And I was looking for the answer on whether FMTs are a guarantor for clearance of fungal abundance in the small intestinal or colonic lumen. Surprisingly, it's a no! It appears to be even the other way round. Here's something interesting IMO about FMTs: Gut fungal dysbiosis correlates with reduced efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in Clostridium difficile infection, 2018 In this study, it is shown that CDI is strongly accompanied by over-representation of Candida albicans and decreased fungal diversity, richness, and evenness. Post-FMT, successful responders lack their previous C. albicans dominance but rather display a high relative abundance of Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. High abundance of C. albicans in donor stool also correlates with reduced FMT efficacy. In essence, therefore, annihilation of Candida dominance in CDI patients is crucial for FMT success and arguable it could be much advisable to pre-/co-treat any CDI with antifungals along with either ABx or FMT. Another study showed contrasting results of FMT on UC: Fungal Trans-kingdom Dynamics Linked to Responsiveness to Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) Therapy in Ulcerative Colitis, 2020 Herein they showed that in contrast to FMT in CDI, clinically successful response to FMT in UC very much depended on high Candida abundance at baseline, which decreased after FMT. The authors argue that the prior Candida dominance may provide a specific niche for bacterial engraftment, ameliorating UC. So, the very opposite of the pre-conditions in CDI. However, what the authors do not talk about in their text but what their graphs clearly show is the following caveat: UC patients with a low relative Candida abundance at baseline did not only not clinically benefit from the FMT, but their dysbiosis, inflammation and Candida levels post-FMT was mostly even larger than before (confounders? Small sample size?): [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-fx1.jpg] [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-gr2.jpg]´

I noticed the reprint of Nutrition for Women says "100 short articles by Ray Peat, PHD," where the old one said "92...". What did they add to it? Also, note that From PMS to Menopause is for sale on Peat's website but not Amazon, and Peat's website doesn't have Generative Energy. Weird. I wonder if Katherine gets more of the money if you order from Peat's site. I'd imagine so.

I’ve been using two drops 8mg of thymoquinone of the current formulation right before bed on my tongue. Sleeping extra good. Don’t wake up at all until alarm clock except some recent thunderstorms. I replaced 4 drops of Kuinone on tongue before bed. I like the effects of Tuinone better. More calming. For black seed oil seems like if you had an extra strength oil 7.5% TQ you’d need about a teaspoon of the product and would be getting lots of Pufa and other things that aren’t thymoquinone

@alfredoolivas Perhaps, but I'm not certain. I actually was eating a lot more kale recently (maybe 150g a day) for a week and I did notice I had lost some weight (like 5lbs), but I was also walking in nature more at the time. I'll try incorporating it more consistently and get back to you.

  • Does drinking coffee lower or higher your uric acid levels?

@DG I'm not concerned how high my uric acid is as much as whether the uric acid is precipitating into crystals or not, causing arthriric ain in joints and gout. My uric acid levels are on the high end of normal range. Yet I don't feel any arthritic pain. I believe it is because my good sugar metabolism produces a lot of CO2, and this helps with keeping my body in a state of good acid balance. In this state, uric acid hardly ever precipitates into crystals. I'm not sure whether my uric acid levels are that high but I believe it's not so much that I'm producing a lot of it as I'm retaining a lot of it. When I check my urine for uric acid, it is very much lower than normal. They means I'm retaining a lot of uric acid. As to why I'm retaining it, it may be that my body needs it more given that as much as I try to lower conditions of oxidative stress, I am not in that sweet spot where my body deals with a minimum of oxidative but on the contrary a lot of oxidative stress is ongoing. Causes range from lead toxicity still present to a high microbial load as indicated by wbc counts that speak of a high level of low-grade (no fever) infection. Uric acid is part of the body's primary antioxidant system. It is protective. I would pay more attention to ensuring I have an optimal acid-base balance rather than lowering my uric acid levels. I have no arthritic pains whatsoever. No hour either. But go consult a doctor and you will be advised differently. Usually people will do take the road well traveled, and stay within the safety in numbers. The majority is always right or always wrong? Conventional wisdom has it that majority is always right.

have you tried progesterone and thianine? Have you noticed anything similar in regards to combatting the deleterious effects of lonely? I think most serotonin symptoms also occur in tandem with high glutamate and not enough GABA. Theanine as such decreases glutamate while also reducing serotonin in the brain. Amantadine another such thing, b6 (p5p) also another which reduces both glutamte and increases GABA. I dont think its coincidence that a compulsive urge for verbalisation also goes down on theanine , Foids also talk too much bcos estrogen probably reduces threshold for verbalisation (akka watching minimalist movie and "verbalising what u feel/ looking for metaphors etc", while serotonin keeps you stuck verbalising.

@RaypEagle If thyroid were the sole limiting substance that keeps your blood sugar from being absorbed and metabolized optimally, which by that I mean you fully get into mitochondrial respiration, blood sugar would not go up as much and as high as it used to, and this would negate the need for the pancreas to secrete a large amount that it used to. This large amount of insulin signals the liver to convert blood sugar to triglycerides in order to lower blood sugar. But the amount of insulin secreted by the pancreas is not always perfectly calibrated to give a drop in blood sugar that keeps blood sugar from reaching too low a level, and your blood sugar may stay at a low level long enough to trigger hunger before blood sugar levels start going up (or not, as in your liver not having glycogen stores that gets converted to sugar by adrenalin). Having T3 made available would get your blood sugar from dropping to the low levels that trigger hunger.

@peatyourmeat the blood data is for you to draw conclusions from, not for your doctor to interpret, doctors don't spend enough time per patient to really figure out what is wrong, doctors need to do research too for making proper diagnosis and with how the modern health system works that is just not possible

@dan-saintdominic Most of our emotional intuition is processed during sleep. Lack of sleep creates a sort of emotional chaos where you don't really know whether to be happy or sad which is better than total depression. Also yeah, short-time stress can be good if you are really in a depressed state. Though long term you lose out, the damage caused by the stress is usually greater than the good you derive from having that momentanous energy.

@CO3 said in Muscle meat is dumb: Reply i've felt better eating fresh ground beef over leaner cuts of steak/chicken recently. I've heard haidut talk about glycogen still being in it if its fresh enough. i have no problems with the hydrolized gelatin digestion wise and it seems to work well supplementing. I want to see how I feel on the broth recipe though in the future, it seems like it would be good to make on the weekend and ration throughout the week.

You can eat something beforehand so that you aren't so hungry. If you can't obtain vitamin E +/ saturated fat on short notice, try consuming something with caffeine after a pufa-heavy meal to aid excretion, and then eat something with sugar/saturated fat.

I barely slept this week due to gut irritation. This never happens to me. I am usually perfect. I will quit drinking quarts of seawater a week. I now reccomend against drinking and eating things that tastes godawful.
