100% insanity rate, i am optimistic for the future.

the ex-"peatarians" who discovered ray via the pig matt stone never cease to surprise me, it's the gift that keeps on giving truly. they will sleight peats recommendations claiming "oh i gained too much weight" but i will bet the farm they are all still suffering from obesitas despite not having done anything resembling peating in years. almost like the whole interest in "alt-health" originated from the desire to find modalities that allow them to eat like a pig and blame someone else when it goes wrong (the matt stone generation).

harsh but it is the truth and i have no qualms saying it as such. i love ray and what his ideas did for me, i could not care less about those who use his name for profit and now debase him by comparing him to some facebook health group guru chiropractor selling his advices to hag-wives glued to their screen 18 hours a day.

does anyone remember the old peatarian board? the admin there had an interesting arc as well, he took the board down and brought it back a few times over the course of a couple years, the last time ending in what appeared to be a severe schizophrenic episode where he accused danny roddy and several others of hacking his computer and taunting him by trying to secretly communicate insults to him. frankly im not sure which meltdown is more retarded, that fella or the rpf fella.

the new crop of people who discovered peat and are in this sphere do not seem to have the same severe defects as the matt stone generation.

sissy squats don't seem to be particularly agreeable if you overdo loading, you probably had it strength wise but the movement itself just isn't conducive to too much loading. if you do them on a hack squat for example, you can get the full stretch and hit failure within a reasonable number of reps with as light as 1x 25 plate on each side (for the hack sissy squat technique, meadows has a video demonstrating this, i do not recommend the form platz advocates for this variation).

depending on how you execute your leg extensions you can get most of the same benefits as sissy squats. at least when it comes to getting that deep stretch. years ago i used a lying leg extension / leg curl combination that didn't have an upright back support, it was simply a lay down. for whatever reason, laying on my back and doing leg extensions this way just took the stretch to the next level and it felt like a sissy squat that was effectively able to be loaded. i haven't run into a machine since then that allows me to lay on my back to do extensions comfortably the way this machine did.

as i don't think you did any real damage, chalk it up to the tweaks and strains that will happen from time to time in training. you will be perfectly fine within a week or two, avoid smith squatting (any variety) during this period as i find it to be particularly strenuous on the knees compared to other movements.

it took some getting used to on my end. like yourself i prefer the traditional board format from the early web 2.0 days.

for some reason, a lot of people are put off by the old style of boards, i have to conclude many people are viewing from a phone hence the modern format is more palatable.

i donät blame brad for electing to use a more modern board format despite my preference and nostalgia for something like the traditional xenforo/phpbb/smf/mybb. probably jarring at first for those of us who have used boards for decades but for people who have no preference either way its maybe ideal.

i think he will improve it with time. if you go to the official forum for the particular forum software being used here, its 100x more jarring and difficult to read so there has already been a good effort to make it more digestible. unfortunately one of the downsides of using an older or less maintained forum software is probably a lot of latent security vulnerabilities, using the latest and greatest is probably partly done to avoid the problems that come with "less maintained" board software.

@CO3 there is definitely an enjoyable quality to using the machine, its nice being able to make a big pot at once especially if you drink cups back to back during the day. its also a bit of a spectacle to watch it work. i think the machine is great for the purpose of facilitating a large appetite for coffee. do i think the taste is noticeably better than say an economical drip maker or other method, not really, or at least i cant discern, but there are intangible qualities that make it a real treat to use.

upon rising i turn on moccamaster, have first cup with first meal of the day, then chain drinking cups back to back with meals throughout the day until its time to unwind / shift into a parasympathetic state.

@brightside haha, no but not a bad guess! i used to care quite a bit about fitness/bodybuilding/etc a decade or so ago but that was before that fella came on the scene so i never got into that. these days im more interested in bioenergetics but some habits die hard (hence the muscle meat, jasmine rice, and robotic speech patterns apparently).

quite a few, i eat a relatively high amount of muscle meat relative to gelatinous cuts, i don't find particularly many fruits or fruit juices to be agreeable and only eat them when i truly crave them, relying mostly on jasmine rice for glucose.

despite this, i actually think peats recommendations (or more accurately, foods he spoke highly of) are second to none and they do indeed work, i just feel better when i use them sporadically rather than try to structure an entire day around it, i find it more dopaminergic to eat this way as well. if im feeling particularly stressed or unwell i will deploy some OJ and masa harina cooked in coconut oil etc.

i have said before i think peat provides a holistic framework you can use and i use this framework to help with stress and creativity and have found it to be more useful for these purposes. with that, i do think the traditional peaty foods are excellent i just opt to use them sporadically on an as needed basis and feel better this way.

i no longer supplement Ca as i have concluded i don't need many direct sources or particularly large amounts to maintain normal Ca status and keep PTH down, however, when i did, i used calcium carbonate derived from egg shells.

the standard recommendation i have seen was to dissolve calcium carbonate in something and drink it but i didn't really want to take a large bolus of Ca at once nor did i want to drink this multiple times a day, so what i ended up doing was mixing a tiny bit of vinegar with the eggshell calcium and adding it into the rice cooker while cooking jasmine rice. this didn't turn out particularly bad but it also didn't mix particularly amazing but it was still perfectly edible and allowed a steady supply of Ca throughout the day whenever i ate rice instead of a bolus.

logic would dictate this would work better with slaked lime which is part of the nixtamalization process but i never got around to doing that. the chinese did this to sticky rice to create mortar for the great wall.

before i discontinued Ca supplementation, the two other varieties that i wanted to experiment with:

organic kale and collard green powder: i've seen a few such products, some variance in Ca quantity but a good amount nonetheless

never got around to trying either kind as i said, i discontinued Ca supplementation but those are the two products that are not commonly recommended that i wanted to mess around with.

when i was experimenting with Ca supplementation i enjoyed only supplementing modestly small amounts but spread out throughout the day.

great post. mastication is extremely underrated and a potential cause of digestive issues, your mouth is a part of the digestive system after all. digestion starts with salivary amylase of which you can produce more of the more you chew, you can ostensibly chew something enough until its mostly liquid.

the downside is i find this to be a massive pain and its also disgusting. i eat mostly jasmine rice and chewing rice until its effectively a slurry multiple times a day is utterly vile. probably not so bad for other things, i find i have no qualms doing this with gummy candies for example.

a few years ago he was touting the "grape diet" or the "morse diet" claiming it turned all his problems around. said it was "God's diet" (sound familiar?). as i said before: doomed to toil hopping from one pole to another, these people are the concentrated "success" of the cluster who discovered peat through that disgusting pig Matt Stone, whose only interest was finding diet modalities that allow him to eat like a disgusting pig.

i got the impression the board thrived because for the most part the admin and that woman moderator puppet of his were effectively "absentee landlords" for the most part.

member @Truth is correct in that admin has always been a shitty admin, he is just more active now it seems due to euphoria from finding the answer to all his problems once again for the 10th time in the past decade. board was good in spite of the staff, this is very important.

i donät believe it's him, there are several incongruent points in post history if you look back far enough.

i joked in another thread that at this rate that board is going to be admin and his 3-4 alts, and while creating alt accounts years in advance and leaving contradictory information to hide your trail is not outside the scope of anyone with a reasonable level of cognition, it is outside the scope of the admin of that board.

the better question is where these people even came from, suddenly out of nowhere. i was thinking earlier as well, the reason so many people on that board seem utterly incapable of using rays ideas as a framework in which they are highly adaptable is because many of them only discovered peat from that matt stone fella or some other fad blogger. these fellas are doomed to toil hopping from one pole to another looking for the solution, suffice to say anyone providing a holistic framework (ray) will just be distilled to "just tell me how much food and what food to stuff in my stupid mouth".

i will say in terms of being used as an archive, that board is second to none. of course, you have the early posters to thank for the high quality of information, and some have switched over to this board, thankfully. hopefully more soon.

aromatization will definitely happen when taking testosterone, the rate at which you convert to e2 can vary and it can change with time even in yourself. i noticed in myself over the years as my baseline bodyfat got lower so did my propensity for e2 side effects. the side effects you list specifically in point #2 are typically what one would associate with high e2, it could also be the case the test levels got too low towards the latter half of the week and your test/e2 ratio was in a bad state (hence the migraine attack).

i definitely advocate getting the most from the lowest dosage you can, especially with trt as it can help mitigate a lot of issues people have with trt like e2, rbc's, hematocrit, etc but i also suspect the total weekly dosage might be on the low end. i know i mentioned the shot frequency but if the total weekly load is far too low that could be a problem for all the same reasons too.

if say hypothetically you switch to something like 37.5mg taken 2x per week (75mg test cyp per week total), you will be avoiding the larger peaks and troughs and thus hormonal fluctuations (possibly useful for keeping stable e2) and you will also be taking a step to avoid test levels from getting too low. this should be a useful strategy. bloodwork will be illuminating but you will also know if you feel amazing again after your next dose and start to feel poorly after a few days again.

the current trend in trt circles is more frequent dosing being ideal, some people are even doing everyday or every other day dosing with enan/cyp and are having a better time managing e2 or hematocrit. i personally do daily with enanthate (subq with an insulin syringe).

i have experimented with many shampoos, soaps, moisturizing products that could be seen as peaty that i could get my hands on and i have found the following to be the most agreeable:

shampoo:
pharmacopia verbena shampoo (contains aloe vera, jojoba oil, coconut oil)

soap:
aleppo soap

i have to caveat this one, although you can find coconut oil soap (kirk's castile bar soap) i must say i was not impressed, i find aleppo soap to be much more agreeable. if coconut oil works well for your complexion then consider the kirk's product.

moisturizer:
whipped organic beef tallow cream

this last one is interesting, usually anything oily reacts poorly for me, but for some reason beef tallow is one of the most agreeable things i can use for my face. gives a nice glow and has the added benefit of smelling like a high quality gourmet hamburger.

also, i find the trick to using moisturizers is to not be so obsessive with making sure you use it 2x a day or whatever the bottle says. it becomes a chore and you will inevitably become burned out, i also suspect overuse causes bad reactions after a long enough period of time. i will sometimes go a couple days without using the tallow and if i dont feel like using it on a given day i wont, i still see benefits. less is definitely more when it comes to putting something on your face.

one thing i could never find was a peaty sunscreen...

dosing frequency comes to mind.

depending on what ester is being used, once per week might result in levels dropping too low before your next shot, especially since 50mg per week is a very conservative dose. lowest dose i usually hear for doctor prescribed injectable trt (assuming enanthate or cypionate) is probably around 75mg.

lets assume levels dont drop too low even 1x per week dosing: less frequent injections usually result in larger fluctuations. in my own experiments its not entirely clear if less frequent dosing (within reason) results in a net increase in markers like e2 or hematocrit given the course of the week (it might reach a higher peak for both but it might lower as levels do later on the in the week, reaching parity with more frequent injections when you average it out) BUT less frequent shots will result in bigger fluctuations and these fluctuations can create side effects.

here is a graph to illustrate the point:

50mg of cypionate once per week:

25mg of cypionate 2x per week:

and just for fun, 14mg every other day (roughly 50mg per week):

i think the current theory is testosterone helps with migraines because for some the cause can be a bad ratio of estradiol to test, so if it provided relief by attenuating this ratio but it fades towards the end of the week then either test levels are getting too low or there are too big fluctuations in e2, in which case more frequent dosing is a good first step.

here is what i suggest:

1. switch to 2x per week dosing
2. consider a very conservative increase to 75mg per week

more frequent dosing seems to be the preference among the more forward-thinking people in the TRT space, a lot of MD's especially endos have questionable practices such was prescribing a cypionate or enanthate ester and only giving once every 2 week shots (ive heard of even less frequent).

in your case i would be more curious what your levels are at nadir so maybe ask your doc to pull bloods right before your next dose so you can see if you are getting TOO low, if you are then you guys can switch to 2x per week dosing or up the dosage. that should have you feeling pretty ok, then you can look at e2 and see if you are aromatizing too much. ideally you want to find a dose that you feel good on that doesn't require drugs to manage e2, although this is elusive for many. in my experience e2 management becomes a breeze if bodyfat is low enough (the more adipose the higher the aromatase activity).

@Hugh in bodybuilding circles the recommendation i have seen for venous insufficiency is horse chestnut extract or pycnogenol.

i personally use lumbrokinase/boluoke for circulatory health which seems to help with this issue. it gives me peace of mind as well due to its fibrinolytic activity.
