RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@ThinPicking The whole thing looks like a program to me. Make naturopaths and gun-toting white dudes look insane and dangerous. And make some gun-toting Christians sick while you are at it. To boot, destroy the legacy of Ray Peat and make him look like an incompetent dummy whack job.

RE: Is rinse and repeat here?
@dt Rinse did drop by here and was immediately smacked in the face with some grotesque misogyny. And just like that, she left.
She insisted on consistently making gorgeous healthy food and living a healthy lifestyle. Isn't that awful? I'm glad we got her out of here.

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@saturnuscv yeah, I had six-pack abs you could ricochet bullets off of when I was over-training. But I also had insomnia, had to get up to pee frequently at night, stammered through conversations and barely spoke up. Often tongue-tied and looked down when people talked to me.
Now, I am sometimes amazed at my improved lingual skills. I'm sortof glib even. Assertively witty.
I sleep like the dead.
I only took LSD twice. It gave me temporary freedom from those symptoms too.

RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@Mulloch94 Thank you so much.
I don't know how I would have gotten out of the state I was in without finding Ray Peat or Georgi.
The young adults behind me in the photo are some of the children of my multi-decade clique of friends. Unfortunately, when I saw my friends, their parents, my heart skipped a beat. They are all into low-carb. Sugar is evil. What I saw were shrunken friends. Literally, shrunken heads. Thick skin on atrophied wiry bodies. Even thinner chins. I am by no means gloating. I am heartbroken to see my friends not see this. They also tend to pound hard liquor. Straight scotch. Straight bourbon. One of them was in a wheelchair with MS. Another bald and rattling like a tree. Only one of my old friends said he was way into bio-hacking and health. But drumroll: ice-bathing and low-carb. I really would like to be able to help my friends. -

@Amazoniac Thanks for the thorough explanation.
It's over my head, but I got some of it. -
RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@ilovethesea Both pictures are alarming.
I don't know how that much weight gain can be blamed on Ray Peat.
When I was over-training aikido, I looked like the 2nd picture. I was a little more ripped meat suit on a waif skeleton. Veiny arms and hands. Kinda Iggy Pop face.
When I switched from Jaminet IF - mostly paleo to Peat's ideas, I did gain some weight. But I look a zillion times healthier. My face or arms or legs did not put on any weight. My skeleton got more mass. People started telling me I looked like Brooke Shields with more squared off jaw and thicker eyebrows and bright face. I put weight on in my skeleton, boobs, hips, butt and a little too much in the abdomen. Here is me now. No surgery. No fillers. I don't exercise beyond gardening at the moment. I am 62.
Considering going from low-carb + way over-training to eating carbs freely (to taste. I don't have an eating disorder. I just eat when I am hungry. And I eat what I crave. KISS. )--and stopping exhaustive exercise. I was pretty amazed that re-feeding could be so pleasant.
I plan on choosing a local exercise class--maybe barre or pilates type level. So i think I will trim a little bit more. But I have zero desire to look like Iggy Pop again. -
RE: New "Mission" of RPF
@ilovethesea That's what he said. But it actually means, "I always hated smart people. They trigger my shame. I had to ride the short bus and everyone bullied me for being so dumb. I feel so much better with my power to put smart people in their place."

@Kvirion Wow. Fantastic piece by Nate Lawrence.
Thanks for posting it!!! -
RE: Ray Peat was a Stalinist
@buckminster You are not being even a tad bit paranoid. It is logical to conclude that Peat's legacy and work is deliberately being diminished.
Did you see this history of Blake College?

RE: Feeling unemotional since Peating. Thoughts?
@aeblyve Yeah. There does seem to be still too much serotonin and perhaps a smidge of PTSD.
Although I appreciate your need to make a living and ambition in your field.
Hmmm. How to find a balance. With regards to being solicited for money, I had to do something about that too. Panhandlers are not that aggressive in NYC, where we were living. They are a little more far gone and you can just walk passed them and they don't persist. When we moved to downtown Chicago, I was stunned at how aggressive and persistent the panhandlers and people with clipboards were. 1) I changed my body composition with aikido. That postural change made them either skip over me or not persist. 2) I know this sounds mean, but this is the other extremely effective thing I learned to do to squelch them. As soon as they start their first syllable, I say, "can't help ya out" while keep moving. And don't look back. Sometimes you hear them say, "Geez", or "your shit don't stink" or "what a bitch." But mostly they just skip to the next person. If you walk in a lupine manner and say "can't help ya out" without skipping a beat in your pace, you will not be solicited.
I would recommend buying Diamant from idealabs.com. While sitting at your computer, you can rub in a few drops on your temple or jugular. Wow. Then go for a walk and see all the beautiful colors. Regardless of your schedule, you simply have to take time to walk in the sunshine. Imagine you have a dog that needs walk. You can afford to take several 5 minute walks a day. Go get a coffee. Say hello to shop owners. -
RE: Feeling unemotional since Peating. Thoughts?
I'm thinking clear pilled too.
But perhaps there is some low dopamine still. Maybe those neurons have to take some more time to regenerate after being poisoned by serotonin.
Can you go out in the sunshine more? Stare at the sun (blinking and tearing up is fine), such that you feel it on your retina?
When you walk, try to notice a wide variety of things with wonderment: oh this tree has a new branch; that building has a cool ornament; are people out walking dogs? or a dog park?; or a child lot where you can go on swings?
When you are outside, extend your arms out to the sides and wiggle your fingers. Can you see them in your peripheral vision?
Or there community activities? Concert in the park? Art fair. Exercise groups in the park. Sing-alongs? Crafts classes. Or bird watching. Can you hike in nature near where you are? -
RE: B12 Issues Digestion/ IBS
@bones I can't search the old forum, but people had asked haidut why B12 is not in his b complex Energin. I believe he mentioned that it could potentially feed bacteria. I do not want to misquote him.
It does sound like you have an infection. Doxycicline or penicillan would be good abx choices. As well as charcoal and disinfecting foods like the carrot salad, cooked mushrooms, bamboo shoots and cascara.
