Abstract Alcoholic beverages produced by fermentation (e.g., beer and wine) are powerful stimulants of gastric acid output and gastrin release in humans. The aim of this study was to separate and specify the gastric acid stimulatory ingredients in alcoholic beverages produced by fermentation. Yeast-fermented glucose was used as a simple model of fermented alcoholic beverages; it was stepwise separated by different methods of liquid chromatography, and each separated solution was tested in human volunteers for its stimulatory action on gastric acid output and gastrin release. Five substances were detected by high-performance liquid chromatography and were analyzed by mass spectrometry and 1H-13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. At the end of the separation process of the five identified substances, only the two dicarboxylic acids, maleic acid and succinic acid, had a significant (P < 0.05) stimulatory action on gastric acid output (76% and 70% of fermented glucose, respectively), but not on gastrin release. When given together, they increased gastric acid output by 100% of fermented glucose and by 95% of maximal acid output. We therefore conclude that maleic acid and succinic acid are the powerful stimulants of gastric acid output in fermented glucose and alcoholic beverages produced by fermentation, and that gastrin is not their mediator of action. ... When tested separately, oxalic acid, acetic acid, and L(+)-lactic acid had no stimulatory effect on gastric acid output. Maleic acid and succinic acid, however, significantly increased gastric acid output by 76% and 70%, respectively, of fermented glucose (Figs. 2 and 4). When given together in the concentrations present in beer, maleic acid and succinic acid significantly increased gastric acid output by 95% of MAO(maximal acid output) and 100% of fermented glucose. Typically your liver is already taking hits, Calcium in the milk seems very beneficial, But the milk slows my motility and makes my stomach bloated , irritated, My skin might break out and I get sleepy. Ive been drinking it every day for about a week and a half, Things are sort of better? Do I just keep drinking it?

@BioEclectic said in Best thyroid type in context of combining with hormones?: If i may ask, and if it were you, which thyroid type would you choose? Reasons why aren't necessary, i can even make a choice based on consensus, and the responsibility would be totally my own. It is a tough choice imo. T3. It made me incredibly catabolic. And it's effects on fat loss were dissapointing. I really didn't benefit from it at all. Now, I use 50-75mcg t4. Feeling and looking much better. Considering your gender and your steroid protocol, you probably will convert t4 fine if you want to consider that.

A single portion (240ml) of UHT milk is like welcoming just one tourist in Venice. Not overcrowded. You get the value of the nutrient, but the load is manageable, allowing your small metabolism to process and keep the not-well-fit amino-acid under control (not used). If someone overloads himself with one gallon at a time, twice a day, it won't make you "more nourished." It will make you tired and leave your body feeling crowded and overworked by the demands of processing it all, when something is not well manufactured / recognized. Management is all. Even if you don’t perceive it. And don’t tell you know someone who … Finally: Think, perceive and act, as someone not far from here would say “If UHT milk is the only option, a single portion (~240 ml or half a gallon) is manageable. Think of it like one extra car on a quiet road — the system absorbs it without stress. Moderation keeps the metabolism in control. A moderate amount keeps the metabolism in control of what it can process and discard.

@LunaticRed what @alfredoolivas said along with inhibiting cortisol, positive androgenic effects like increased strength, bone growth, anti-anxiolytic, controls blood sugar, controls inflammation from endotoxin. The list goes on. In reality, it is the TRUE male hormone.

also consider reading Peat's article on aspirin which discusses the benefits of aspirin as well as the marketing scheme behind the rise in ibuprofen. Aspirin, brain, and cancer.

@insufferable When I hear WV my mind goes to the DuPont scandal with PFAS, I think that something like that could have had a lasting impact on those community's in ways that we still don't understand. I'm sure there were higher rates of cretinism, etc. But I think the most bioenergetic country to move to would be somewhere with high elevation in Russia/Bulgaria since they already understand most of these ideas and have for decades and decades before many in the U.S. Carbon dioxide baths, man made pyramids, brain wave testing, orgone principles, etc. https://youtube.com/@bosanske.piramide?si=qHOOVVMy4TlYOwkc

@Alexander99 said in Is Caloric Deficit Peaty?: My point in the above post was more that you should have a calorie deficit when losing weight, but this is one, albeit an important one, of many factors in losing fat. The trouble with the idea of a "calorie deficit" is just how exactly do you figure out what that means for you? If you have dieted using calorie deficits in the past, your body can reset its metabolic rate so that you can withstand calorie deficit (=starvation/deprivation) better which means you would need to reduce the calories even further to get any weight loss. This also opens the way to lose muscle mass (from higher cortisol) instead of losing fat.

@magnuscoffee I love the taste, but the manganese content can be problematic. Manganese overload can be an issue if you get carried away with the fabulous taste and overindulge habitually.

@raytreats My skin started getting dry when I upped my metabolic rate. I needed a lot more vitamins. I started eating a can of oysters daily and it resolved very quickly. (Now I eat one a week.)

@honest_skeptic Ray always said that he wasn't a scientist and never really aspired to be one. He has always described himself as a painter/philosopher and/or a science critic. If you think that having some articles published on pubmed makes you a good scientist, you haven't really understood the main problem.

I think FMT is a good option for gut treatment. It already has dozens of studies showing improvements of digestive diseases including Crohn’s. Here is one of them: https://microbiomejournal.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s40168-020-0792-5

@Zeno My guess is it's suppressing estrogen, which can cause body hair. Not sure what's causing hair on head thinning. Have you tried the topical aspirin baking soda wash?

Peating has worked wonders for me in every advertised way. I have more energy and muscles, and less stress and fat. My very being was in a state of depressed solipsism, while I now enjoy the experience of life with an open and curios zest(Pun intended).
