And I was looking for the answer on whether FMTs are a guarantor for clearance of fungal abundance in the small intestinal or colonic lumen. Surprisingly, it's a no! It appears to be even the other way round. Here's something interesting IMO about FMTs: Gut fungal dysbiosis correlates with reduced efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in Clostridium difficile infection, 2018 In this study, it is shown that CDI is strongly accompanied by over-representation of Candida albicans and decreased fungal diversity, richness, and evenness. Post-FMT, successful responders lack their previous C. albicans dominance but rather display a high relative abundance of Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. High abundance of C. albicans in donor stool also correlates with reduced FMT efficacy. In essence, therefore, annihilation of Candida dominance in CDI patients is crucial for FMT success and arguable it could be much advisable to pre-/co-treat any CDI with antifungals along with either ABx or FMT. Another study showed contrasting results of FMT on UC: Fungal Trans-kingdom Dynamics Linked to Responsiveness to Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) Therapy in Ulcerative Colitis, 2020 Herein they showed that in contrast to FMT in CDI, clinically successful response to FMT in UC very much depended on high Candida abundance at baseline, which decreased after FMT. The authors argue that the prior Candida dominance may provide a specific niche for bacterial engraftment, ameliorating UC. So, the very opposite of the pre-conditions in CDI. However, what the authors do not talk about in their text but what their graphs clearly show is the following caveat: UC patients with a low relative Candida abundance at baseline did not only not clinically benefit from the FMT, but their dysbiosis, inflammation and Candida levels post-FMT was mostly even larger than before (confounders? Small sample size?): [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-fx1.jpg] [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-gr2.jpg]´

I noticed the reprint of Nutrition for Women says "100 short articles by Ray Peat, PHD," where the old one said "92...". What did they add to it? Also, note that From PMS to Menopause is for sale on Peat's website but not Amazon, and Peat's website doesn't have Generative Energy. Weird. I wonder if Katherine gets more of the money if you order from Peat's site. I'd imagine so.

I’ve been using two drops 8mg of thymoquinone of the current formulation right before bed on my tongue. Sleeping extra good. Don’t wake up at all until alarm clock except some recent thunderstorms. I replaced 4 drops of Kuinone on tongue before bed. I like the effects of Tuinone better. More calming. For black seed oil seems like if you had an extra strength oil 7.5% TQ you’d need about a teaspoon of the product and would be getting lots of Pufa and other things that aren’t thymoquinone

@alfredoolivas Perhaps, but I'm not certain. I actually was eating a lot more kale recently (maybe 150g a day) for a week and I did notice I had lost some weight (like 5lbs), but I was also walking in nature more at the time. I'll try incorporating it more consistently and get back to you.

@hawk1 okay you actually had agency & balls and settled with some pretty decent sources. It took you two months, but I’m proud of you if that means anything.

@mostlylurking refined coconut oil works a treat for deep frying. i’ve made really nice chicken tenders and fries with it. regular coconut oil seems ok for oven fries, but refined is probably better for higher temps.

@voldtzeig said in Carrot salad as replacement for Brushing your teeth: @CurmudgeonApple Would you need fluoride for hydroxyapatite to remineralize aswell or would hydroxyapatatite toothpaste work without the fluoride? It would depend on the state of your enamel. apatites are just a building block of a tooth, so if your enamel is considerably demineralised, the hydroxyapatite of calcium or other mineral has nothing to bind to and in that situation, the only thing that will reverse it is a fluoride treatment, toothpaste, etc, and if it's severe to the point of almost dentin exposure, then your only recourse is probably stannous fluoride, which might even save it, and after a few months of that you can switch to hydroxyapatite or something less drastic. If you don't have any demineralisation then you don't technically need fluoride at all as the minerals from your dietary choices will deposit into saliva and bind to tooth enamel no problem

@CheesedToPeatYou Yes. They use chlorine and other nasty things at dilute concentration to clean carrots. Sometimes, not always. I wouldn’t recommend you repeat the experiment unless you truly have a dedication to anecdotal science, but perhaps next time you are forced to buy carrots out discard the skins first.

Also Ether, God & Devil & Cosmic Superimposition and The bion experiments. There is a publisher reprinting most of his works in affordable paperbacks, that's where I would start.

@Hando-Jin said in Does tanning age you even in an absence of seed oils?: @sphenoid said in Does tanning age you even in an absence of seed oils?: @Hando-Jin the process of UV light turning the cholesterol in the skin into the precursor to vitamin D. Too much UV and not enough cholesterol synthesis in the skin will eventually deplete it. Why not enough cholesterol synthesis is what I'm trying to understand. Has anybody answered that? I heard Ray say it was just down to age. Age, stress, nutritional deficiencies. Most people are probably inefficient at replacing cholesterol in the skin. That's why topical lanolin is a blessing for not only supplying a substrate for vitamin D but to keep the skin youthful.

While LSD is intense, saying it's a portal to demons is religious nonsense, and of course that guy Owen, who ironically enough made the cover art for Bronze Age Mindset, has an entite page dedicated to Christianity I'd write his experience off as having a bad trip. Lots of people on X/Twitter like to sensationalize different concepts like demons and things being demonic. While some people might genuinely feel that certain experienced/drugs are demonic, it seems easy to just make stuff up and exaggerate for engagement. Make something sound more sinister and bigger than it actually is. Now if we're talking about facing our own demons, anxiety, fears, and of course our gut health, that's much more valid. People undermine the importance of gut health with things such as psilocybin mushrooms or LSD, especially LSD as its a much longer and more intense experience. LSD makes you understand the importance of your environment, your energy, other people's energy, etc. It can put your problems and what you've been neglecting doing in your life to the forefront. I'd say the normie LSD formula is think about bad thing, let that bad thing effect your mood, freak out about said thing, and have a bad trip. Of course there's bigger problems, lots of fear inducing propaganda, and general uncertainty in this world, but as long as you understand you must keep going and have a positive friend who knows how to keep you in a positive mood and mindset, you can put yourself back in the positive happy trip spot. A big thing for me was seeing how beautiful nature was and how dysfunctional a lot of humans are and human creations, LSD activates synaesthesia where you can feel what you see, and vice versa. I'd research more into synaesthesia honestly. Again, it all goes back to your environment, your mindset, way of thinking, your trauma, etc.

@insufferable When I hear WV my mind goes to the DuPont scandal with PFAS, I think that something like that could have had a lasting impact on those community's in ways that we still don't understand. I'm sure there were higher rates of cretinism, etc. But I think the most bioenergetic country to move to would be somewhere with high elevation in Russia/Bulgaria since they already understand most of these ideas and have for decades and decades before many in the U.S. Carbon dioxide baths, man made pyramids, brain wave testing, orgone principles, etc. https://youtube.com/@bosanske.piramide?si=qHOOVVMy4TlYOwkc

@Alexander99 said in Is Caloric Deficit Peaty?: My point in the above post was more that you should have a calorie deficit when losing weight, but this is one, albeit an important one, of many factors in losing fat. The trouble with the idea of a "calorie deficit" is just how exactly do you figure out what that means for you? If you have dieted using calorie deficits in the past, your body can reset its metabolic rate so that you can withstand calorie deficit (=starvation/deprivation) better which means you would need to reduce the calories even further to get any weight loss. This also opens the way to lose muscle mass (from higher cortisol) instead of losing fat.
