@ThinPicking Update:: I have been eating salt much more liberally yesterday and today. I've been trying to push to as much as I can comfortably eat. And I will say, so far it does seem promising. Metabolism is good, hunger is up, energy stable, and gut is not reacting as badly as normal. I'm hoping I can increase the effects over the next few days as I scale up more salt. I'm gonna try salting meats as well as I think that will make it much easier to get a higher intake and I don't eat much meat now anyways. Thanks for the tip, it's been helpful.

@GRay take it as a supplement. Peat would say it was ok to take 1 mcg of cytomel every hour

@PaleFacePierre said in Bilateral grade IV varicocele with thrombosed right side: @vojdanin Mine went from being constantly painful to basically gone by maintaining frequent bowel movements (cascara and carrot salad), not sitting for too long each day, and doing pelvic floor stretches. I have also heard that topical magnesium has been shown to help. Thank you very much. By topical magnesium you mean "magnesium oil", magnesium chloride? Can you share some source on that, please?

@gg12, some potential gut irritants include: • Fiber • Raw starch and any other poorly digested food, including eating and drinking too quickly • Unripe fruit and even ripe fruit grown under harsh conditions as they produce defense chemicals/allergens • Unrefined/unpurified salt and sugars, including honey, contain potential allergens • Additives such as cultures, enzymes, gums, citric acid, ascorbic acid, propylene glycol and polysorbate 80 • Supplements may contain potentially allergenic byproducts from the manufacturing process •Stress, including stressful thoughts, can affect gut permeability per Ray

Hi @Luke, appreciate your recommendations! Now that I think about she never mentioned eating liver and will probably introduce that in her diet once a week. As far as oysters go I have a problem finding them near me, even canned ones, (I live in north italy) and will probably just stick to liver. She mentioned niacinamide for her skin, but evidently didn't help too much, I bought her tallow, but I believe the problem lies deeper in the digestive system. She also said her thyroid exam came in great, but I'll have to check on the values because they are very different from what they were now. Will have to take a look at the perfect temperature and pulse for thyroid health. Yes, she eats fruits and honey for carbs and avoids complex carbs. Infact she probably already follows a type of low carb carnivore diet. I believe she should up the dose of easily digested carbs because she's eating lots of meat on the side.

@peatyRD I didn't have COVID but I had bronchitis. But nevertheless I had symptoms after COVID which I believe would be common to long COVID such as chronic fatigue symptoms low RBC bordering on anemia lower spO2 hardness of breathing edema, expressed in ankles and belly, would be a sign I would watch out for as it would lead to heart failure in fact, over a 2 year period I've been to the ICU twice and the ER once and each time learned more about it in order to avoid recurrence I had to learn my own way without having to take the many drugs among which are hypertensive medication involving diuretics which would keep my lungs from being flooded with water from edema I realized that because of having low spO2 (chronically being in the low 80s for stretches daily) led to many of my red blood cells dying, and over many months, this led to an accumulation of dead red blood cells, too much that my lymphatic system was backed up in clearing them quickly as normally they would when not overwhelmed; I still have an enlarged lymph gland sticking out my left elbow as a cyst to remind me I still have dead rbc's backed up in my lymphs; so the continual slow clearing and release of dead rbc's is the source of free iron and carbon monoxide into my bloodstream, in which the lungs would be heavily affected, as carbon monoxide would impair my breathing as it attaches to hemoglobin; the free iron would also have its negative effects w/r to the creation of oxidative stress this analysis is however not something a doctor would tell me. this came out of my own way of making sense of Peat's writings on heme oxygenase enzyme and how it converts the even more toxic remnants of dead rbc's into the less toxic forms in free iron and carbon monoxide, which are still toxic in themselves only less even if I were right in my analysis, I still am experimenting on using different peaty substances and devices, and even substances outside peat's province but consistent with his thinking, but so far I am benefiting from my own therapy as I no longer sleep poorly and no longer suffer from fatigue, no longer have edema from having normal spO2 levels but still have white phlegm from my throat which indicates strong immune system activity in my lungs that thankfully is being cleared out instead of blocking my breathing as thick mucus I am however not out of the woods yet as I monitor my lung and heart health using an app on my old Samsung Galaxy S phone which has heart rate and oxygen saturation sensors. I find that on the times that correspond to the lung and liver and gallbladder on the TCM organ chart, my charts don't look good still and I'm still a work in progress.

I don't like any brand in the US. I squeeze my own. I don't think store bought packaged OJ tastes the same as fresh squeezed. It's like its another fruit. I miss the fresh squeezing machines that are everywhere in grocery stores in Europe. At least in my area there's no such thing.

@Oldboy069 I just looked again into the anticholinergic effect of tabacco and it seems like i got it wrong and its the other way around. Cholinergic Have to dig in this some more, low acetylcholin symptoms seems to correlate a lot with some of my symptoms... Would explain the burning (dry) eyes as well.

@cripplejuice I am not sure about this and others are welcome to chime in to correct me but I have been using serum ceruloplasmin as a marker to gauge my copper status. As I understand it is hard to find the right dosage for copper supplementation, as you very well know, I decided one day to just incorporate a food to my regular nutrition (or diet though I abhor the word diet) but before I began on one year of eating that food, I took a ceruloplasmin test and it turns out I am on the low end of range, the range being 18-32 (I don't recall the unit). I ate a small crustacean in the form of a pasty sauce for a year. The crustacean is common in southeast Asia and called by different names. In the Philippines the crustacean is called alamang and the pasty sauce is called bagoong (belacan in Malaysia). I took the test again after a year, and my ceruloplasmin went up to 31. Note that Peat recommends shrimp for its copper content. But I don't like farm raised shrimp as it's known for being raised with antibiotics, and I don't like the idea of eating such shrimp regularly. Wild caught saltwater shrimp would be ideal, but they are hard to find nowadays. So I settled for the small crustacean.
