And I was looking for the answer on whether FMTs are a guarantor for clearance of fungal abundance in the small intestinal or colonic lumen. Surprisingly, it's a no! It appears to be even the other way round. Here's something interesting IMO about FMTs: Gut fungal dysbiosis correlates with reduced efficacy of fecal microbiota transplantation in Clostridium difficile infection, 2018 In this study, it is shown that CDI is strongly accompanied by over-representation of Candida albicans and decreased fungal diversity, richness, and evenness. Post-FMT, successful responders lack their previous C. albicans dominance but rather display a high relative abundance of Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. High abundance of C. albicans in donor stool also correlates with reduced FMT efficacy. In essence, therefore, annihilation of Candida dominance in CDI patients is crucial for FMT success and arguable it could be much advisable to pre-/co-treat any CDI with antifungals along with either ABx or FMT. Another study showed contrasting results of FMT on UC: Fungal Trans-kingdom Dynamics Linked to Responsiveness to Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) Therapy in Ulcerative Colitis, 2020 Herein they showed that in contrast to FMT in CDI, clinically successful response to FMT in UC very much depended on high Candida abundance at baseline, which decreased after FMT. The authors argue that the prior Candida dominance may provide a specific niche for bacterial engraftment, ameliorating UC. So, the very opposite of the pre-conditions in CDI. However, what the authors do not talk about in their text but what their graphs clearly show is the following caveat: UC patients with a low relative Candida abundance at baseline did not only not clinically benefit from the FMT, but their dysbiosis, inflammation and Candida levels post-FMT was mostly even larger than before (confounders? Small sample size?): [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-fx1.jpg] [image: 1-s2.0-S1931312820301700-gr2.jpg]´

I noticed the reprint of Nutrition for Women says "100 short articles by Ray Peat, PHD," where the old one said "92...". What did they add to it? Also, note that From PMS to Menopause is for sale on Peat's website but not Amazon, and Peat's website doesn't have Generative Energy. Weird. I wonder if Katherine gets more of the money if you order from Peat's site. I'd imagine so.

I’ve been using two drops 8mg of thymoquinone of the current formulation right before bed on my tongue. Sleeping extra good. Don’t wake up at all until alarm clock except some recent thunderstorms. I replaced 4 drops of Kuinone on tongue before bed. I like the effects of Tuinone better. More calming. For black seed oil seems like if you had an extra strength oil 7.5% TQ you’d need about a teaspoon of the product and would be getting lots of Pufa and other things that aren’t thymoquinone

@alfredoolivas Perhaps, but I'm not certain. I actually was eating a lot more kale recently (maybe 150g a day) for a week and I did notice I had lost some weight (like 5lbs), but I was also walking in nature more at the time. I'll try incorporating it more consistently and get back to you.

@hawk1 okay you actually had agency & balls and settled with some pretty decent sources. It took you two months, but I’m proud of you if that means anything.

when you wake up your blood sugar has fallen several times during the night and you have suffered high adrenaline and cortisol to bring it up, and this is a stress reaction. The result can be feeling crummy and nausea in the morning. You need to eat foods that support good blood sugar during sleep.

@voldtzeig Ok cool. For eardrum, I think the target should be even higher than 98.6. E.g. Peat said: "Old people in particular can have brain at a “good temperature, oral 98.6 (37C), eardrum 99.5, for example” … but they’re producing less energy and that shows up as an extreme gradient from the extremities to the brain" from https://bioenergetic.life/clips/74ded?t=5569&c=107. So lots of room to improve!

I have talked with someone who had success in rebuilding her microbiome. She saw improvements within 3 months, but she said that generally repopulating the microbiome is a long term process and can take years. Makes you wonder why people quit too soon, they expect results too early. I too didn't have the patience. Her approach was probiotics, and slow reintroduction of plants, fibers, veggies. She saw big improvements in depression, candida, bloating after a couple months.

I don't have much experience, but I think I understand what you're saying. I found some studies suggesting that a Frankel Appliance could help with what you're describing. In this study they conclude that the "Significant alveolar and apical base expansion was found in the treatment group". It seems like the alveolar and apical base is just the bone on the base of the upper teeth, so if they shift everything forward and help your tongue guide the other tissue forward, it'll probably make the features less hollow. Though, some example/reference photos would be helpful just to be sure.

@Brandon Hmm. You can try! A tiny bit of olive oil to dissolve is best. Maybe try slathering a bit on a little zit or something. It's just the way I tried it! If you're gonna try orally I would suggest doing 2 corn kernel sized drops at once, rubbed into the gums. My idea is just that it would have a significant, palpable effect, which can help to make it a valuable tool once you understand it.

@AndrewPeatMatrix Turn off all notifications (e.g. vibrations, sounds) on your phone. Stop scrolling on social media and begin reading books instead. Don't watch internet videos. Screen usage/culture is highly anti-social and neurologically dysfunctional, and that's saying nothing about EMF or blue light. It also lends itself to hyperstimulating addictions like pornography, which will cause further brain decay on its own. Dopamine is very important to keep elevated, but you should do it by resensitizing yourself to the elements (i.e. earth, water, air, fire), animals, people and so on - not by "digital culture" (Ray Peat's term) with its degenerative cyber simulacra of reality.

Probably worth noting as well that marijuana has very high levels of heavy metals, absorbs a lot of lead and cadmium from the soil it’s grown in, a high concentration of lead in the bloodstream is found significantly associated with an elevated risk of schizophrenia.

@the-MOUSE I doubt you have too much stomach acid. How could you have too much when your condition of being both low in CO2 and NaCl disposes you towards making less rather than too much stomach acid, being that your condition of metabolic acidosis deprives you of hydronium ions (being hydronium ions in blood would be transferred to the cell in exchange for the potassium ions inside cells, which explains why you are high in serum potassium - as that is how the body adapts to metabolic acidosis by trying to make the blood more alkaline with potassium ions brought in to blood by that exchange between hydronium and potassium ions. You are also short on salt (as well as sodium and chloride) that you are low on chloride needed to make hydrochloric acid aka stomach acid. Because you are low in CO2, your platelets cannot carry serotonin into your lungs, as CO2 is needed to enable platelets to carry serotonin to the lungs. It is in the lungs where most of your serotonin is deactivated. If serotonin is not being deactivated in your lungs nor carried by platelets, you have plenty of free serotonin which would end up also in your brain. Taking cyproheptadine hasn't worked for me when I was having problems with my lungs when I had bronchitis. I couldn't sleep for days on end and I think the problem was simply too much serotonin messing my brain.

it works exceptionally well for studying and retention, it is essentially all i utilize as a full-time engineering student to ensure my time spent studying is productive. i will drink coffee throughout the morning / early afternoon then i will use 50mg allithiamine when its time to start reading. if im still going after several hours i will take another dose. i find it is important to have a steady supply of glucose during this block, i don't like snacking / grazing so what i will do is increase the frequency of my meals during this block, and maybe within this block a couple times i will have servings of fresh fruit. i believe it is essential to feed the b1 with adequate carbohydrates. my meals during this block are simply jasmine rice and lean meat cooked in coconut oil, fruits will either be citrus fruits or berries. during this block i might eat a meal as frequently as once every hour or 1.5 hours just to ensure i have steady glucose. i will also use red light during this block as well for brief periods. it is better than just coffee + sugar, absolutely. i can also attest to the fact that during this block and whenever i utilize this strategy, my gastric emptying rate is noticeably faster, which is another reason i suspect the b1 helps with cognition. the digestive benefits are not to be overlooked. remember, you want to "feed" the b1 with proper carbohydrates, keep that in mind. don't do what people often do while studying and go in a stressed state neglecting eating, the improved retention from b1 will make up for the time spent eating or taking care of yourself. its the quality vs quantity that matters. you don't need to go super high dose with allithiamine, i notice an improvement that lasts a few hours with just 50mg.
