@fiester Interesting. I may try beetjuice soon to see how it effects me. I've never tried it before because I simply don't like beets. But if I had to take a wild guess, it may be due to the fact it's increasing nitric oxide TOO much. Since beets can directly stimulate it's synthesis. Whereas PDE-inhibitors will only prevent the breakdown of NO.

RE: Why is the Ray Peat community so far right?
Capitalism describes a system of ownership. So I would agree it should be differentiated from a simple commodity exchange, which is something even Marx himself took notice of. The fatal misconception in the left's argument is believing private ownership doesn't (or otherwise can't or never has) existed outside the scope of State decree and artificial scarcity. Ownership occurs at that precise moment when the natural environment has been transformed by the physical labor of another individual.
And once this transformation has taken place, then the owner can exchange with another individual who has also transformed nature via physical labor to create property. Hence how the early free-market radicals viewed capitalism...a system of voluntary exchange. This is also why wealthy plutocrats originally feared the early libertarian radicals in the late 1960s, as this radical approach to property appropriation would make Big Business a thing of the past. Murray Rothbard's homestead principle paper entails the situation perfectly. It would basically be a proletariat takeover without the nationalization. Basically Rothbard took Marx's idea and upgraded it. Then the libertarian movement got corrupted in the 70s by the kochtopus and has essentially been seen as a pro-corporate movement ever since (except for another brief stent in the 90s when libertarians allied with right-wing populists). But typically speaking, true right-wingers are rarely free market supporters.
When you drift far enough to the right, it's basically the same thing as the left. Fascism is Socialism with a side of nationalistic fervor. If you go ALL the way to the end of the right-wing spectrum, which is Eco-Fascism, then you arrive at "reactionary anti-capitalism." There also anti-human in general, but that's besides the point I guess. I suppose the point I am making is that Capitalism has not held a clear distinction of itself throughout the 700 years of it's existence. And from a historical analysis, a critique of Capitalism largely rests on the land grabs by English parliamentarians in the 16th century. Although modern leftists continually forget (or remain ignorant to) the State itself is what made those land grabs possible, and that forcing people into a wage-rent cash nexus is mutually exclusive to transforming labor into private property.

RE: What are non-Peaty things you still do?
@fiester What did you use to increase it? I've gotten headaches from stuff like sildenafil before, and I don't think it's a very good drug. Tadalafil is better because it can be dosed as low as 2.5mg and still be effective.

RE: Vitamin E as solvent for hormones
My understanding is it increases oral assimilation of steroids into the bloodstream and potentially tissues as well because tocopherol is absorbed through the chylomicrons and therefore the liver won't break them down, at least in first pass through. That's why I won't even fuck with any progesterone product that isn't Progest-E. The others are typically dissolved in MCT oil, which will go STRAIGHT to the liver via portal vein. Once in the liver progesterone is turned into something else...allopregenolone I think.

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@Mulloch94 On a slightly different note, I was using a different username on RPF (it was Jessie), and I never held back at how insane I thought the toxin A stuff was, and I was surprised I was never banned actually. But it was before Charlie went full-blown gestapo. I don't have a problem with Grant, but I didn't hold back letting people know I thought it was weird. I mean this guy is a engineer, he isn't a medical doctor, physiologist, biologist, endocrinologist or anything even remotely qualifiable. That doesn't mean he can't be right about some things, you have to be somewhat intelligent to be an engineer, but dude is out of his element here. And if what he did improved his health then good for him. But as far as I'm concerned it's one BIG anecdote and nothing more. Me personally, this fad seems like one of the more quicker ways to sabotage certain bodily processes. It's unique in how it targets a specifically known-to-be essential vitamin for removal. Whereas other alternative approaches like plant based, keto, paleo, whatever target certain food groups for removal, but continue to emphasize filling nutritional requirements from alternative food choices.

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@DonkeyDude Yeah makes sense. That is the paradoxical nature to forums regarding one's health I suppose. The least active members tend to be the healthiest people because they're all out enjoying life. While the members frequently posting typically always has a new problem arise. I don't anything about Charlie's personal life, but he strikes me as the type of person with huge social void. A void he's attempting to fill with religious extremism by the looks of it. I mean, dude literally banned a guy for using the word "god" and not "God." It's so weird he's a MAGA bro. Because he follows the behavioral profile of one of the "safe space trigger warning" progressives. I just hope he doesn't end up seriously wrecking anyone's health. I already saw where some guy was posting a thread about him and his girlfriend doing a vit A detox, and like his girlfriend started getting vision problems (retinoic acid is important for eye health).

RE: Calcium supplement
I second all the recommendations for eggshell. It's cost effective, cuts down waste, and has basically no taste so it can go in practically anything. Burger patties, pancake batter, omelets, masa tortillas are some of my favorites. I've also put it in soups before, but it works best in thicker soups.

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
It's interesting, because to me it just seems like Charlie has submitted to this orthodoxy normie approach of taking the "kitchen sink" full of vitamins. He was talking about taking niacin, selenium, zinc, potassium, even fucking molybdenum (lol, I've never EVER heard of a molybdenum deficiency before....ever). The "toxic Peat diet" would literally give you all of those nutrients. He was also talking about copper toxicity as if he struck some sort of revelation shared to him by the arch angel Michael. Like, dude, that's not a new concept, literally google the word "overmethylation" and I guarantee you something about copper dominance and/or low histamine will be towards the top of the page. I want to let the record stand I don't have any problem with Garrett. I don't agree with him, but unless he's LITERALLY crazy like Charlie then I don't see how Garrett will approve of his tactics either. Besides, in a year or two from now, once this new fad proves to not work for Charlie either, he'll turn his back on Garrett too. I'm starting to think he's just an insane hypochondriac.

RE: What are non-Peaty things you still do?
@TopicalsOnBalls I've had the best experience with phosphodiesterase inhibitors. I prefer the route of increasing cAMP and cGMP. It's probably safer, considering with direct precursors you have less control on what types of NO are being created. PDE-4's will increase nNOS which will stimulate the hypothalamus to release GnRH, which is essential for androgen synthesis. Of course, PDE-5's will increase eNOS, and improve endothelial health. I've tried both pharma and botanical PDE's with little to no preference for either. I actually think oat straw is the best PDE-4, easy to get too. It also inhibits MAO-B. So it's dopaminergic as well. Low dose Cialis is the best PDE-5 in my opinion. Cialis will also antagonize the aromatase, another plus.

RE: What are non-Peaty things you still do?
@TopicalsOnBalls I've experimented with citrulline malate, seemed to augment or otherwise synergize well with dopaminergic compounds. Sort of makes sense considering they both have antagonistic effects on prolactin.

RE: What are non-Peaty things you still do?
Probably the biggest thing is I'm unsure how committed I am to the nitric oxide stuff. I think it's probably good to limit some types of nitric oxide (like iNOS) because they increase endotoxin and permeability. But increase or at least maintain other types of nitric oxide, like eNOS.
When you dive a little deeper, there's actually some common "peaty" things that increase eNOS too, like mildronate. And even thyroid itself according to this https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0753332220300718

RE: Any experiences with DHT?
I've used it, but you're probably going to have to buy it raw and mix the solution up yourself. It's also technically a Scheduled III controlled substance, so I'd advise caution when getting it. Domestic labs don't go through customs, worth keeping in mind. Sad it's so restricted, but it is what it is I guess. Never count out the FDA to sabotage someone's medical autonomy.
I got DHT, from two sources, and I've always worried about quality control since it's from "underground" sellers basically. But both times my reaction was pretty decent. GABA like effect for me, although I think the GABAgeric effect is less pronounced then it is with androsterone. It was very thermogenic, raised temps similar to thyroid or progesterone.
It was okay but I like normal testosterone better. When applied topically, normal T will also generate plenty of DHT as well. The only negative is you gotta be mindful of excessive estrogen elevation. But in my opinion it's worth it so I can get the benefits of both DHT and the qualities unique to T. It's hard to describe, but I start to feel "off" when my T:DHT swings too much in favor of DHT. Some people would insist it's because it lowers estrogen. But I think it's mostly related to the GABAgeric effects.

RE: Why is the Ray Peat community so far right?
FWIW I don't think I'm far-right. I'm a libertarian especially when it comes to fractional reserve banking and central banking. Not in the "oh dirty Jews own the banks" kind of way either. But because they cause the boom-bust cycles in the economy. I'm also libertarian on most of the social issues. The LGBTQ stuff is where I tend to draw the line out and become slightly more conservative. If only because I don't believe little children should be indoctrinated in that stuff. As for the adults, I ostensibly have no problem with gays and transgenders.

Hello I'm new to the forum.
Glad I found this place with the reference from a good samaritan over at r/raypeat on Reddit. I was desperately trying to find a RPF alternative and this appears to be the spot! It's like finding home again. To give a very brief background on myself I've been following bioenergetics way of lifestyle since 2018, I'm 30 years old currently.
I probably won't be a super active member here, but my activity to will fluctuate depending on how busy I am with other stuff. As many of you know and probably experienced yourself, I had a NOT so pleasant relationship with the RPF's admin. Blossum was actually nice though, at least I thought.
Oh I'm currently on the mend from some sort of viral infection. Flu I think, maybe COVID, not sure. I've been achy though, and running a fever. Some vitamin C, aspirin, thyroid, and charcoal has gotten me through it though. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be 90-100%. I was already significantly better today.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to talking with some people.
