Very good. Thank you. Good to know you're having success with it in tea form.
Dandruff or scalp irritation? Try BLOO.

they powder it themselves in USA and i doubt they are using a machine with lead so it is probably naturally occuring lead from Sri Lanka
This is a good question and timely for me. I've been attempting to get spices and herbs with as little contamination as possible, and I'm finding that this is not easy to do, especially for Ceylon cinnamon. If what I'm finding is correct, Ceylon, of all cinnamon, is currently not even available without contamination:
https://www.mamavation.com/food/cinnamon-lead-cadmium-glyphosate.html
I realize you have to take these reports with a grain of salt, as there can be contributing factors that don't allow for the whole picture or even an accurate picture.
If the cinnamon here refers to the bark, I doubt the lead would be coming from the bark itself. As before lead could get into the bark, it would be filtered off my the xylem of the true and the lead would stay in the center of the tree trunk. The bark is the farthest from the center of the tree, where the xylem is, so it should be free from lead or whatever contamination.
If ever there is lead contamination, it should be coming from the processing of the cinnamon bark after it has been harvested from the tree.
Thank you, Yerrag. I believe the testers are testing the end product of ground cinnamon. Under the "Better" and "Best" categories, they do not note any brand of Ceylon cinnamon. This is what they note under their "Not Our Favorite Cinnamon" category:
"These products were found to have detectable glyphosate according to our EPA-certified laboratory OR they have over 1,000 ug/kg of lead. Some of these products also could require Prop. 65 warnings based on 1 gram of cinnamon per day. (ug/kg = ppb) As an explainer, California Prop. 65 would require a warning accounting for 1 gram of cinnamon per day above 500 ppb lead and 4,100 ppb cadmium or more."
For now, I'm not going to go with any Ceylon cinnamon, and instead go with the one under "Best", that is supposedly less contaminated:
365 Whole Foods Market Organic Cinnamon Ground — Non-detect glyphosate, 14.87 ug/kg lead, & 93.75 ug/kg cadmium

@Mossy I have tried Joplin a long time ago but didn't like it. Mainly because the lack of features and If I remember correctly it had a weird way to save things where as in obsidian I just make a folder and that's where my things go. I also like that the markdown files are dynamic so they change as soon as I type the next line. Once they add a pdf highlighting feature it will be perfect for me.
I was looking at the Joplin web clipper, but Obsidian came out with theirs just at the right time. I needed to save about 2000 twitter posts from my likes and it made it so much easier. I also played around with training AI on the data I saved (with chat-gpt in obsidian) It owrks decently.
As for privacy. You store your files on your computer and nowhere else. Not sure what you mean by encryption.
Good information. Thank you.
I can attest that the Joplin web clipper did not work well for me. That was last year, I can guess they've updated it by now.
I am not an expert with encryption, but my understanding is encryption is where your files/data are scrambled and undecipherable until you work with them and then are re-scrambled when closed. There are multiple areas where your data could be vulnerable. If you're only using Obsidian locally, you arguable are pretty safe. If Obsidian on your desktop/laptop syncs with cloud storage, for multi-device access, that is where lack of encryption could be a factor. If you don't mind that your information is available, then it would be a non-issue.
EDIT - DELETE: I'm deleting these links on Obsidian not being encrypted and providing a newer link from Obsidian's blog stating that user data IS encrypted:
"When you use our online services, your data is protected with end-to-end encryption for maximum security."
Does anyone know how much the time would be affected by a 660nm light, versus a 670nm?
@Kilgore I would be curious if you have any experience with Joplin, as compared to Obsidian? I think Obsidian looks better, and after an initial perusing seems to function better than Joplin. But the one glaring issue for me with Obsidian is privacy. My understanding is that it lacks encryption.

@Mossy , between that site abd this one, you wonder if ANY prepared food is safe. The best thing on these charts is plain chocolate m&m.
Yes, it does shine a light on the high contamination of manufactured foods. That site I referenced does attempt to offer up a "best" option, with limited to no contamination; though, depending on the food, there can still be contaminants, and in some cases, like the Ceylon cinnamon, the contaminants are so high that they can't even recommend a brand.
@LetTheRedeemed said in How to fix haemorrhoids/piles?:
@samson did you ever read anything negative about taking strait glycine?
I know Peat was generally anti isolated amino supplementation, but glycine has such powerful anti-inflammatory effects…
Here is a quote I have from Peat in my notes. Of all isolated amino acids, he considers glycine safe.
It's worth mentioning that I don't feel well on it, but I know many others do.
“I don’t think it’s very safe to use individual amino acids, glycine is the only one I know of that is safe by itself because it can be used as energy”
@samson said in How to fix haemorrhoids/piles?:
@Mossy got the idea from someone on the old forum who was talking about doing the same thing for hemorrhoids and having really good results. I tried smaller amounts and found that 50 to 60 grams is most effective. you'd be getting 15-20 grams of glycine with that much gelatin, which is a big contributor to its anti-inflammatory effects, plus your GI tract is comprised of collagen so it only makes sense to supplement for GI healing.
don't really get any constipation issues with it, but i think i have really good motility. maybe some cascara with it for increased peristalsis could help?
I appreciate the additional detail and suggestion. I've been thinking of cascara recently, but like with all supplements, I get negative effects. Maybe I'll try it in a tea form. Thank you.

I have an on and off hemorrhoid issue that i can clear up pretty consistently by megadosing gelatin powder. 60 grams dissolved in oj before bed for a day or two usually clears it up.
That is quite a bit of gelatin. Does that give you any digestive issues? I've been making Jello, using Now brand gelatin, and at much less of an amount I feel it messes with my gut and digestion, causing constipation.
It would be interesting to know how you got to such a large amount, Did you try lesser amounts prior to the 60 grams?
@wester130 said in L citruline - yes or no?:
Apparently it is not as bad as arginine
Beyond the question of Peatiness of L-citruline, you could try watermelon and watermelon rind to get it from food. Being that I'm incredibly sensitive to supplements, I can juice watermelon rinds with no negative effects, but taking an L-citruline supplement definitely gives me the negative effects of low blood pressure and pulse, and excess NO. Maybe the NO from L-citruline would want to be avoided, from a Peat perspective, but that I don't feel those effects from watermelon makes me less concerned.
@Corngold said in Glycine is an anti-biotic, restores sensitivity to antibiotics:
Call me simple-minded but doesn't this go back to the idea of eating Jell-O? This is what our grandparents always ate when sick, but also for dessert, for lunches, etc. (50s were a different time).
What is the main difference between glycine and gelatin?
I used to make a dense Jello, in order to get daily glycine. I don't think it's a matter of a difference, but that gelatin, by way of Jello, is a way to get glycine via food. I can usually take gelatin in Jello, better than a glycine supplement; though, I can have trouble with gelatin, e.g., gut distress, digestive issues. The effects of a glycine supplement for me are much more consistent and harsh, e.g., fatigue, grogginess, irritability, to name a few, and they can last for days.

@Mossy
From the quali-c page:
Since 2023, our base raw material is GMO-free - wheat - from Germany which resulted in more sustainable final product which is also gluten-free.
Thank you, AinmBeo. So Quali-C comes from Germany as well as Scotland? In my light research on it, I thought it was only from Scotland. The Doctor's Best Quali-C on amazon was noted as being from corn. At least that was the response when I searched it. Also, it probably could be argued that wheat would be susceptible to the same pollen drift, i.e., there is no such thing as non-GMO.
@LucH Thank you LucH. You always make me think about things I haven't considered.

Good point you make at the end. Hopefully their earnest pursuits will bring them to at least consider positions against the long standing health narratives.
I am going to try this vitamin C, sodium ascorbate. Per the product details page: "Sodium Ascorbate is non-acidic (pH neutral), making it gentle on the digestive system. "
This is not derived from corn. I was interested in Quali-C, but that is derived from corn. As we've all heard by now, all corn is GMO, even if stated as not being, due to cross-pollination, pollen drift which cannot be stopped — supposedly.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000GFPCO8
Does anyone have any thoughts on this "non-acidic" version of vitamin C? I like the idea of getting more sodium as well.
@LetTheRedeemed said in Consensus on a good Vitamin C source?:
just noticed I missed this comment. thanks for commenting. Have you tried it?
I have tried full and partial supplements containing acerola powder. Where the full is 100% acerola and the partial is a c-complex with about 10% acerola, As I'm a freak of nature and can't take most supplements, the acerola was no better in terms of my body accepting it. It very well may be better in quality as compared to synthetic.
