Pregnenolone's impact on a woman's cycle?
Hi,
I've been searching through forum posts but haven't found an answer to my question, so I'm posting it here. How does the use of pregnenolone affect the menstrual cycle? Is there a specific protocol for women in their reproductive prime?
Kind regards

Propranolol, agression & autism
Since there is a known issue with autistic children and problems of increased aggression and fight-or-flight susceptibility during puberty, my question is: does anyone have personal experience with propranolol?
It's a well-known, old beta-blocker. According to literature , it is one of the few medicines which directly attenuates aggressive outbursts and lowers the fight-or-flight response. Also used "off-label" for above stated issues.
A concern is bradycardia and hypotension in children. Since only available dosage is 40 mg. Tablet can not be divided.
I know cyproheptadine is useful for lowering serotonin, but it is not available in our region, nor in neighboring countries.
Personal experiences are more welcome than PubMed linking.Kind regards

PUFA & weight loss
So I was recently thinking (again) about PUFAs. And one important question that always occurs is - how does the body remove them with minimal collateral damage?
Since anytime you lose weight, they get released into the bloodstream and slow down the metabolic rate. Any good literature from Haidut, Ray Peat or someone who has the required knowledge?
Kind regards

High sugar diet and cavities
Are there any articles by Ray Peat on this topic? I'm still wondering how a high-sugar diet impacts tooth health.
We know of ancestral tribes like the Kitavans or Tsimane, who consumed a carb-rich diet and had great health, but there is no data on their tooth status. The only high-carb plus milk nation known to have good dental health were the Swiss from Lötschental, as noted in Weston A. Price's book.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Nasal congestion remedies
Nasal congestion is often a gut issue. So anything that helps heal the gut, should be of benefit.
- collagen
- spirulina
- raw honey
- vitamin A
- full fat dairy
- egg yolks
- colostrum
...the list goes on

RE: Boron.
@bolditinerary this article might interest you:
"As the current article shows, boron has been proven to be an important trace mineral because it (1) is essential for the growth and maintenance of bone; (2) greatly improves wound healing; (3) beneficially impacts the body's use of estrogen, testosterone, and vitamin D; (4) boosts magnesium absorption; (5) reduces levels of inflammatory biomarkers, such as high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α); (6) raises levels of antioxidant enzymes, such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase, and glutathione peroxidase; (7) protects against pesticide-induced oxidative stress and heavy-metal toxicity; (8) improves the brains electrical activity, cognitive performance, and short-term memory for elders; (9) influences the formation and activity of key biomolecules, such as S-adenosyl methionine (SAM-e) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)); (10) has demonstrated preventive and therapeutic effects in a number of cancers, such as prostate, cervical, and lung cancers, and multiple and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma; and (11) may help ameliorate the adverse effects of traditional chemotherapeutic agents."

RE: Iodine prevents lipid peroxidation, induces cancer cell apoptosis, antioxidant, immunomodulator, more than doubles tesosterone
@Ray-Peat-Fanboy High iodine intake, without sufficient micronutrient support, increases the risk of Hashimoto's, especially in women. Selenium seems to plays a crucial role in protecting the thyroid from further tissue damage caused by excess iodine intake.

RE: Binge Eating
Start with low hanging fruits:
- increase protein intake
- 3 meals per day, with at least 40 g of protein
- breakfast for champs -> impacts overall daily food intake

RE: Cutting out animal protein alleviates my autoimmune symptoms
@payreat Collagen is not pro-anabolic, thus significant muscle gain should not be anticipated. It's not just the presence of animal protein that's crucial, but their ratios as well, with the glycine to methionine ratio likely playing a critical role in maintaining robust immune function.
Why it matters?
If the glycine to methionine ratio is too low, it can disrupt various bodily functions. This imbalance may lead to reduced effectiveness in the body's detoxification processes, increased oxidative stress, and potentially hinder the synthesis of important molecules like glutathione, which is crucial for antioxidant defense. Over time, such an imbalance can contribute to the development of chronic diseases and impair immune function.
Chris MasterJohn recommends a G:M ratio of 4:1
