@Peatly Great article, thank you. I've been using 5000 IU in olive oil since that's what I have available. I may stop the iodine to avoid confounding variables. I did take before pictures, so if it works, I'll provide proof. If any of you have application suggestions, I'm happy to test them. The olive oil is a little inconvenient.

@cljohnson14 said in Spider veins: Has anyone seen a difference in spider veins from taking thyroid? I’ve had a leg ultrasound done. All is well. But I keep getting them. So obviously my veins are weakening. Was hoping thyroid would help. Although thyroid function probably enters into the equation, there are more things that affect the veins which point to other things you can do. Inflammation and estrogen come to mind. Banishing all polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) from the diet would be helpful because PUFA is inflammatory and estrogenic. Ray Peat on Veins, interviews Ray Peat on Veins, written work

I have phimosis, but over the last few years (of Peating, although that could be coincidence), it has gotten better. I do not get hurt so easily during sex. But that was after many times of having the foreskin basically get painfully stuck down on the shaft during sex, which probably stretched it out.

@eric said in Are zyns Peaty?: Georgi went into nicotine in detail in an old GE episode. The summary was that nicotine is a mixed bag and is ultimately not peaty. I'll try to find it. found it (may be errors in transcript) I wouldn't use nicotine long term. I think nicotine has some great advantages short term. It is an aromatase inhibitor. It's a monoaminoxidase type B inhibitor. So in other words, you will lower estrogen and may increase. It will decrease the degradation of dopamine, right? But it also releases free fatty acids, and it's pretty effective at that. And it has a potent pro-adrenergic effect. And it's also like basically acts as an agonist of the acetylcholine receptors. So this in the long run actually has really detrimental effects. And they outweigh the positive ones. And ironically actually, despite the fact that smoking cigarettes has other and more dangerous. So overall, cigarette is ironically like a stronger carcinogen. But systemically for the health is better in the sense that it has additional components there that mitigate somewhat the negative effects of nicotine. So, but if you only use nicotine, it's not a carcinogenic. But I think over time, it really targets the brain and the elevated free fatty acids. It basically raises your metabolism in a bad way. It mimics exhaustive exercise. You're going to get the same adrenergic slash cortisol response if you run for like, I don't know, five, six, ten miles. From Generative Energy #05

@cornwallis I purchased doxycycline tablets from Mexico, only one box of 10 tablets. I experienced with several low doses, and can recommend staying below the 40mg to avoid development of bacterial resistances. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4421036/ I experimented with the following dosages: On the first day, I took half a tablet (50mg) and experienced slight intestinal discomfort. This prompted me to reduce the dose to 25mg once every 24hours. After about 2 days of this I increased the dosage to 25mg every 12 hours, this was in an attempt to keep reducing the bacterial load at a steady pace. Keep in mind I did this without any advice or instruction from any doctor or medical expert. I ended up only consuming about 225mg total, and have 7.75 tablets left over. I would recommend staying upright during the first 20-30minutes of consumption and if you can handle it, on an empty stomach. Make sure to be careful with sunlight exposure as doxycycline can make you very sensitive to sunlight exposure.

@PissBoy It's about restricting the activation of the cholinergic system by protecting yourself against patterns of learned helplessness. You could try and visualise sodomising your school's faculty. Ray and Georgi talked about this. @Cearrson Hi, I suggest that the positions in which you instinctively sleep are potentially better in many cases, sleeping on your back is not better in itself, I have observed several people who snore and have sleep apnea on their backs, and when I suggested that they sleep on their sides and / or reduce their number of pillows and they instinctively began to sleep more on their sides, they no longer snored and no longer had sleep apnea

@skylark yes I have talked about this before with my friends and family (another sound that I dislike very much is styrofoam, though not as much as Velcro, which even thinking about it now makes me wince in pain) — and the only person who gets me is a close friend of mine who told me that he hates the sound of metal grating on metal and told me that his dad and brother share similar things, and he said something about overstimulation and autism, which runs in his family.
