@Insr following your estimate, even if I don’t drink milk, I definitely get enough Iodine

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
@CrumblingCookie said in B-complex and or Multi recommendation?:
So only about 9% of oral NAC reaches circulation as NAC. The other 91% of oral NAC get taken up and deacelytated by enterocytes and hepatocytes.
@CrumblingCookie if I'm understanding well, even if most of the oral NAC is deacelytated, the cysteine will go mostly for GSH synthesis correct?, which seems to be a good thing, or this means it would be better not to take oral NAC because the deacelytated process?
did they use an oral or injection form in the studies you attached?

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
wow, that is amazing. thank you so much for putting this together, this should be a pinned post on NAC vs Cysteine
My anecdote:
Years ago I was having a gut issue, I started taking NAC slow released from Jarrow, and it literally improved the issue substantially in a matter of a day or two. -
RE: Mercola/Strong Sista and Alan Christianson on excess Iodine
@Insr said in Mercola/Strong Sista and Alan Christianson on excess Iodine:
For the record, iodine is in excess on a Peaty diet, only because modern cows and chickens get iodine supplements which make the milk and eggs too high in iodine. It wouldn't be a problem naturally.
that is exactly what they say in the video.
I was concerned about my Iodine intake since I do not drink milk regularly, but it looks like I'll be just fine

@Insr how do you determine your Iodine intake? Cronometer does not show any data

Mercola/Strong Sista and Alan Christianson on excess Iodine
The summary of this video is:
Iodine is actually in excess if a nutritious diet like the Peat diet is followed.
It made sense to me as I remember reading a paper on the Weston Price foundation on Iodine intake of our ancestors, depending on the area, but the average intake of our ancestors was about 100 mcg or so per day, so not that different from the Alan Christianson recommendations.
I'm just not quiet sure about his take on optimal body temp, Ashely is not either.

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
If I'm understanding correctly, NAC is actually beneficial as some studies show, totally different from Cysteine?
I supplemented with NAC for years, but put it aside since in the Peat world.

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
Since I'm ingesting allot of B12 from food, beside the 8oz of liver I have weekly I also eat 1lb of beef heart as well, plus 3 eggs daily, do you think adding more B12 with a B-complex once or twice weekly can be an issue?
it seems like the products I like they also contain the B12, beside Energin and the B-complex from Forefront

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
@wester130 I know this company. It looks good, I like it since it doesn't have B12 in it. However it doesn't have the B5 in it though, which I think it can be helpful for adrenal hormone production.

@Corngold I didn't really retain much info on Citric Acid, I heard Georgi talking about it many times in a negative way as cancer promoter, perhaps Ray Peat has some article or interview about it.

Source Naturals "Coenzymate" B Complex
thanks for the suggestion. However, this product contain cellulose gum and magnesium stearate.
B vitamins can actually accumulate and stay in circulations for days, but it makes sense to take a small dose more often, perhaps it is not necessary though
interesting study about P5P, I may just stay away from Energin, too expensive also I believe.

Alani energy
I just took a quick look at it, there is citric acid in it.

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
thank you very much for the info.
I do remember now the methylated b9 and b12 form being better for some reason, thanks for the reminding me about that.
I used life extension two per day for years, for the low cost and activated b's, and it made me think now if I was actually experiencing some side effects you mentioned, as I have being off for over a week and I fall a sleep better, but feel more sleepy during the day though.
I'm checking again the products you recommended, thanks again.

RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
@albion thank you!
do you know if its always better to get the methylated version, even when there is not MTHFR mutation gene?
-
RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
interesting. Another reason why some brilliant people recommend to take B complex only once or twice per week. Paul Jaminett would recommend as well B-50 once per week.
wouldn't it be better to use an activated B-complex at all times?
-
RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
@Serotoninskeptic I think I benefit from taking once or twice per week some B-complex, and I think it may be a good idea to get some extra Selenium, manganese, molybdenum and chromium due to the unsure content of these in food, perhaps copper too.
do you know what is the general idea in the peat world about supplementing with minerals? is some mineral recommended beside Magnesium and Calcium if dairy is not eaten?
-
RE: B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
@16charactersitis Energin looks good, I like the fact that doesn't have any b12 or folate. Pricy though.
Do you take any minerals supplement? I used to use life extension multivitamin, just a capsule a couple of times per week.

B-complex and or Multi recommendation?
Hi guys
any peaty B-complex beside Energin, or Multivitamin would you recommend?
in the case of using a b-complex, is a multimineral a good idea?
I eat liver once per week and seafood, occasionally oysters, the rest is eggs, white rice, fruit, ground beef, cheese and some chicken breast.

Has anyone ever tested Progesterone levels on Progest-E
I'm wondering if you guys have ever measured serum level while supplementing with either Progest-E or the Health Natura product.
If so, did your levels increased? how do you take your Progest?
Hidut mentions in one video that Progest in Vitamin E has 44hr half life, I run a couple of tests, and it does not seem to have such a half life.

RE: why would I no longer tolerate Pregnenolone?
HI @Jennifer
I did not know this. The symptoms I was experiencing could actually resemble those of excess estrogen, since there was some hyperexcitability as well. However, Pregnenolone sulphate is totally capable of doing the same, as it also cause cell excitation by allowing Ca to enter the cells, just like estrogen.
I can confidently say that Preg-S can just do the opposite of Progesterone.
