if you are brave enough
Thanks, I'm looking into it now. Everything's safer fear driven decisions.
Dandruff or scalp irritation? Try BLOO.

All the typical Peat things. Lots of calcium, good sugar/carbs, nasal breathing, fruit, sunlight. I think overnight "fasting" is ideal... maybe earlier dinner and being hungry when waking. I don't take supplements but aspirin always helps pain/inflammation and the attendant stress and mental anger/depression that accompanies physical pain.
These are all good ideas. I don't that think they could completely stop panicked thinking for people inclined. For someone fairly even already it might be enough. Or maybe in the long term it could get someone to that place. It's worth trying.

@Insomniac I'm hoping, maybe foolishly, that taking it for a while with thyroid will make some kind of more permanent change to how my body deals with stress, tipping the favor to thyroid instead of adrenaline.
I do remember reading it can make some permanent improvements.

The 10mg dose is very low. If it works at such a low dose than maybe it's a really good option.
The main issue with beta blockers generally is that they lower resting metabolic rate and tend to cause weight gain over time. Propranolol in particular has a history of being used to treat hyperthyroidism. It would be interesting to know if thyroid supplementation prevents the metabolic slowing completely.
Thanks for your story. I hope it works out.

What do you think about this?
Incredible video. I had know idea they were studied for cancer.
I agree with everything mentioned except I would bet he only uses conventional medicine. He's pretty old school. Maybe one of his kids is slipping something.
@Kilgore The intermittent fast could be the other important variable. Thanks for following up
Let's not forget an element of pure luck. The guy profited from being shot in the head while it didn't help Abraham Lincoln even a little.
@Serotoninskeptic Pregnenolone isn't powerful enough even at 1gram/daily. My blood pressure still goes up 30pts from mildly stressful stuff. I really wanted it to work.
It might be time for a beta blocker.
@happyhanneke I see what you're saying. I have heard the story of people who fall apart after retiring. The like the idea of it but the reality was the job kept them going. That sounds like Trump for sure. However if the job is really high stress then it cuts the other way too.

@Insomniac
He also eats only once a day and has done that all his life.
That is really interesting. Very few people will maintain a omad routine their whole life.
Do you think it helped him age slower?

@Insomniac a meaningful and fulfilling life can make up for a lot of things
I think that it may be an underestimated variable and probably not focused on because there's no product to sell for that. But I also agree with Killgore that he had a good genetic foundation.
@happyhanneke Thanks for confirming my observations. I'm impressed when someone that age can go for a walk without falling, drive at night, chew a steak, turn on a computer, sit through a conversation without nodding off...This is the reality for most people his age but a lot of them already show major cognitive impairment and I wouldn't trust them to run anything. Too risky

Since I've worked with the aging population for decades now. I can really say it's genetics and mindset.
You can manipulate it a bit with lifestyle but not much.
Do you share my opinion that he's performing at a remarkably high level for 78?
@yerrag said in Donald Trump defies the laws of aging. A fat, garbage food eating insomniac conquered the world at 78 (politics aside):
He doesn't drink. He's a puritan in some ways.
He's a born showman. He eats KFC to show he's one of us. When I eat healthy at home, I eat dirty outside. I have the license. Maybe Trump is like that as well.
But he is overweight and I could be wrong. But still, it's better he is stout than thin. As thinness belies a lot of muscle wasting going on in elderlies, to compensate for low blood sugar, and that increases cortisol and ammonia production, and the stress from that isn't life prolonging.
In line with Ray Peat's work, he always seems to be radiating energy and maybe that protected him rather than accelerating his rate of aging (rate of living theory contradiction).
