I have tried the forehead swipe thermometers and ear thermometers and can't seem to get consistent readings with them, so I just use a cheap digital thermometer and leave it underarm for like 5-10 minutes and that seems to give solid readings.

RE: Gym datamining thread
@BigusDickus Now those are some names I haven't heard in a long time. I love the tradition of forum dwellers spreading programs named after users or random websites. I haven't checked in on the culture lately but I remember tons of people going around recommending "Ivysaur's PPL" or something like that.

RE: Most bioenergetic country to move to
Why Warsaw? I think high altitude living in the Tatras would be nice if you like lots of snow. In my dreamscapes, I would summer in Poland and winter in Italy.

RE: General discussion HIT strength training.
@Norwegian-Mugabe I am glad to hear it is working well for you. Can you or these others post before and after pics and a little bit on your training style before switching to HIT plus an outline on your HIT routine? Curious about your routine since it varies from the standard Mentzer program based on what you wrote prior.

RE: Subforum Proposal: Bioenergetic Devs
@enoch I like this idea as well. Maybe an overall DIY/Tech with a sub based on project development would work out well.

RE: General discussion HIT strength training.
@Norwegian-Mugabe Yes but I also didn't really grow much either in the 6 months I tried it, especially compared to "normal" programming. I was quoting those numbers more to use an empirical point than to imply HIT is a valuable powerlifting program. Doing HIT is fine if you are only interested in spending a short time in the gym once a week and possibly maintaining a decent physique but it really isn't a valuable tool for body building past a point.

RE: Good dairy product recommendations
At my local grocery store, most of the higher end French bries will have have animal rennet. I typically stick with Italian cheeses because they have strict requirements on rennet usage and naming. There are two French brie styles that also have a naming requirement which dictates animal rennet use, but they are expensive and I don't think you'd typically find them at a grocery store.
Here's a good resource for what cheeses to NOT buy:

RE: Beef Thyroid vs Supplement
I emailed Evolved Elements to ask if they had any kind of measurement of potency for their product, ie an estimate on number of grains or amount of T3/T4 per dose and they never answered. Most NDT powders on the market don't reveal this because I think it is likely wildly inconsistent, which would make me cautious taking or recommending NDT powder in general.

Gardening
Does anyone here grow their own food? I have expanded my garden every year for the last few years and grow a lot of staples. Currently maintaining about 200 sqft of garden plus a strawberry field of 100 plants and maybe gotten in over my head.
I get seeds every year from rareseeds.com, very nice website for finding interesting and heirloom varieties. Their ancient melons were a hit with friends when I grew them. I would also recommend these carrots for carrot saladmaxxing. -

I haven't seen any of his other films, going to watch some and see if they have the same energy

RE: General discussion HIT strength training.
In my peak condition(fat powerlifter), I found super low training volume very effective, but across multiple very heavy sets. I would train squats 3x3 or sometimes 4x2 at near maximal loads once or twice a week. Never tested 1RM at this level, but would probably put it somewhere around 440 lbs.
Had a pretty long layoff between heavy cutting and irl projects and when I returned to training I did Mentzer by the book HIT and my squat capped out and stuck at around 320x6 and overall found progress much slower than more more frequent training sessions. I think low volume works with high intensities, but one set is a little too low. -
RE: Starch: a necessary evil?
I personally always find myself craving either rice or potatoes to go along with meals. Not sure if this is ancestral memory or a genuine operating need.

RE: Ray Peat's Marmalade?
Maybe try straining and muddling the peels a bit. I think strips are better suited to making something like a limoncello(peaty).

RE: Ray Peat's Marmalade?
@brad Sounds like maybe too much water. It should thicken up nicely once you add the sugar in.

RE: /BBG/ - BODYBUILDING GENERAL
I see lots of Mike Mentzer HITcels posting, but never fizeek. Is there a Mentzerian Candidate out there?
I did Mentzer's program as described by the book Heavy Duty after coming back to lifting after a short hiatus and finding it very underwhelming in terms of results. Workouts felt good and left me gassed, but if anything I found myself shrinking, except maybe my chest getting a little bigger.

RE: Dark Theme / Custom Themes
If you go into your settings, there are several(too many) options available for themes.
